Un autre but de la charnière élastique selon la présente invention est celui de garantir le caractère indéformable de la monture sur laquelle cette charnière vient se fixer. Selon la présente invention, cette charnière qui lie la partie frontale à la branche de la monture comprend essentiellement : une fourchette composée d'un bout encastré dans la partie frontale de la monture et de deux bras; un moyen à compression élastique inséré à l'intérieur de la fourchette; une plaque d'arrêt fixée à ladite partie frontale de la monture entre ledit moyen à compression élastique et ladite branche de la monture; en conséquence ledit moyen à compression élastique est limité à sa partie supérieure par ladite plaque et à sa partie inférieure par le ' bout de ladite fourchette;

"Elastic hinge for the spectacle frame"
The present invention relates to an elastic hinge for the spectacle frame and in particular an elastic hinge having two positions of stability which allow the spring opening and closing of the temples of the glasses as well as the perfect adaptation and perfect adhesion to the temples. branches.
It is currently known that the movements of opening and closing of the branches for glasses are made by hinges attached to the branch and to the front part of the glasses.
The aesthetic advantage and the lightness of the frames using such hinges are however largely counterbalanced by the drawbacks due to a precarious adhesion to the temples of the branches of the frame provided with such hinges as well as to their fragility.
In order to remedy these drawbacks, hinges have been created allowing an elastic separation towards the outside of the temples of the glasses.
Such hinges, known from a technical point of view, owe their elasticity to the presence of a leaf spring fixed to a fork embedded in the branch of the frame.
This fork constitutes one of the two parts of the hinge, the fixed part of which is integral with the front part of the glasses. However, the glasses using these hinges
<EMI ID = 1.1>
their front part as well as their branches, these deformations being due to the low sensitivity of the blade of the fork embedded in the mobile branch.
The object of this invention is to provide an elastic hinge for spectacles which allows the opening and closing of the frame by spring movements.
Another object of the present invention is that of providing an elastic hinge which allows perfect adhesion to the temples and stability of the glasses even when the subject who uses them is obliged to make very sudden movements.
Another object of the elastic hinge according to the present invention is that of guaranteeing the undeformable nature of the frame on which this hinge is fixed. According to the present invention, this hinge which connects the front part to the branch of the frame essentially comprises: a fork composed of an end embedded in the front part of the frame and of two arms; elastic compression means inserted inside the fork; a stopper plate secured to said front portion of the frame between said elastic compression means and said leg of the frame; consequently said elastic compression means is limited at its upper part by said plate and at its lower part by the end of said fork;
said hinge is characterized in that a pin perpendicular to the axis of said branch and passing through a hole made in the lower part of the branch articulates it to the arms of said fork by means located at their ends, said ends of these arms extending beyond the stop plate, outside said front part of the frame.
The present invention will now be described in more detail with reference to a preferred embodiment illustrated by the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a sectional view, schematic, of a particularly preferred embodiment of the present invention . Figure 2 is an axonometric view of the fork in the hinge of Figure 1. Figure 3 is a side view of the box which. contains the moving parts of the hinge, and Figure 4 is a plan view of the box shown in Figure 3.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, we observe a section of the end 3 of the fork 2 which with the spring 7 constitutes the movable part of the fork 2 seen in section at <EMI ID = 2.1>
The fork 2 in figure 2 is rotated 90 [deg.] From the mounting position shown in figure 1. As shown in figure 2 the end 3 of the fork has a hole 4 in its central part. while the arms 6, which are not shown in the section of FIG. 1, have a hole 5 at their ends. The spring 7 in the mounting position of Figure 1 is located between the end 3 of the fork 2 and the lower surface of the stop plate 11 fixed to the surface of the front part 20 of the branch 21 of the frame. The
- stop plate 11 has a threaded hole 12 in which the shank 9 engages passing through the hole 4 of the end 3. The shank 9 carries the plate 8, the upper surface of which is in contact with the lower surface of the end 3 of range 2 when the branch <EMI ID = 3.1>
in this position, the spring 7, although reaching the maximum elongation allowed, equal to the distance between the two surfaces of the plate 8 and the plate 11, is in compression tension.
As illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the fork 2 is articulated to the branch 21 by means of a pin 15 passing inside the holes 5 of the arms 6 and inside the hole 14 of the branch 21.
In fact, FIG. 1 shows the hinge element 30, welded to the core 31 of the branch 21 of the glasses, in which the hole 14 is drilled. The hinge element 30,
<EMI ID = 4.1>
killed with a very resistant metal plate in which the hole 14 is drilled.
Figure 1 also shows the operation of the elastic hinge according to the present invention. Said char- <EMI ID = 5.1>
degrees of freedom as well as two stable equilibrium positions. The two degrees of freedom are given by the possibility of rotational and translational movement that the elastic hinge grants to the branch; ' the two positions of stable equilibrium are those where the front part 20 of the frame allows the balancing of the forces that the tension of the spring 7, by the fork 2, communicates to the branch 21, that is to say, the the position where the branch is open and the position where the branch is closed.
In particular, by removing the branch 21, the latter will not be in a position of stable equilibrium, which is why a frame using the elastic hinge according to the present invention allows perfect adherence of the branches to the temples and consequently excellent stability particularly appreciated when a person, forced to wear glasses, finds himself in the necessity of making rapid and sudden movements.
Figure 1 and more particularly Figures 3 and 4 show respectively, in the mounting position in side view and in plan, a preferred embodiment of the box
13 enclosing the movable parts of the elastic hinge according to the present invention.
Figures 3 and 4 show the basic parallelepiped shape of the box, which has in correspondence of each of its smaller faces, on one side only, a toothed appendage 33 which allows a more secure attachment of the box to the inside the frame where it is recessed as shown in figure 1.
The stop plate 11 screwed into the threaded end
10 of the tail 9 constitutes the cover of said box, the bottom of which is the plate 8 of the tail 9.
It should be understood that the present invention is not
in no way limited to the embodiment described and that
many modifications can be made without going beyond the
framework of this patent.
