Abstract
Appts. for producing a liq. fuel/water emulsion (I) particularly for injection into a shaft, esp. blast furnace comprises a metallic, pref. steel enclosure (II) which is sealed and is situated outside the furnace, and >=3 channels of which >=2 are used to supply (II) with liq. fuel and water vapour and the third is used as the outlet for the obtd. mixt., and which constitutes the connection between (II) and a furnace injection pipe. The dimensions of (II) and the arrangement of the channels are such that allowing for the mass temp. and press of the two fluids they meet and mix and water vapour is condensed in the liq. fuel before the mixt. leaves the injection pipe, producing a fine (I). In a process for prodn. of (I), the flow press. of the fuel and water vapour in (II) are regulated so that the wt. of the water vapour is 3-30, pref. 5%, of the wt. of the liq. fuel and the water vapour is condensed before the mixt. leaves the injection pipe.
