Abstract

Biotin is prepd by enzymatic oxidn of the title cpd of formula (I): in the presence of a micro organism. Pref. strains of microorganism are Pseudomonas mutabilis B-3253 Ferm-P No. 1429, Corynebacterium primorioxydans B-321 Ferm-P No. 1427 and C.primorioxydans var forte B-323 Ferm-P No. 1428. Fermentation takes place in a culture medium contg sources of C and N and trace elements at pH 4-8 and 25-37 degrees C pref. with aeration and stirring for 2-7 days. biotin is a food additive and is also used in the fermentation ind.
