<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
D'autres caractéristiques de l'invention seront encore décrite* ci-après sur la bas. du dessin annexé à titre exemplatif, où l'on voit en : figure 1 une vue de profil d'un noyau d'assemblage destiné à réaliser le procédé de liaison suivant l'invention;

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Connection method for building elements, in particular tubular, and device for carrying out this method.
The present invention relates to a connection method for building elements of any section,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
particularly tubular., intended for the manufacture of furniture of all kinds, framework., scaffolding and the like, and devices used to carry out this process
There were already several methods and devices for the assembly of tubular construction elements., But they have the drawback of being often complicated to produce and of poor aesthetic presentation preventing their use in the manufacture of furniture between others,
By connecting porocédé according to the invention makes it possible to achieve any fixing and any assembly and excellent rigidity cover, in a simple and aesthetic manner. This method makes use of known techniques consisting in fixing on one of the elements to be assembled, provided with a suitable notch, an assembly core by a system of lugs and in embedding on this core the other element to be assembled.
According to 1 * invention, the connection method is characterized in that it consists in dimensioning two ergtoB mounted on the bearing face of the core in such a way that they entirely occupy the ends of the notch and match the walls of said notched by corresponding surfaces, and to position these lugs relative to the longitudinal axis of the core, in such a way that they allow the sliding between them of a threaded central rod provided with an elongated head corresponding to the notch of the element to be assembled and the width of which corresponds to the distance between the lugs.
Still according to the invention, the positioning of
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
the head between the lugs in the tightening function and the locking of said head in this position are achieved respectively by the return action of a spring and by the tightening of a nut, spring and nut both being mounted on the threaded rod on the side opposite to the support face of the core.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the assembly core is provided with a longitudinal perforation in steps respectively for the passage of a threaded rod and the housing of a coil return spring, said rod being provided with the- beyond the spring on the side opposite the bearing face of the core of a éorou and a split end, and two lugs disposed on said bearing face on either side of the perforation and intended to support the elongated head of said threaded rod,
the external and internal profiles of lugs adapting respectively exactly to the shape of the notch provided in one of the elements to be assembled and to the width of said elongated head.
Other features of the invention will be further described * below below. of the accompanying drawing by way of example, in which can be seen in: FIG. 1 a side view of an assembly core intended to carry out the bonding method according to the invention;

tubular according to figure 4 with a section in the sections.
As has been said, the method of connecting construction elements according to the invention consists in joining together two elements of any section by means of an assembly core, the fixing of which is carried out on one of the elements. by a lug system. In the description relating to the drawing, there will always be a question of tubular elements of square section, but by way of example only, since it is understood that the invention relates to any section of tube, square, round, oval, etc., as it is possible to apply the invention to the connection of tubes of different sections as to their shape or their dimensions.
An assembly core is shown in Figures 1 and 2. It is formed of a body 1 of square section substantially equal to the internal section of the tubes to be assembled.
This body can be made of any suitable material, metal, plastic, etc. The interior of the core is provided along the longitudinal axis with a perforation 2 having here, for example, three different dimensions, decreasing towards the support or fixing face 1 'of the core. In said stepped perforation is introduced a rod 3, the diameter of which is slightly less than the smallest dimension of the perforation 2, so as to be able to move freely in the latter along its axis or around its axis. This rod 3 protrudes from the fixing side of the core and has at this end an elongated head 3 '.
In the central part of the perforation 2 is housed a coil spring 4 wound around said rod and in the part of larger dimension
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
from said perforation is introduced a hole 5 which is screwed onto the other 3 "end of the rod 3, which is threaded at this point over part of its length or which can be threaded over its entire length. This end 3" is provided with a slot 6 to allow ordering. rotation of the elongated head by means of a lifter or the like and place it in a determined position.
Towards the interior, the éorou 5 is in contact with the spring 4, which it is responsible for compressing, by means of a washer 7.
The elongated head 3 ', after introduction into a notch of corresponding shape of a tubular element, on which the assembly core 1 is to be fixed, is turned 90 and thus blocked across the notch.
Thanks to the spring 4, the elongated head tends to press constantly against the fixing face 1 'of the core 1 and, consequently, to allow the rotation of said head in its housing beyond the notch of the tubular element, it is essential to press on the 3 "end of said rod before performing the rotational movement, but to facilitate the introduction of the system and to obtain excellent rigidity of the core in place, the bearing face 1 'of said core is provided with two lugs 8 arranged at the periphery of the perforation 2 on the same transverse axis with respect to this perforation and which, together, have a profile similar to that of said notch, and consequently to that of the elongated head 3 '(figure 3).
According to an advantageous embodiment, the ergota are dimensioned so that their spacing, from one end to the other, corresponds to the length of the notch, that their width corresponds to the width of the notch, that
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the spacing of their inner faoes corresponds to the thickness of the elongated head of the rod, and that their height is less than the thickness of said head. As for the head of the rod, it is rectangular, its width corresponds to the diameter of the rod and its length is at most equal to the overall spacing of the ergota.
Thanks to the method according to the invention, the assembly has excellent rigidity, owing to the fact that the notch provided in one of the elements to be assembled is entirely filled by the lugs and the rod.
The binding method according to the invention is very simple to apply. Or to have to join together two tu @ wing elements of identical square section, such as 9 and 10 in Figures 4 and 5, in any suitable material: The tubular element 9 is provided with elongated notches 11 with rounded ends, these notches which can be distributed in an appropriate manner over the length of the tube and over one or more of its faces. On the other hand, the notches shown in the drawing are arranged trans. versally with respect to the axis of the tube, but of course, for example for ease of manufacture, these notches can be arranged along the axis of the tube.
A single notch is used for placement of a core, but the tube has various notches for assembly in various places.
The core 1 is applied against the tube 9, after having pressed the rod 3 forward so that the head 3 'after rotation rests on the lugs 8, and the head 3' and lugs 8 - assembly is introduced into the 'notch 11 chosen for fixing. The face 1 ′ of the core being in contact with the external face of the tube 9, the rod 3 is acted on through the slot 5 to make it turn 90 or more.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
quarter turn. At this time, the head 3 * integral with the rod 3 has also turned 90 and is placed across the notch 11. By the spring 4, said head tends to rest against the internal wall of the tube. 9 and to fit between the lugs 8.
To increase the pressure of the head 3 'against said wall, the spring 4 is compressed by screwing the nut 5, the head 3' still remaining in the same plane and the lugs 8 progressing inside the notch 11.
By this pressure of the head 3 'against the internal wall of the tube 9, the core is held firmly in place and, the lugs blocking the notch, the slightest rotation of the core is prevented while the head 3' engaged between the lugs is finds itself blocked.
The core being placed, it is then sufficient to fit thereon the end part of the tube 10, which has been indented for this purpose on one of its faces, as can be seen in the drawing at 10 ', with a length of monk equal to the length of the nucleus. The longitudinal edges of the core have been chamfered to facilitate placement on said core of the tubular element to be embedded. To hold said element on the core, the folded ends 12 of said element are introduced into grooves provided between the element to be assembled 9 and the core 1, thanks to the fact that the bearing face 1 'has a section smaller than the core. section properly aite of said core.
It is possible by this method to assemble several tubes 10 to a tube 9 at suitable locations thereof, just as other tubes can be assembled to tube 10, provided that the latter is provided with the appropriate notches.
One of the advantages of the process according to the invention
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
consists in that it allows mounting at the same level in several directions, four for example in a square tube and more if it is a tube of polygonal section.
As an element to be embedded on the core, it is possible according to the invention to use a tube with a cross section, for example square or rectangular, not closed, that is to say not welded, or even a U-shaped section of the same section as the tube 10, the open part of the profile serving as a cutout.
It is still possible thanks to the process according to the invention to fit a cross member between two amounts already placed.
The method according to the invention is particularly applicable b. the connection of tubular elements and particularly of square section, but it would not be departing from the scope of the invention to apply this method to construction elements consisting of profiles of suitable section.
