<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 23>
<Desc/Clms Page number 24>
On peut aussi utiliser d'autres moyens équivalents qui produisent les mêmes effets, sans sortir du cadre de l'invention-.Ainsi, on peut disposer 'sur la mani- velle d'entratnemsnt deux doigts au lieu d'un. De même, le mode d'exécution de la sélection du plan de manoeu. vre peut avoir n'importe quelle autre forme;

electric, even of mass-produced gearboxes for motor vehicles, without modifying the fundamental construction of the mechanism intended for manual operation. The device of the invention can be attached to a conventional gearbox of motor vehicles and can optionally be produced so that it has the same connection dimensions as the cover of the conventional construction mechanism and replace the latter.
The device must perform the particular movements for changing gears, which must give the pairs of toothed gears of -. The gearbox, having to be brought into engagement, the possibility of equalizing the rotational speeds to the using the usual synchronization device.
According to the invention, in order to spare the synchronizations in the gearbox, the gear changing movement must substantially follow the shape of a sinusoid. As a result, the passage takes place smoothly and without jerky accelerations of any members of the mechanism. On the other hand, even before the actual passage of the individual speeds, a selection of the maneuvering plane must be possible. This selection of the maneuver plan must be completed before the start of the gear maneuver movement.
The known devices, which hydraulically cause the maneuvering of motor vehicles *, require a considerable expenditure in hydraulic control means and are not suitable for the simple
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
transformation of a gearbox pr @@ ue for manual control.
Magnetically controlled maneuvering devices of known design perform the maneuver very hard, since the maneuvering force of the magnet must be very great in order to obtain a safe maneuver. This condition excludes a flexible triggering of the maneuver. By maneuvering heavy gearboxes, it has been proposed to control the synchronization process individually, before the actual maneuvering operation.
A Maltese cross control is provided for this, which produces synchronization in its first operating stage, while the second stage produces the clutch of the pinions once the synchronization process is completed * This device is associated with a only the gearbox orne lives, but it is not suitable for solving the problem on which the invention is based and which consists in producing in a simple way in gearboxes, with the same operating member, both the selection of the maneuver plan and the gear change.
The invention eliminates the mentioned drawbacks. born from known maneuvering devices, by the fact that provision is made for the execution of the maneuvering movement, that is to say for the shifting of gears, a single-tooth control mechanism which has a finger or a analogous member moving on a circular path, controllable in two directions of rotation, preferably driven by a

For the moving finger, a rest position has been provided in which it presents its greatest distance to the non-maneuvering gold.

EMI4.3
The device according to the invention makes it possible to obtain that the movement of the speeds takes place in a sinuoidal direction and that the control motor can be braked flexibly, without a precise end position. And since the drive motor of the device can start and continue to rotate by inertia in the unloaded state,

only low starting currents are necessary -and the use of relatively small and inexpensive operating devices is sufficient. The sinusoidal operating movement ensures

Another essential advantage resided in the fact that the selection of the work plan in / area of the

This results in the movement of the organ of

<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
maneuver necessary in the gearboxes, it is possible to provide a set of cams which rotates with the drive shaft of the moving finger, that is to say that the set of cams can be mounted either directly on this shaft, so as to possibly be able to slide axially, either on a special camshaft driven, for example, from this shaft, by linter, mediating pinions. The cams have a shape such that they move the member effecting the selection of the maneuvering plane before the moving finger engages with the maneuver member.
At the point where the engagement is made, the cams have the shape of concentric circular arcs, so that in this zone a movement is excluded in the direction of a selection of the maneuver plane.
It is also possible to associate with @@ that maneuvering plane of a gearbox an individual maneuvering member and to bring into engagement with a finger by the corresponding axial displacement of one or more fingers connected with a shaft of common drive, each time one of these bodies -la manceure, so that the actuator in question performs the actuating movement. The axial displacement of the drive shaft of the moving fingers, necessary to carry out the selection of the maneuver plane, can be done already during its movement, but before the initial engagement of a finger with a maneuvering member.
The single-tooth mechanism provided in accordance with the invention can preferably be produced
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
sum mechanism called Maltese cross, in which the moving finger, serving as a control for a single tooth) re-engages on part of its trajectory in slots of the operating member made in the manner of a Maltese cross. The amber of trailsment of the finger engages by its periphery in suitable recesses in the form of arcs of a circle on the side of the tents of the actuator and immobilizes it securely in its individual working positions.
A lateral flattening of the control shaft allows the pivoting movement of the actuator as long as the moving finger remains in engagement with a tent of the actuator.
. But the maneuvering members can also have elastic stop members which immobilize them in their individual sufficient positions. In the case of the direct connection of the operating member with the control element of the gearbox, such a stop member can be neglected when the gearbox itself already has individual position locking. .
The drive motor of the device according to the invention is preferably connected by a reduction mechanism with the control shaft of the moving finger, so that the use of a motor of high rotational speed as well as of small dimensions and low price is possible.
Embodiments of the subject of the invention are shown, by way of nonlimiting examples, in the accompanying drawings.

This movement takes place in the region of the angle 50 of the cam, in this range of rotation the finger 3 rotating at the same time is not yet engaged with the operating shaft, so that during the movement of the transmission member, for the selection of the maneuvering plane, no movement is yet carried out for the passage of the corresponding gear of the gearbox.
In the angular range 51, the cam is made in the form of an arc of a circle, so that in this range, which corresponds to the gripping range of the finger in movement with the actuator, no axial displacement occurs. of the transmission member 34. It is only after the moving finger 3 is disengaged from the actuator that - the return of the transmission member 34 in the angular range 49 of the cam 27 or 28 can be done.
Without the action of the cams? ^ Or 28, that is to say when the lifting magnet 32 is not actuated, the transmission member 34 is for example in the maneuvering plane of the third and of the fourth gear.
When the first or second gear is to be operated, the lifting magnet 35 is actuated simultaneously with the switching on of the drive motor, so that the camshaft 24 is lifted to such an extent that the cam 27 can engage with the roller 47. To maneuver reverse gear, we have

91, 92 and 93 and the stop rod 95 subjected to the action of the spring 94 serves to immobilize this slide in the operating positions. Even the distances to the center of the detents 91, 92 and 93 correspond exactly to the diameter of the circular -rating of the moving deigt 3.
When the finger 3 is turned from the rest position 96, for example to the right, after a rotation of 90 c, it engages the tent 90 of the slide at point 97 and then is moved while the finger rotates on its trajectory from point 97 to point 98 in a measure corresponding to the diameter of the circular trajectory and it immobilized. in this new position in the notch

The same movement of the slide 87 occurs in the opposite direction when the finger is rotated from its initial position 96 by one full turn to the left instead of the right, so that when the crank control 1, 2 is rotated to the right or to the left of each time 360 in accordance with the control pulses, in a known manner, for example by an electric motor which is advantageously equipped with a parking brake and operating cams @ similar members corresponding moves in synchronism with the crank control, the movement of the slide for changing gears in a

Since the axes of the slots 89 and 90 form the tangents at points 97 and 98 to the path of the finger 3, the driving speed at the point 97 where the finger engages in the slide is zero; the movement of the slide in a sinusoidal direction is accelerated to the lower dead center of the path and then is slowed down again to zero at point 98 where the finger leaves the slide.
Fig. 12 shows a single tooth mechanism according to fig. 11, whose shaft 101 supported at 99 and 100 is driven by means of the tangent wheel 102 and the worm 103.
The sleeve 106 arranged axially sliding

with the lever 104 but without possible rotation pa the key engages in the groove 105, is provided on the shaft 101, two cams 107 and 108 being fixed on this sleeve.
A roller 111 is rotatably mounted in the rod 110 which can slide axially in the casing 109 and, the device is arranged so that depending on the position of the sleeve shown in the drawings, neither of the two cams 107 and 108 is in engagement with the roller 111 of the rod 110. By the movement of the lever
104 in the direction of the arrow, the cam 108 or the cam 107 can be brought into engagement with the roller 111 at will.
When the selection of the maneuver plane is carried out by the rod 110, it is possible, for example, to pass the third and the fourth speed with the slide without making the selection of the control plane, that is to say when the command of the two cammes is brought into engagement with the roller 111, and with the action. simultaneously with the selection of the maneuvering plane using the cam 108, the first and the second speed are passed, while with the simultaneous actuation of the selection of the maneuvering plane using the reverse gear.
The cams 107 and 108 are made so that they perform the axial displacement of the rod
110 on the section of the trajectory of the finger from the initial position 96 to paints 97 and 98, that is to say during 90.

the actuator is infinitely large at these points, that is to say at the start of the command. This reduction then decreases during the control which is carried out on the segment of circle 12 continuously until its minimum value and then again becomes infinitely large at the end of the control.
The allure of. maneuvering movement therefore corresponds to a sinusoid. By this sinuous pace of acceleration, gear change is effected with extremely great flexibility and the synchronization rings; sensitive are largely spared. The idling path 10 or 14 existing for the control crank makes it possible to select the maneuvering plane during this phase of the movement.
Fig. 14 shows a circuit diagram for the Operation of the electric motor, serving to explain the operation of the object of the invention. A reversible electric motor 118 comprising the field windings 119 and 120 is used. The motor can be switched on at will in both directions of rotation in a known manner using the control relays.
123 and 124 actuated by electromagnets 121
122. To trigger the two maneuvering movements, the two electro-magnets 125 and
126.
By the excitation of the electromagnet 125, which each time actuates a rest contact and a work contact, an operating movement is performed. When the electrical circuit of this magnet

is 4-. broken # the operating lever is pautîd at its
<Desc / Clms Page number 22>
intermediate position. When the other electromagnet;
126 is switched on, the other maneuvering movement is executed and after stopping this magnet the maneuvering lever is returned to its middle position in which the mechanism is put in neutral.
The two switches 127, 128 and 129, 130 cooperate with the switches 131, 132 and 133, 134, actuated by the control cams 55 and 56 (see also FIG. 2). The control cams 55 and 56 are driven in synchronism with the control crankshaft 17, in a gear ratio of 4: 1, so that these cams each make a quarter turn to the next. right or left during a maneuver movement. The control cam 55 is used to put the electric motor back on after the poles are reversed in order to return the operating lever to its central position.
Consequently, when a gear has to be shifted, the electromagnet 125 is energized. This has the effect of closing the contact 127 and opening the contact.
128. Given that now the operating lever is in its middle position, the contact 131 is closed by the cam 55 so that the electromagnet of the control relay 121 is energized.
This has the effect that the contacts 135 and 136 are interrupted and that the contacts 137 and 138 are closed with the contact bridge 123, so that the motor 118 starts rotating to the right through the closed contacts 139 and 140, of the maneuver relay 141, the cams 55 and 56 being turned to the right, and this
<Desc / Clms Page number 23>
until the recess 142 of the cam 55 has or @ the contact 131 after a quarter turn, so that the operating relay 121, deprived of current, interrupts the contacts 137 and 138 and stops the motor by switching it off circuit.
Now the current to the electromagnet 125 is interrupted, the contact 127 is open and the contact '128 is closed. But at this instant, the control cam 56 is also rotated by a quarter im for and the contact 131 is consequently closed, so that, through this contact, the other actuating relay 122 is put on. current and the contait and 140 are open and the contacts 141 and 143 are closed by the relay 124, so that the motor, after polarity reversal and excitation by the current,
starts by turning to the left @@ s until the control cam 56, which this time turns to the left, opens the contact 134 again after about a quarter of a turn and consequently interrupts the electric current of the operating relay 122, the motor stopping duy makes it again deprived of current.
The same control process can be performed by actuating the speed control magnet 126 using the AC contacts 129 and 130 in the opposite starting direction of the motor, so that using both shifting magnets 125 and 126, the shift lever can be moved from its middle position at will to either end position and back to its exactly determined middle position by operating device.
<Desc / Clms Page number 24>
When in mm time that the actuation of a gear control magnet, the electromagnet
35 (fig. 2 and 9) is also excited, a second maneuvering plane is actuated with the same movement of the maneuvering lever, so that four uitasses can be actuated with the same lever - lever and the reverse gear can be operated. also be actuated using the additional cam 28 (fig. 2 and @
The exemplary embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings and described here are only indicated as possible embodiments of the invention.
It is also possible to use other equivalent means which produce the same effects, without departing from the scope of the invention. Thus, it is possible to place on the crank between two fingers instead of one. Likewise, the mode of execution of the selection of the maneuver plan. vre can have any other shape;
it does not need to be carried out by the axial displacement of the operating lever, but it can on the contrary be obtained for example by tilting of the operating lever or by actuation of a corresponding member of the gearboxes, for example by rotating 'the operating rod of the mechanism *' The member carrying out the selection of the operating plane can also be controlled remotely, for example by means of a hydraulic tiller, or by a similar means. As the control motor, instead of an electric motor, it is possible to provide, in an equivalent manner, a hydraulic drive with appropriate control valves.
The arrangement according to the invention means
<Desc / Clms Page number 25>
only that the movement necessary for the selection of the maneuvering plane takes place synchronously with that of the drive crank of the single-tooth mechanism, namely in the part of its movement in which the drive finger n is not engaged with the actuator.
