<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
pondants.
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>
<EMI ID=10.1>
<EMI ID=11.1>
<EMI ID=12.1>
<EMI ID=13.1>

<EMI ID=21.1>
<EMI ID=22.1>
<EMI ID=23.1>

The present invention relates to improvements made to a safety circuit breaker with high breaking capacity and reduced overall dimensions, of the type described in Belgian patent N [deg.] 635,412 of the applicant.
This patent describes a latching safety circuit breaker
<EMI ID = 1.1>
the phase concerned. This frame normally acts on the lever of a trigger to release a pawl secured to a shaft
<EMI ID = 2.1>
heavy. The release of this pawl, by means of an elastic return element, makes it possible to urge the contacts in their open position.
However, the high breaking capacity is in fact obtained by percussion of the same movable armature of the electromagnet with
the associated movable contact connected elastically to the aforementioned shaft.
The percussion force is a function of the intensity of the short circuit. The higher it is, the greater the effort.
In patent 635,412, at least one movable contact is associated with each pole of the circuit breaker which is associated on the one hand with a magnetic unlocking member and on the other hand with a thermal unlocking member. Under these conditions, the opening of this movable contact, during a short circuit of sufficient intensity, causes the simultaneous opening of the movable contacts associated with the other blades of the circuit breaker only by the release of the pawl secured to the shaft. carrying all of the movable contacts.
The invention makes it possible to overcome this drawback, so that:
<EMI ID = 3.1> mobile contacts associated with the other poles of this same circuit breaker.
To this end, the invention proposes a safety circuit breaker with manual engagement and magnetic and thermal unlocking members, comprising at least one movable contact element
<EMI ID = 4.1>
movable contact arm, the other end of which is rotatably mounted about a fixed axis, the circuit-breaker engaged state being ensured
<EMI ID = 5.1>
rotation around a fixed axis of a trigger lever,
one end of this lever supporting the free end of a pawl
<EMI ID = 6.1>
of this lever can be controlled by an electromagnetic trip member, as well as by a trip member
<EMI ID = 7.1>
associated with at least one movable contact, and in that said tripping lever is common to all the poles of the circuit breaker, each pole itself being associated with a thermal tripping member and with an electromagnetic tripping member, each tripping member electromagnetic such as the moving assembly of an electromagnet coming into contact with said lever which comes itself

simultaneously release associated fixed contacts.
Thus, the percussion effort caused by the moving assembly
<EMI ID = 9.1>
of the circuit breaker, is simultaneously transmitted to all the mobile contacts associated with the other poles of the circuit breaker. On the contrary, according to patent 635,412, each mobile unit came to strike directly and only the associated mobile contact.
According to an advantage of the present invention, the construction
of such a circuit breaker is more effective in the sense that a trip lever transmits the percussion force to all of the movable contacts simultaneously. Obviously, each movable contact is associated with a thermal and magnetic trigger member such

Other advantages of the invention will appear during the description which follows, with reference to the appended figure, given solely by way of example and in which the circuit breaker according to the invention is represented in a simplified perspective view .
Manual closing (position I) and opening control
(position 0) is obtained using a lever 1 and a frog-
<EMI ID = 11.1>
4 which is fixed to the end of a lever 5 integral with a shaft 6 and cooperating with a return spring 16. This shaft 6 rotatably supports at least two arms 100. More precisely, each end of each arm 100 is made integral with the shaft 6, while the other end of each arm 100 supports at least one contact
<EMI ID = 12.1>
cooperates with a fixed contact 12.
The retaining pawl 3 bears at its end on
<EMI ID = 13.1>
a fixed axis 13. In the latching position of the circuit breaker shown in the figure, the end A of the pawl 3 is exactly in the extension of the axis of rotation of the shaft 6, so that the hooking of the pawl 3 and of the arm 8 of the trigger lever 113 is independent of the position of the movable contacts 7.
The trigger lever 118 is in the form of a flat ribbon which passes below all of the fixed contacts 12. Each fixed contact 12 is electrically connected to the coil 10 of a

114. The electromagnets 109 are arranged on the other side of the
trip lever 118 with respect to the movable contacts 7 and the fixed contacts 12.
It is therefore important to note that the movable armatures 114
electromagnets can come into contact with the trigger lever 118, without cooperating directly with the movable contacts 7. To ensure the opening of each electrical contact
<EMI ID = 15.1>
<EMI ID = 16.1>
Each rod 115 extends perpendicular to the plane of the trigger lever 118, in the direction of an associated movable contact 7 and substantially in the extension of the movable assembly 114 of the associated electromagnet 109. The coil of each electromagnet is electrically connected to the associated fixed contact 12, while the movable contact 7 is electrically connected to a thermal trigger member 11 which also cooperates with the trigger lever 118, in a manner known per se.
In the example shown we define a first path
<EMI ID = 17.1>
<EMI ID = 18.1>
contact mabil e 7, a support arm 100 and a trip device
<EMI ID = 19.1>
identical considering the second electromagnet 109, the second arm 100 and the second thermal trip circuit 11, the
<EMI ID = 20.1>
In the event of a short circuit in one of the two electrical paths
<EMI ID = 21.1>
the movable armature 114 of the associated electromagnet whose coil 10 is traversed by this current, lifts and comes into contact with the trigger lever 118. The stroke of the movable frame 114 causes a rotation of the trigger lever 118 around the axis 13. In this way, the opening of the circuit breaker begins with the release of the pawl 3, causing, under the action of the return spring 16, the rotation of the axis 6. This rotation of the axis 6
causes the arms 100 to pivot and support the movable contacts
7 to move them away from the associated fixed contacts 12. In the case
a very violent short circuit, not causing an opening
<EMI ID = 22.1>
and the fixed contacts 12, the coil 10 associated with the short circuit,
<EMI ID = 23.1>
the axis 13, so that the rod 115 integral with the trigger lever 118 and in the extension of the frame 114 strikes the movable contact 7 associated to release it from the fixed contact 12 associated. In this way, a sudden cut-off of the circuit breaker is ensured.
It is important to note that the moving element 114 of each electromagnet 119 could in fact be directly extended by
a rod 115 for coming directly into contact with the associated mobile contact 7. However, in accordance with the invention, this moving element is split in two so as to accelerate the breaking on 'all of the poles of the circuit breaker.
With regard to the operation of the thermal trip members 11, it should be noted that they each act directly on the common trip lever 118 to release the pawl 3 and thus allow the opening of all the contacts of the circuit breaker.
Of course, the present invention is in no way limited
<EMI ID = 24.1>
as an example. In particular, it includes all the means constituting technical equivalents of the means described, as well
