<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

"Apparatus for dyeing fabrics and similar treatments".
This invention relates to apparatus used for dyeing fabrics and, generally, for treating fabrics and the like by soaking in a bath.
In the technique specific to these treatments, it is important, in order to obtain great regularity, both in surface and in depth, to unwind the fabric passing through the bath at constant speed and under regular tension.
From these conditions results a uniform treatment without prejudice for the realization of a complete automaticity as well of the unwinding and the winding of the fabric as of the control of the pressures and speeds required during the whole operational cycle.
A first object of invention conceived. do the realization
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of such a high performance automatic machine, in which the fabric is set in motion, both during unwinding and winding, by two hydraulic motors, which are combined with control means, respectively adjustment means , pressures at the inlet and at the outlet, these pressure differences being applied to ensure the control, respectively the permanent adjustment, of the tensions and tissue speeds required for optimum treatment.
Another object of the invention relates to the combination, in such a machine, of two pumps driven by the same electric motor and connected to the same reservoir containing the driving fluid, one of the pumps controlling the appropriate switching on of the device. tissue before starting the second pump connected to the inlet of the hydraulic motors, via a distributor-inverter.
Another object of the invention relates to the combination, in such a machine, of a means of controlling the flow rate of the main pump by means of an articulated system controlled, on the one hand, by a powered regulator. by the output of the hydraulic motor and, on the other hand, by an electromagnetic system.
Another object of the invention relates to the combination, in such a machine, of jacks associated with the feeler device ensuring the correct and permanent tensioning of the fabric, these jacks being supplied, one by a controlled pressure bypass of the auxiliary pump and the other by the outlet of the distributor-inverter connected to the hydraulic motors and connected, on the other hand, to a regulator, itself controlling the device for adjusting the output of the main pump.
Finally, yet another object of the invention relates to the combination of the pre-recalled means with electrical circuits combined in such a manner that the control and dial dials.

positions) all accessory instruments and equipment specific to such machines.
The operation is substantially as follows! the motor 1 being powered, simultaneously drives the two pumped 2-3. On start-up, the main pump 2 is prevented from delivering due to the ad hoc position of the valve 28 which controls the output of the pump. On the other hand, the auxiliary pump 3 flows into the valve 25, which is controlled by the tension dial.
As a result, the flow pressure of said auxiliary pump is thus controlled. And this control is such that the pressure of the oil sent to the cylinder 23, via the bypass line 27, corresponds to the pressure necessary to give the feeler roller 22 the predetermined pressure with which it must stress the fabric. And this pressure is itself determined by the tension required of the fabric in order to ensure the optimum treatment.
The flow rate of the main pump 2 is controlled by the lever 30, the position of which is itself controlled by the cylinder 31 supplied through the distributor 35 and the throttling device adjustable by the flow rate of the aforesaid auxiliary pump 3.
The electromagnet 36 having been energized during the starting of the machine by the operation of the single starting button, the distributor 35 was brought into its position of passage towards the cylinder 31. Nevertheless, the supply of the latter has undergone, with respect to the moment of starting of the engine 1, a certain retund by the action of the adjustment throttle device 34, And this delay was sufficient to ensure the proper tensioning of the having fabric by the action of feeler 22.
The lever 30 / has been moved, the main pump 2 delivers, through the valve 8. and the distributor-inverter 11, towards the inlet of the hydraulic motors 12-13. At the same time, said lever 30, supplied by a finger 38, hooks the movable assembly of the distributor 35, which is thus immobilized. We will observe, on the other hand, that the position of or
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
distributor 35 is controlled by speed dial 45, which determines, in a way, the flow line of main pump 2.
Indeed if, by said speed dial, the distributor 35 were to be moved relative to the lever 30, it would be brought into the exhaust position and, the cylinder 31 no longer being supplied, the result would be a stopping of the flow rate. the main pump 2. Thus, by this permanent control dependent on said speed dial, a permanent control of the flow rate of the main pump, ie. also for the supply of hydraulic motors 12-13.
It will be observed that this supply of said motors is effected through a valve! which controls the maximum pressure thereof and a reversing valve 11. The latter also controls the returns of said hydraulic motors 12-13 via conduits 16-17. The first of these returns is routed to the tension valve 19, via the conduit 18, while the second of these returns is directed to the speed controller 32 via the conduit 41.
It will be observed that the first of these returns to the valve 19 comes from the hydraulic motor 12 on the unwinding side and that said valve 19 coupled to the tension lever 21 causes the removal of oil necessary for the output of the unwinding motor in order to create the displayed voltage. The return of said valve 19 is effected on the aforesaid speed regulator 32,
Thus, indirectly, the feedback from the two hydraulic motors leads to said speed regulator 32.
The latter, thus controlled by the respective flow rates of the two hydraulic motors
12-13, influences by its lever 40 the position of lever 30 and, by this very fact, the flow rate of the main pump 2, which achieves a very flexible system to compensate for the speed differences resulting from the unwinding of the piece of fabric between the rollers 43-44 driven, respectively, by the hydraulic motors

The diameter of the coil on the unwinding side gradually decreases at the same time as the diameter of the roller on the winding side gradually increases.
It is therefore necessary to inversely vary the rotational speeds of the two hydraulic motors, which, comma

it has just been described, is obtained in a flexible, comfortable and precise way axtrmaritanfi by controlling the flow rate, r05p0ct1vomont the output of the two hydraulic motors.
It will also be observed that this permanent adjustment is carried out without any prejudice to the constant pressure exerted by the feeling device on the fabric, which is obviously essential. The return of the speed regulator 32 is directly connected to the reservoir 4, just like the valve 25 and the dia- tributor 35.
EMI7.3
By correctly connecting the 3U regulator valve, the starting speed of the machine will be possible.
It will be noted that this mine in operation can be done at the intcrventior of a single operating element which, causing the starting of the engine, will automatically ensure the flow of the auxiliary pump 3, the setting in motion of the cylinder 31, of the levers 30-29 and valve 28 controlling the flow of the main pump.
It will also be observed that movements of small amplitude in the operation of the jack 31 will result from

the installation, the power supply to the electromagnet 36 is cut; the distributor 35 is placed in the emptying position towards the reservoir 4, via the pipe 48; the cylinder 31 empties as already explained previously; the lever 30 again operates the switch 39 which opens the general electrical circuit of the machine.
In this embodiment, it is obviously possible to envisage numerous variants, in particular by the choice of the different devices and equipment which, while being very different from those described, can contribute to the same aims and results.
Also, in embodiments, it is possible to duplicate certain devices or equipment with a view to increasing the performance of the apparatus, or even with the aim of increasing its flexibility (operation and efficiency.
Thus, in a preferred embodiment, the pump

ensure the pressure required for the hydraulic motor on the rolling side. Self-regulation between these two main pumps can easily be ensured by any known device, for example by 'jack. /
It goes without saying that the various written elements may be replaced by any equivalent element or arrangement or of an equivalent function. Likewise, the relative position of these different elements is essentially deniable, which is why they have only been shown schematically in the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to all machines or types of machines applying one or more of the characteristics described.
