Or,
- la figure 1 est une vue en élévation d'un dispositif de support d'un panneau routier ou publicitaire suivant l'invention, en position partiellement déployée avec panneau de signalisation ;
<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
Support device for a road design panel or the like
The present invention relates
to a device for supporting a road sign or the like.
It is known to place, along
roads, when carrying out repair or other work, temporary traffic signs, such as signs indicating vehicle speed limits, diversions, narrowing of the width of the tread (s) reserved for vehicles, etc ... On many occasions, these panels are rigidly fixed
supports simply placed on the ground. Gold,
we often see that under the effect of speed.
vehicles traveling on roads so equipped
of temporary traffic signs, these
are moved or overturned.
The present invention relates
to a device for supporting a road sign which has the advantage of having a
stable seat, so that he does not risk
to be moved or knocked over by the breath
created during the passage, in its vicinity, of vehicles often traveling at high speed, although the support is simply placed on the ground.
According to the invention, the device for supporting a traffic sign comprises
a stable base carrying a pivot of a lever with two branches normally extending in a substantially vertical direction, a sign being secured to the free end of the upper branch of the lever, while means are provided for urging,
permanently, this lever to return substantially to the vertical position, when it has pivoted around the aforementioned pivot.
According to a feature of the invention, the base of the device consists of a structure comprising four feet. These feet advantageously consist of the end of four profiles, for example made of metal, essentially forming two triangles linked together by crosspieces
near their ends intended for
lean on the ground.
The aforementioned pivot is carried horizontally by the base or the aforementioned pairs of feet.
and itself carries a lever, advantageously in the form of a substantially rigid frame, of which a lower part or branch normally extends below the pivot, while its other upper part or branch normally extends above said pivot.
The pivot can be fixed, that is to say not rotatable, in which case the lever can pivot around it. This pivot can be rotatably mounted on the above base, in which case the lever
is integral with this pivot.
The upper branch of the lever, that is to say the branch which extends normally above the pivot, carries in the vicinity of its free end a panel which can be fixed therein non-removable or, preferably, removably. In the latter case, the support device can be used to support different panels.
The lower branch of the lever, i.e. the branch which extends normally
below the pivot, is permanently subjected to the action of elastic means, such as springs which tend to return the lever to a substantially vertical position. Advantageously, two springs are provided, each having one end fixed to
the lower arm of the lever and their opposite end attached to the base of the support device. Thus, one can provide a first spring connecting
one of the feet of the support to the lower branch of the lever and a second spring connecting another foot
from the support to the lower arm of the lever. The two springs can be mounted so as to extend between two diagonally opposite feet
of the basic structure of the device.
As for the sign, it can advantageously be made of a fabric
or a somewhat flexible sheet, one side of which is provided with an inscription or a signaling symbol, this fabric or this sheet being
stretched on tension and support means. The support means may consist of braces, at least one of which is removable, its ends being engaged in a gusset provided on the dorsal face of the fabric or of the sheet. The panel can be secured to the upper arm of the lever by at least one of the preceding cross-pieces.
Other features and details of the invention will emerge from the following description of an embodiment of a device for supporting a road sign. In this description, reference is made to the attached schematic drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 is an elevational view of a support device for a road or advertising panel according to the invention, in the partially deployed position with traffic sign;
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device according to the invention in the fully deployed position also carrying a sign.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
As shown in the drawings, the device according to the invention comprises a base
designated, as a whole, by the reference notation 2. This base comprises four feet 3, 4, 5 and 6. The pairs of feet 3, 4, 5, 6 form, when the device is deployed (see especially Figure 2 ), two substantially isosceles triangles 7, interconnected by crosspieces 8, 9 respectively connecting feet 3 and 4 and feet 5 and 6, these crosspieces 8, 9 extending horizontally at a short distance from the lower free ends 10 of the feet 3, 4, 5, 6, that is to say ends intended to bear on the ground.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
metal profiles, for example in the form of an angle. At their upper end 11, the pairs of feet 3,5 and 4, 6 are connected together by a rod 12 forming a pivot which passes through holes made in this end 11 and is held in place by nuts, which can be nuts blind, screwed on the opposite threaded ends of the rod 11. This rod 12 also passes through two longitudinal members 13, 14 forming with end crosspieces; 15; 16 an open frame generally designated by the reference notation 17. This frame 17 constitutes a lever with two branches 18, 19 which can pivot around the rod 12. In addition to the end crosspieces 15, 16, the frame 17 may include an intermediate reinforcement cross member 20.
As seen in Figures 1 and 2, elastic means constituted by two springs
flange 21, 22 are provided to permanently urge the lever 17 to remain in a substantially vertical position. The spring 21 connects the foot 4 to the lower cross member 15 of the lever-forming frame 17, while the spring 22 connects the foot 5 to the lower cross member
15 of lever 17.
The lever-forming frame 17 may consist of rigid metal profiles, the side members 13, 14 possibly being, for example, profiles
<EMI ID = 2.1>
end 15 and 16 as well as the possible intermediate reinforcement cross member 20 can also be made of metal profiles. In the embodiment shown in the drawings, the upper cross member 15 and the intermediate cross member 20 each consist of a flat iron, while the lower cross member 16 of the frame 17 is cylindrical.
At each of their ends, the springs
21, 22 are provided with a hook or an eyelet 23 fixed in an eyelet or hook 24 carried by the end crosspieces 15 and 16.
As can be seen, in particular, in FIG. 2, the springs 21, 22 extend between two feet 4 and 5 diagonally opposite from the base 2. Instead of two springs, only one can be provided or plan more than two. The springs 21, 22 can also, without departing from the scope of the invention, be replaced by other elastic means, such as bands of rubber or of elastic material
-similar.
In the deployed position, shown in FIG. 2, of the device according to the invention, the springs 21, 22 are tensioned so as to maintain
the lever forming frame 17 in a substantially vertical position. By cons, in the partially deployed position, illustrated in Figure 1, the springs 21, 22 are completely relaxed.
Between the feet 3, 4 on the one hand and the feet 5, 6 on the other hand are provided, substantially
at mid-height of these feet, from sleepers 25 each comprising two arms 26, 27 hinged to each other at one end, as shown in 28 and hinged at their other end to the side members 13, 14 as shown in 29. The pivot 28 to which the adjacent ends of the arms 26 and 27 are articulated are capped with an inverted U-shaped stop lever 30 which holds these arms
26, 27 in the extension of one another, when
the feet 3, 4, 5, 6 are fully extended, as shown in FIG. 2. On the other hand, by raising the stop element 30 in the direction of the arrow X, the arms 26, 27 can pivot around their joint 28,
<EMI ID = 3.1>
(as seen in Figure 1) and to overlap, when the device is fully folded. In this latter position, the feet 3 and 4 and 5, 6 are in contact with each other and the median plane of these feet coincides with that of the open frame 17 forming a lever.
In the vicinity of its upper end, the lever-forming frame 17 is provided with means for fixing a traffic sign designated as a whole by the reference notation 31.
In the embodiment shown in Figure 1,
these means consist of strips 32 fixed in
33 at the upper ends of the side members 13, 14,
these strips 32 being sufficiently elastic to allow the installation in the interval 34 of a support element (described below) of the panel
signaling 31.
The road sign 31 is
made of a fabric or a flexible sheet of
a suitable shape, for example square, on at least one side of which is printed, in an appropriate shade,
a symbol or an indication of signs, for example using a paint reflecting the light of the lanterns of a motor vehicle. The panel 31 made of fabric or another flexible material is advantageously kept stretched by means of two support braces 35 crossed at mid-length by a common rivet or pivot 36. The ends of these braces 35 are in the service position , engaged in gussets or pockets 37 formed on the dorsal face 38 of the panel 31 in the vicinity of the angles thereof.
For the installation of a traffic sign 31 on the lever-forming frame 17, it suffices to engage at 39 one of the cross-pieces 35 in
the intervals 34 between the lamellae 32 and the underlying parts of the side members 13, 14, in the direction of
arrow Y (see figure 1). To remove the panel 31, simply remove the cross 35 m
intervals 34 in the direction of arrow Z,
after which the ends of one of the cross-pieces 35 can be removed from the pockets or gussets 37 in
which these ends were engaged and then
rotate the spider thus released by 90 [deg.] so that it comes to be superimposed on the other spider 35, after which the sides of the flexible panel can be rolled up on the superimposed spiders. The assembly can then be placed in a sheath (not shown).
The support device for a traffic sign according to the invention is very stable in the deployed position. When a vehicle passes near the support device, the breath created by this passage allows the lever frame 17 to tilt, without the device overturning, the springs 21, 22 then acting so as to bring the lever 17 in a substantially vertical position.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the details described above and that numerous modifications can be made to
these details without departing from the scope of the invention.
Thus, other means of fixing the panels to the support device can be provided than those described above. Likewise, instead. to be made of a fabric or a flexible sheet, the panels themselves may optionally be made of sheet metal, plastic or any other flexible or substantially rigid material.
CLAIMS
1.- Support device for a traffic sign or the like, characterized in that it comprises a stable base carrying a pivot of a lever with two branches normally extending in a substantially vertical direction, a traffic sign being secured at the free end of the upper arm of the lever, while means are provided for permanently urging this lever to return substantially to the vertical position, when it has
pivoted around the aforementioned pivot.
