<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
chape double 12.

Folding sled in two articulated parts.
The present invention relates to a folding sled which is characterized by aa realization with two elements articulated with respect to each other by means of a cardan shaft with connecting tube. These elements of the sled form respectively a fixed seat and a movable footrest, to allow on the one hand their vertical and independent orientation according to the profile of the terrain and on the other hand the horizontal orientation of the front element.
When folding, the articulated elements are superimposed by folding as a result of the articulation of the cardan shaft and the whole is in a reduced volume * This sled also allows by its element, behind the coupling of other elements to constitute a toboggan train with an articulated element at the front

This folding sled in two articulated elements essentially comprises a rear element 1 forming a seat with laterally two symmetrical sides 11 formed of judicious tubes! ment arched.
Each symmetrical side 1 forms two horizontal branches including a lower branch 1 2 of shorter length re-; curved at its end by a rounded 1 3. The upper branch; is extended at the front to form a rounded and squared part 14 reopening at the end a tab 2. The latter allows the fixing of the end of the pad P which is also held by bolts passing through the lower arm 12.
The symmetrical sides 11 thus produced are connected and assembled on the one hand by means of a rear spacer 3 curved at its ends and on the other hand by a horizontal tube 4. The latter in the form of a V very open to its middle part constitutes at its ends two rounded parts sy. metric! 1 which protrude outwardly from the sides 11 and are assembled by their branches on the parts 13 and 14.
The rear element 1 thus produced is completed by boards 5 bearing on the spacers 3 and ± and fixed by bolts or by any other means'.
The front element μ forming a footrest is established essentially with two symmetrical sides 61 conforming to the sides 11 but arranged transversely with a smaller spacing. These symmetrical sides 61 which also allow the fixing of the shoes 2 1 are connected and assembled by the spacers 7 - 8 - 9 and 10 of the same length. the independent elements 1 and 6 thus produced are coupled together via a connecting member forming an oardan.
To this end, the rear spacer 7 of the front element 6 allows its middle part to fix a U-shaped vertical support 11 intended to allow the articulation of a
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
double clevis 12.
The double clevis 12 is articulated in a horizontal plane on a vertical axis 13 passing through the support 11 and allows at its rear end the free vertical articulation of a connecting tube 14 held by the horizontal axis 15.
The connecting tube !! is also articulated at its opposite end on a horizontal axis 16 held by a vertical support 17 integral with the median part of the horizontal tube,
According to these arrangements, it can be seen that the independent elements 1 and 6 thus coupled are movable vertically with respect to one another, by means of the axes 15 and 16. This arrangement independently authorizes the movement in height of each element as it passes through a hole or over a bump. On the other hand, as a result of the articulation of the double ohape 12 on the axis 13, the front element 6 is orientable horizontally with respect to the rear element 1.
As a result, the user who is seated on the rear element 1, keeping himself manually on the sides 11, can with his feet press on one of the corresponding spacers of the element 6 for changes of direction. * It should be noted for this purpose that to avoid any unexpected transverse sliding of the element 6, the patinas are equipped longitudinally along their bearing faces, with metal bands 18 fixed by screwing or by any other means.
This sled thus produced can also be folded by simply overturning an element on the neighboring element as illustrated in FIG. 4.f
It should also be considered that according to the invention, it is planned to couple together several rear elements 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
by means of chains 0 respectively connecting a

removably the spacer z to the horizontal tube of the next element. According to this arrangement forming a sledging train, each "'user asnis on a rear element rests his feet on the rounded parts projecting from the prdeddentr element.
It should also be considered that this sledging train thus produced preferably comprises a front element 6 for the changes of direction which are also obtained by the support of the feet of the users on the rounded parts.
In the embodiment illustrated in a variant according to Figures 7 to 13, the rear element 19 is formed of two tubes
EMI5.2
symmetrical 3,9, curved at the front in 2 to form legs and serve as a means of connection with the patina g.
At the rear the symmetrical tubes the) respectively form a U-shaped bzz profile arranged vertically, the end of the free branch of which is rolled up horizontally in order to connect with the curved parts 201 forming overhanging handles of the transverse tube 20. This tube 20 supports by its parallel branches the boards forming the seat or support plane.
The symmetrical tubes 191 are connected transversely at the rear by a spacer 22 also serving as a support
EMI5.3
and for fixing to the boards 21t fixed by screws preferably with ribbed head and forming a large support plane.
The front element 23 of the sled, forming a footrest and
EMI5.4
steering member # as in the previous embodiment has two tubular sides 92 1 laterally curved at the front end to form tabs intended to be fixed to the pad p1. The angled rear end protrudes

lanyard in parallel with part 25 1 to be fixed to the branches of the transveraale spacer 24 in the form of a pontet and which also serves to fix the connecting member.
The latter is thus brought back by praying within Isolation

tees 231. The spacer 24 and the tube 20 of the two elements of the sled are connected by a coupling device consisting of a bent tube 26 whose rear end is centered horizontally at 27 in a yoke 28 fixed according to the middle part of the tube 20 '.
The front end of the tube 26 is doubly articulated vertically and horizontally by means of two juxtaposed yokes 29 and 30 journalling freely on a horizontal axis 31 so as to allow their independent rotation. The connection of the yoke 30 to the transverse spacer 24 is obtained as in the previous embodiment.
The shoes P and p1 are made in a variant, in cut and profiled sheet as illustrated in FIGS. 12 and 13. In this qas the bearing face of the tubes 191 is centered by embedding in a longitudinal rib P2. On the other hand, in order to give greater rigidity to the pads, the longitudinal edges are folded back at P3. The pads can also be of molded material such as plastic ...
The advantage of the connecting device of the front and rear elements, which provides articulation in all directions, is emphasized.
The judicious profiling of the bent tube 26 results in components of thrust of the rear insulation 20 of the sled on the front element 23 so that the latter is pressed against the track avoiding tipping or. oabrage '.
