Abstract
1,186,959. L-Threonine by fermentation. KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO. Ltd. 22 Oct., 1968, No. 50117/68. Heading C2C. L-Threonine is produced by culturing a diaminopimelic acid requiring micro-organism capable of yielding L-threonine and belonging to the genera Aerobacter, Serratia, Arthrobacter or Bacillus under aerobic conditions in an aqueous nutrient medium containing diaminopimelic acid. In certain cases lysine may be substituted for at least a part or all of the diaminopimelic acid in the medium. The process is preferably effected at a temperature between 20‹ and 40‹ C. and in the pH range of 4À0-9À5 employing a diaminopimelic acid concentration of from 10-300 mg/l. Specified organisms are Aerobacter aerogenes ATCC 21321, Serratia marcesens ATCC 21212, Arthrobacter paraffineus ATCC 21322, and Bacillus megaterium ATCC 21209.
