<EMI ID=1.1>
("Brauwelt" Yg. 101, 1961 Nr. 50 Blz. 1097 - 1102).
<EMI ID=2.1>

<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=10.1>
<EMI ID=11.1>

The invention relates to a method for tapping liquids, in particular beer, in containers, in the absence or in the small presence of liquids, by means of a filling pipe descending into the container.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
applying this method.
The harmful influence of atmospheric oxygen on various liquids, such as beer, has been since
long known. In addition, it is also known that the amount of oxygen remaining in the free space of a filled container exerts a deleterious effect on such liquids.
This is especially the case when filling beer into bottles. ("Brauwelt" Yg. 101, 1961 No. 50 Pages 1097-1102).
<EMI ID = 2.1>
filled if no measures are taken against air intake. The oxygen in the air increases the redox potential, causing oxidations and changes to the original beer characteristics, such as palating flavor, protein turbidity and aging, to continue.
The only way up to now to eliminate the harmful influence of the air content of bottle necks during normal tapping into air has been in some way in the filled but still
<EMI ID = 3.1>
wherein the CO2 gas rising in the form of foam bubbles displaces the air in the free space of the bottle.
<EMI ID = 4.1>
reach for the filled bottle to be knocked on its outer wall by means of a beating device to release CO2 gas by the shocks.
The CO2 separation by ultrasonic vibrations is increasing in importance.
It is also possible to achieve the desired foam formation by means of CO2 insufflation, whereby this
<EMI ID = 5.1>
the empty space above the beer mirror, the strength of the ultrasonic vibrations and the beating devices is not sufficient to raise the foam to the desired degree
to increase.
All these methods for obtaining
foaming with the aim of displacing the air present in the bottle, however, has several drawbacks. These disadvantages consist in particular in that the
very difficult, the foam in each bottle is evenly <EMI ID = 6.1>
difficulty increases as the capacity of the filling machine increases.
In addition, the foam structure formed in the neck of the bottle is very dependent on the beer
and in the case of foam with large bubbles, large amounts of air can remain trapped between the CO2 bubbles, so that in order to obtain as little air as possible, a large loss of beer must be accepted.
Another method of reducing the amount of air in the empty space of the bottle consists in tapping into a CO2 medium.
In this case, carbon dioxide is introduced into the empty bottle and pressurized to the tank of the filler, working either with a common space for back-pressure and return air or with separate spaces for this.
This method has the disadvantage that the un-
<EMI ID = 7.1>
is being repressed. Because of the good mixing of CO2 and air, pre-rinsing with CO2 produces a very poor carbon dioxide yield.
The latter methods are therefore hardly eligible. On the one hand because of the high air content
in the free space of the bottle and on the other hand because of it
<EMI ID = 8.1> <EMI ID = 9.1>
however, an additional device is required which immediately before the actual filling process causes the air to be discharged from the bottles.
Despite these additional measures with "black" filling, i.e. without foaming, the residual amount of air in the filled bottles is high under certain conditions. In order to make the free space of the bottles largely air-free, foam formation, for example by tapping, is still necessary, despite these measures.
The still possible reduction in air entrapment due to very low pressure tapping represents only an emergency solution and is used from time to time with ultrasonic vibrations and beaters, including in large monobloc devices in which the time for the rise of the foam is limited and due to the short time duration the vibration and shock energy are not large enough to obtain enough foam.
The object of the invention is to avoid the drawbacks of the known methods and devices, in order to obtain as little air entrapment as possible in the containers and to make this possible with relatively low costs when tapping any kind of liquid, in particular beer.
This object is achieved according to the invention by means of a filling pipe descending into the container, with which the container is filled smoothly, whereby the free space which is created by removing the filling pipe.
the container is continuously filled with a protective gas that is not harmful to the liquid from the outside.
The invention differs from the tot
Methods known hitherto, characterized in that the gas which displaces the air and protects the liquid is not obtained or released from the liquid, for example by tapping, but that this gas enters the container from outside after filling. has ended,
<EMI ID = 10.1>
which, among other things, in the uniform quality of the drained liquids and in the low consumption of protective
gas can be seen. When tapping beer, the losses caused by overfoaming have been almost completely avoided. In addition, the additional devices required hitherto, in particular beaters or vacuum pumps, are no longer used. The main benefit

substances, as a result of which the harmful effects of the atmospheric oxygen are avoided and the service life of the drained liquids is considerably increased. By the method of the invention it is possible to tap into air and thereby reduce the air content in the free spaces of bottles to the same extent as was done by foaming after filling in carbon dioxide with prior evacuation of air from the bottle.
According to the invention carbon dioxide or nitrogen can be used as gas without harmful influence on the liquids. A mixture of both gases can of course also be used.
For the application of the method according to the invention, a device consisting of a filling tap with a filling pipe connected thereto, along which a centering cup can be moved with radial play, this centering cup carrying a gasket for counteracting.

see openings which serve for the introduction of liquid and the removal of the gas displaced by the rising liquid. The device according to the invention is characterized in that the space above the centering cup and around the filling pipe is closed, into which a supply line for the gaseous medium opens. The enclosed space can be delimited by means of a gastight telescopic tube or an accordion-shaped sleeve which connects the draw-off cock to the centering cup and which surrounds the filling pipe at a distance.
It is also possible according to another embodiment of the invention to form the closed space within the centering cup, the filling pipe passing through a seal carried by that piece.
The gas, for example carbon dioxide, introduced into the enclosed space mentioned above, continuously penetrates into the container through the gap remaining between the centering cup and the filling pipe when this filling pipe is pulled out of the container. In this way the <EMI ID = 13.1>

this invention made the structure such that ten-
