<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>

This process has many drawbacks which to date

effective protection of the product to be packaged. Furthermore, this procedure is long and requires experienced personnel. When it is used with a cardboard, it requires means to keep this cardboard in shape so that it is not deformed by the pressure resulting from the expansion of the foam. Finally, this process has limited possibilities in terms of mass and volume.
The object of the present invention is to provide a method of manufacturing
<EMI ID = 6.1>
results in an expanded resin mass which is homogeneous, in an air pocket and perfectly ensures the mechanical, thermal protection and the sealing of the product to be packaged and does not cause any destruction thereof by the pressure of expansion, mine when this product is large.
This manufacturing process consists of:
- to use a mold of which all the walls, including its cover, are rigid and porous to gases and one of which has at least one orifice for the passage of a casting barrel in <EMI ID = 7.1> <EMI ID = 8.1>
- to place on the latter the object to be packed protected by a sealed envelope,
- to close the mold,
- In pouring through the casting gun a determined quantity of a reaction mixture whose components are associated with a blowing agent, and allow the production of a rigid foam with closed cells.
- to close the free end of the casting barrel,
- And demoulding, after expansion and polymerization of the reaction mixture.
The use of rigid walls porous to gases and of a casing which is also porous to gases has many advantages and in particular allows the air and the gases formed during the expansion of the reaction mixture to escape very quickly from the gas. the whole of the mold, by all its faces, and, consequently, allows, on the one hand, to give to the pressure exerted on the object to be wrapped a value barely greater than that of the atmospheric pressure and, on the other hand, to use resin formulations having a very fast reaction, which reduces con-

In addition, due to its simplicity this mold is inexpensive, so that the process can be used to produce large-sized packages which, until now, could not be made from resin <EMI ID = 10.1>
expansion pressure which may damage the object to be packaged.
It should also be noted that, under the action of the expansion of the reaction mixture, the synthetic resin binds
to the porous envelope but does not pass through it which is therefore never embedded in the mass of this resin.
In a preferred embodiment, the mold is formed by an open box the walls of which are perforated and by a cover which is also perforated but removable.
Due to its constitution, this mold has a colt several times lower than that of a mold of the same dimensions intended to allow the manufacture of an expanded resin body by the traditional method in which the gas is exhausted. entirely through the top of the mold or through vents.
