Abstract

In a process for coating textiles with expanded products using molten polymers, a block of thermoplastic resin is melted in a blender with cylinders conveyed to a constant level tank and then forced along a jacketted tube onto the support to be coated. The polymer is pref. formed from a copolymer capable of reaction with one or more copolymerisable monomers. The reacting copolymer may be e.g. butadiene-styrene and the reactive monomer preferably ethylenically unsaturated with reactive substituents e.g. triallyl cyanurate. Applying the polymer in molten form reduces heating times and by lowering temp. allows the use of a wider range of synthetic fibres.
