Abstract

The member for constructing display stands, shelving, racks, etc., is designed to ensure rigid joints with a minimum number of bolts. It can be solid or hollow, and has equally spaced holes (7) through it, in two sets at right angles to each other, and intersecting. A right angle joint can be forward by a single bolt (12) through a horizontal and a vertical member. A corner joint with a third member extending in a horizontal plane from the vertical plane of two other connected members uses three bolts, all at right angles to each other in three planes. In this case, the horizontal member overlaps the vertical member, with a bolt passing through both. The third member then fits into the corner formed by the overlap, and is secured by two bolts at right angles to the first two members.

  BREVET D'INVENTION

PROFILE PERFORE ET PROCEDE D'ASSEMBLAGE DE CELUI-CI

 <EMI ID=1.1>

 <EMI ID=4.1>

  PATENT

PERFORATED PROFILE AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING SAME

 <EMI ID = 1.1>

The present invention relates to a perforated profile for the production of frames, in particular frames for furniture, such as shelving, shelves, bookcases, etc.

It is known that the shelving, shelves, etc., the framework of which is produced using profiles, of the aforementioned type, assembled together have the drawback of lacking rigidity, which causes instability of said shelving, whether charged or not.

To remedy this drawback, it has been thought to reinforce the rigidity of the above-mentioned framework by providing elements, such as spacers, gussets, etc., assembled to the profiles. If the use of these elements improves the rigidity somewhat

of the framework, it has the disadvantage of increasing

the number of different elements that are necessary to erect the frame.

The invention aims to remedy these drawbacks and to provide a profile which allows, without resorting to additional elements of the spacer, gusset type, etc., the production of practically non-deformable shelving frames.

To this end, according to the invention, the section of the profile is a polygon located between a pair of parallel lines carrying two of its opposite sides and another pair of parallel lines, perpendicular to the first, carrying two other of its opposite sides, the distances separating the straight lines of each of the two pairs of aforesaid straight lines being equal, said profile having two series of perforations passing right through it, the perforations of each of these series being aligned and regularly spaced from each other, the axes of the perforations of a series intersecting the axes of the perforations of the other series so that the plane passing through the axes of a series of perforations is perpendicular to one of the pairs of straight lines mentioned above,

   while the plane passing through the axes of the other series of perforations is perpendicular to the other pair of lines, the intersection of these two planes being equidistant from the intersections of the lines constituting the two pairs of lines, the distance separating two perforations immediately adjacent to each of the two series of perforations being equal to the distances separating the lines from each of the above pairs of lines.

According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the section of the profile is a square.

The subject of the invention is also a method of assembling the above-mentioned profile, this method making it possible to produce, only using identical profiles and bolts, rigid frames.

Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings appended to this specification and which, by way of nonlimiting examples, represent particular embodiments of the profile according to the invention and illustrate the above process.

Figure 1 is an elevational view, partially broken, of the profile according to the invention. <EMI ID = 2.1> in Figure 1.

Figures 3 and 5 are views, similar to Figure 1, showing variants of the profile illustrated in said Figure 1.

Figures 4 and 6 are sectional views along lines IV-IV and VI-VI of Figures 3 and 5.

FIG. 7 is an elevation view, with partial breaks, of a shelving frame produced using the profile illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2. FIG. 8 is a plan view corresponding to FIG. 7.

In the different figures, the same reference notations designate identical or analogous elements.

The perforated profile 1, according to the invention and shown in the drawings, is intended for the production of rigid and stable frameworks, in particular frameworks 2 for furniture, such as shelving, shelves, bookcases, etc. The section of this profile is a polygon located between a pair of lines 3, 3 '(see Figure 2) carrying two of its opposite sides 4, 4' and another pair of lines 5, 5 'carrying two other of its opposite sides 6, 6' . The distances a which separate the lines 3 and 3 'and the lines 5 and 5' are equal. Profile 1 has two series of perforations 7 and 7 'which pass right through it.

   The perforations 7, 7 'of each of these series are aligned and regularly separated from each other, the axes 8 of the perforations 7 of a series intersecting the axes 8' of the perforations 7 'of the other series of such so that the plane passing through the axes 8 of the series of perforations 7 is perpendicular to the pair of lines 5 and 5 ', while the plane passing through the axes 8' of the series of perforations 7 'is perpendicular- <EMI ID = 3.1>

two perforations 7 or 7 'immediately adjacent to each of the two above-mentioned series of perforations is equal to the distances to be separated

 <EMI ID = 4.1>

According to the invention, the section of the profile is either in the form of a concave polygon, as shown in FIGS. 3 to 6, or in the form of a convex polygon, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.

The grooves 10 formed in the profile 1, along its longitudinal axis (Figures 3 to 6), have a double purpose, namely, on the one hand, a technical purpose of maintaining the edges of the shelves of shelves and, on the other apart, an aesthetic goal.

The profile according to the invention can be made of wood, metal or plastic and it can be either solid or hollow. The section of the section 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is a square, this section being made of wood, which makes it possible to produce frames at very low cost.

two by three bolts 12 cooperating with the perforations 7 and 7 '.

It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and that many modifications can be made to these without departing from the scope of this patent.

1. Perforated profile for producing frames, in particular frames for shelving, characterized in that the section of the profile is a polygon situated between a pair of parallel lines carrying two of its opposite sides and another pair of parallel lines perpendicular to the first, carrying two others on its opposite sides, the distances separating the straight lines from each of the two pairs of straight lines mentioned above being equal, said profile having two series of perforations passing right through it, the perforations of each of these series being aligned and regularly spaced from each other, the axes of the perforations of one series intersecting the axes of the perforations of the other series so that the plane passing through the axes of a series of perforations is perpendicular to one of the above pairs of lines,

   while the plane passing through the axes of the other series of perforations is perpendicular to the other pair of lines, the intersection of these two planes being equidistant from the intersections of the lines constituting the two pairs of lines, the distance separating two perforations immediately adjacent to each of the two series of perforations being equal to the distances separating the lines from each of the above pairs of lines.
