Consequently, since the duration of closing of the switch 3 in its rest position is longer than previously, the period of actuation of the button 2 of the switch 3 is modified and therefore the operating power of the oven is changed .

Claims (5)

  1. Device for controlling the power of microwave ovens including a timer whose movement (1) drives a mechanism for the periodic actuation of the button (2) of a switch (3) mounted in the electric power supply circuit to the oven, and means (4) for selecting functioning modes which can be manoeuvred by the user and are designed to affect the actuation mechanism so as to modify the periods of closure and opening of the said switch (3) in order to obtain different cooking modes, characterised in that the periodic actuation mechanism comprises an actuator (5) which is mounted so as to be able to move against an elastic means (6) in a reciprocating movement and which carries a cam (7) designed to come to act on the button (2) of the switch (3), and a cylinder (8) which is rotated by the timer and which is mounted so as to slide along its rotation shaft (9) by means of a transmitter (10) fixed to the mode selection means (4), the said actuator (5) and the said cylinder (8) having respectively temporary mutual coupling means such as a toothed area (11) carried by the actuator (5) and at least one meshing area (12) provided on the lateral surface of the cylinder (8) and having a series of teeth which are distributed circumferentially and which lie parallel to the shaft (9) of the cylinder (8) in different progressive lengths, thus defining a multiplicity of peripheral toothed tracks (P1, P2...) having respectively different lengths of arc according to their position on the height of the cylinder (8), so that the duration of meshing of the said cylinder (8) with the actuator (5) is dependent on the position of the cylinder (8) on its shaft with respect to the actuator.
  2. Control device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the actuator (5) consists of a rack which is mounted so as to be able to move linearly in a direction transverse to the rotation shaft (9) of the cylinder (8) and on which a region adjacent to the toothed area (11) carries the cam (7).
  3. Control device according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the teeth in the meshing area (12) each have a so-called base end (14) arranged on an arc on the edge of one (15) of the transverse faces (15, 16) of the cylinder (8) and a so-called top end (17) which stops along a helical line (18) joining the two transverse faces of the cylinder (8) and winding in a direction of rotation of the cylinder from the base end (14) to the top end (17), so that the longest tooth is situated at the head of the series of teeth.
  4. Control device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the cylinder (8) has two diametrically opposed meshing areas (12).
  5. Control device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the mode selection means (4) include a cam (20) rotated by a control shaft (21) mounted parallel to the shaft (9) of the cylinder (8) and having an active part (22) extending in a helix winding coaxially with the said control shaft (21), whilst the transmitter (10) has the shape of a fork which has a forked end (23) coming into engagement with one (16) of the faces of the cylinder (8) and the other end (24) of which comes to bear on the active part (22) of the cam (20), the said transmitter (10) being mounted so as to slide along a shaft (25) also parallel to the shaft (9) of the cylinder (8).
