 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  "Sheet metal profiled beam for construction."
Builders are well aware of the problems inherent in using traditional cold-rolled or hot-rolled beams or lattice girders, both in design and in shop fabrication.

   These problems are inevitable since the beams and the elements used to construct them, in the case of lattice beams, are as manufactured products.

   The very heavy weight of these beams often requires a great deal of labor and suitable lifting devices, which significantly reduce the cost of transport. On the other hand, the profiles delivered in standard lengths pose a problem of offcuts, which link-

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 job is frequently done long term, @ @ @
It is also necessary to apply difficult preparatory work to the abnormal profiles: they must be cut to the desired length, machined, welded to them the brackets or gussets for the various assemblies and fixings, etc.

   The profiled beam which is the object of the present invention provides a simple, safe and economical solution to all these problems and, moreover, it has the advantage of completely eliminating the application of the obligatory anticorrosive protection, given that. being cold rolled in continuous form from galvanized sheet metal, it is delivered directly to the job site, cut to the correct length, without scraps, therefore ready for use.

   In essence, the 1-shaped beam intended for construction and in question is characterized by the fact that the horizontal upper wing is constituted by a cream prismatic portion of substantially rectangular section, the upper face of which comprises a longitudinal groove of trapezoidal section designed for the embedding of dovetail parts, while the horizontal lower wing, also constituted by a hollow prismatic portion of substantially rectangular section, has a slot on its lower face longitudinal determined by the spacing of the longitudinal edges of the roll from which the profiled beam was formed by folding.

   Other characteristics and advantages of the beam in question will appear in the description below which refers to the appended drawings which illustrate, by way of non-limiting example, one embodiment.

   Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the profile of the beam.

   Fig. 2 is a side elevational view on a smaller scale of a beam fixed to structural elements by means of suitable plates.

   The fies. 3 and 4 each show in perspective the attachment of a sample or a purlin on the upper flange of the beam by means of a sliding jumper.

   Figs. 5 and 6 show, respectively in front elevation

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 and in perspective, the embedding in the lower wing of the beam

 . ,>,, ¯ ..,>, ,, of a partition element 'or' movable or fixed closing panel .- .. "'\ o: .t':"
Figs. 7 and 8 show, respectively in front elevation and in perspective, the fixing of a ceiling element in the lower flange of the beam by means of a support or sliding plate.

   The beam in question had in its upper flange 1 a longitudinal groove 2 with a trapezoidal section, designed for the embedding of dovetail parts and / or for receiving construction materials such as concrete.

   The lower wing 3 is provided with a longitudinal slot 4 determined by the distance between the edges 5 of the sheet from which om has formed, by bending, the profiled beam.

   This longitudinal slot is designed to receive the sapphire edge 6 of a separation panel 7 and to receive a fixing plate 8 of a ceiling element 9, the plate 8 resting on the horizontal fins 10 whose edges 5 determine the longitudinal window 4.

   The central web 11 of the beam is formed by two adjacent vertical portions of the sheet which constitutes the profiled beam.

   In the gap which remains between the two vertical portions constituting the core 11, it is possible to introduce a support plate 12 designed to fix the corresponding end of the beam to the respective structural element 13.

   The purlins 14 are fixed to the upper part 1 of the beam by means of the brackets 15 provided with jumpers 16, for example dovetailed (fig. 3) or else directly by means of these jumpers 16 (fig. 4).

   It is understood that anything which does not modify the essential part of the profiled construction beam described may be subject to variations in detail.
