<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

Description attached to a request for
BELGIAN PATENT filed by the company known as: FREYSSINET INTERNATIONAL (STUP) having for object: Device for tensioning prestressing bars and determining this tension Qualification proposed: PATENT OF INVENTION It is indicated for all useful purposes that a request corresponding patent was filed in France on June 9, 1981 under number 81. 11305
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to an adjustable device for tensioning prestressing bars.
It is known that, especially for the prestressing of small concrete elements, short steel bars with threaded ends are used so as to maintain, practically without slackening, the tension imposed on these bars, by means of nuts bearing, in the tensioned state of the bars, on the end faces of the element through which the ends of these bars come out. We also know that, in order to obtain correct support of each nut against the element's exit face, the nut part turned towards this face is shaped as a ball of ball and cooperates with an annular cup applied around the bar. , against the element.
This compensates for the slight construction imperfections which cause slight orientation errors (in general less than five degrees) of the axis of the bar relative to the perpendicular to the exit face of this bar.
However, even with smaller orientation errors, for example at most equal to three degrees, the tensioning cylinder of the bar operates under incorrect conditions since the axes of the bar and of the cylinder do not strictly coincide.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback and, in addition, to allow a very precise evaluation of the value of the tension imposed on this bar, either during its first tensioning, or during subsequent checks of this voltage.
According to the invention, the device for tensioning a prestressing bar, an apparatus the movable part of which is made integral with the latter, is pressed against the flat exit face of this bar by means of a ball joint ring, movable in all directions on said face relative to said bar, the fixed part of said device being pressed against this ring by means of a spherical portion cooperating with the spherical surface of the latter.
Preferably, the ring is shaped like a bowl and the end of said fixed part is shaped like a portion of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
ball joint.
Preferably, also in this case, the center of the cooperating spherical surfaces substantially coincides with the point of attachment of the bar on the movable part of said device.
To obtain, practically without external intervention, a correct positioning of the fixed part of the tensioning device against the ball joint, the bearing surface of the ball nut is formed in a flat, smooth plate and possibly lubricated, against which said ball joint is applied.
Thus, the ball joint ring receiving the fixed part of the tensioning device spontaneously centers with respect to the latter so as to cancel the asymmetrical support reactions of said fixed part against said ring.
When, thanks to this adaptation, which rigorously coincides the axis of the tensioning device of the bar with the axis of this bar, tension can be applied to the bar, the bearing ball nut is screwed into contact with the ball joint cup made in the support plate to transfer the tension of the bar to the concrete element, after which the device can be released.
If this device is a hydraulic cylinder, it is then possible to know exactly the tension imparted to the bar when the ball nut has been screwed, or to check the behavior of the bar in service.
In fact, when the jack, connected to the end of the bar protruding from the nut, is gradually put under pressure, it elastically elongates first of all the portion of rod included between the ball joint nut and the fixing point of this bar on the actuator, then when the tension reaches that of the bar, the bearing ball joint begins to take off from the bowl formed in the plate and the whole of the rod lengthens.
Under these conditions, if we measure, as a function of the increasing hydraulic pressure imposed on the jack, the elongation of the bar between a fixed position reference and a reference integral with the ball joint nut, we first observe a small elongation , as a function of this increase in pressure, then a strong elongation, both linear, since these
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
elongations are elastic. The value of the pressure at the connection elbow of the two straight lines gives the value of the real tension in the bar when the nut resumes its support in its bowl.
In an advantageous embodiment, reducing the annoying weight and bulk when the threaded bars are intended for the reinforcement of a complex structure comprising, for example, a plurality of close members and avoiding the use of a threaded bar section complementary to extend the tensioning and anchoring bar, the traction device being a hydraulic cylinder with an annular piston, said piston is directly pressed against the ball joint while the threaded bar, extending through the cylinder head, is supported by a nut against this cylinder head.
Preferably, the latter has a central recess for the partial housing of this nut, which further reduces the axial length of the assembly.
Since the stroke of the piston in its cylinder is very reduced, the internal and external peripheries of this cylindrical piston are, to avoid the risks of jamming in the cylinder, stripped in the form of toric surface portions substantially from the surface of the piston receiving hydraulic pressure.
The accompanying drawing will show how the invention can be implemented.
- Figure l is a section of a tensioning device and voltage measurement according to the invention.
- Figure 2 is a diagram of the extensions of the bar shown in Figure l as a function of the hydraulic pressure admitted into the cylinder.
- Figure 3 shows, in axial section, an advantageous embodiment of the cylinder according to the invention.
In FIG. 1, the concrete element A is prestressed by the tensioned bar B whose axis makes a slight angle
OC with the perpendicular to the external face Al of this element.
The threaded bar B is tensioned and its tension is maintained by pressing the ball nut l on a support plate
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
2 provided for this purpose with a bowl 3.
The tension of the bar is imposed by a jack 4 whose fixed cylinder 5 is supported on the element A, while the piston 6 is movable under the action of the pressurized oil arriving through the nozzle 7.
The connection of the piston 6 with the bar B is ensured by a section of threaded bar 8, by virtue of the threaded sleeve 11, the support ring 9 and the nut 10.
According to the invention, the support of the cylinder 5 against the element A is not direct, but ensured by a section of cylinder 12 terminated by a spherical head 12a which rests on a ball joint in the form of a bowl of ball 13, which can freely slide against the plate 2. Thus, by the spontaneous movement of this ring 13 against the plate, the axis of the cylinder coincides with that of the bar without risk of bending thereof due to the direction the concavity of the ball joint cup and the position of the center of the spherical part thereof, center close to the point of attachment of the bar on the jack.
After tensioning of the bar, the opening (s) made in the cylinder 12 allow, by means of a spindle 15, to operate the tubular key 16 engaged on the hexagon nut 1.
To know the exact tension of the bar after this tightening of the nut, we proceed as follows:
On the bar, in contact with the nut, is engaged a section of tube 17 in which is fixed transversely a rod element 18 exiting through an opening 14. A slider 19 fixed on this rod is in contact with the movable point 20 d 'a dial comparator 21, which is fixed by a collar to the support cylinder 12, that is to say the fixed part.
The hydraulic pressure in the jack having been released, this pressure (P), on the ordinate in the diagram of FIG. 2, is gradually increased. Thus, the actuator elastically elongates first the portions of bar B and bar 8, comprised between the nuts 1 and 10 (which makes it possible, depending on the elongation (AL), to trace the right portion D.), then all bar B and bar 8, as soon as nut 1 has taken off
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
of the support bowl, which corresponds to the right D.
The meeting point E of these two lines, each drawn by at least two points, determines the pressure Pl in the jack which corresponds very substantially to the tension of the bar B.
If the bar B is kept long enough, this operation can be repeated whenever a check of the tension of the bar B seems necessary.
The invention applies to all constructions prestressed by bars with threaded ends and especially to beam members of transversely prestressed beams.
In the example of FIG. 3, the tensioning cylinder is constituted by a cylinder 22, comprising an annular chamber 22a, and by a piston, also annular 23, comprising seals (not shown) and stops. stroke limitation such as 24 allowing the operation of the jack supplied by the pressurized liquid inlet 25. A vent 26 limits the stroke of the jack by allowing the oil to leak when the admissible stroke is reached. The bar B is externally long enough to be supported on the cylinder head by a nut 27.
The size can be reduced. as shown, by providing, for the partial housing of this nut 27, a depression 28 in the center of the cylinder head.
As in the case of FIGS. 1 and 2, when the jack is pressurized and the bar B extended, the nut 1 is held in abutment against the bowl 3 by the rotation of the tubular key 16 operated by the spindle 15 through a window 29 formed in the piston 23. The angular opening of this window is sufficient to allow the spindle 15, after rotation, to pass from a hole 16a in the tubular key to the next hole in this key. The opening 29, for example 50, makes it possible to easily operate a key 16 comprising eight radial holes.
The piston 23 has, at its free end, a spherical surface 23a which is pressed against the ball joint 13,
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
which can slide on the support piece 2.
Because the cylinder's pull stroke is very short, the piston may get stuck in the cylinder at the slightest slope of one relative to the other. To avoid this risk, the external surfaces of the piston, from the active surface thereof, are stripped in the form of a portion of toric surfaces 23b and 23c. Thus, the piston can tilt slightly in the cylinder without disadvantage.
As in the case of FIGS. 1 and 2, a section of tube 17, carrying a radial rod 18 exiting through 1-opening 29 and supporting a dial gauge 30, makes it possible, by pressing the key of this comparator on a member (shown diagrammatically at 31), integral with the piston 23 (fixed part of the jack), to determine the value of the tension in the bar B.
An important advantage of this embodiment is the lightness of the whole apparatus which must be able to be transported by hand on acrobatic courses.
It applies especially to the tensioning of short bars in complex shaped works in which access to these bars, for their tensioning, is difficult.
