<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Feeding device for meat mills or similar machines.
Meat grinders which chop the meat rather coarsely beforehand are often combined with meat grinders: which chop the meat more finely. In this case precisely, the horizontal axis meat mills offer important advantages.
On the one hand, it is possible to provide their feed hopper at the height of the outlet of the chopper and, therefore, to avoid a relatively inconvenient transport between these two machines. On the other hand, the overall height of the assembly is relatively small, which saves space and makes installation less expensive.
The existing installations have the drawback that the feed member of the mill rotating at high speed, of

preferably a helical centrifugal screw on its side ascending the received product. Therefore, not only is the feeding under the most favorable conditions hampered during continuous operation, but also the centrifugation of the product upwards prevents the helical screw from completely emptying the hopper by itself. feeding, at the end of the operation., ß
This being so, the object of the invention is to avoid these drawbacks.
This is achieved in a simple and very satisfactory way by covering the ascending side of the very fast rotating helical feed screw,
approximately to the top of the screw,.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the covering of the helical feed screw is formed by the wall of the hopper itself, the shape of which preferably matches that of the cross section of the screw.
Advantageously, the bottom of the feed hopper is inclined in the direction of introduction of the product, the helical screw preferably having a corresponding conical shape.
The appended drawing represents an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
In Fig.1 a feed device for a meat grinder 1 is provided immediately below the outlet 2 of a mincer. This device consists of a helical feed screw 4 which rotates for example at 3000 revolutions / minute with a horizontal shaft 3 and whose cross section increases conically in the direction of introduction of the product, this screw working in feed hopper 5.
As shown in Fig. 2, a cover 6, which approximately reaches the top 7 of the helical screw 4, overhangs the upward side thereof, indicated by the arrow A.
According to Fig.3, this covering is formed by the wall 8 of the hopper, which does not go completely to the top 7 of the screw and which covers the upward side of the latter by matching it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The bottom 9 of the hopper, in the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 1, is inclined in the direction of introduction of the product.
Its angle of inclination Ó approximately corresponds to the angle, of cone of the helical feed screw 4 ..
If the device is for example fed from the outlet 2 of a chopper, the product is effectively grasped by the fast rotating helical screw 4 and is fed into the meat grinder 1. The cover 6, as can be seen in Fig. 4, prevents the product from being centrifuged upwards, on the ascending side of the helical screw 4. centrifugation which would naturally cause the product to stick against the wall 8 of the hopper * This ensures an optimum supply of product during operation as well as a perfect transport in the meat mill, even at the end of the operation,
