The container shown in Figs. 1 to 3 comprises a lower part 1 in the form of a bowl for containing liquid, this part being connected at its center to a straight pillar 2, at the upper extract of which an eyelet 3 is provided to suspend the assembly.
The pillar 2 can be a hollow tube going by expanding or can comprise a series of partitions distributed at regular distances. The connection between the liquid reservoir 1 and the pillar 2 can be made in any suitable way, for example be formed by the ears 2a, or else the two parts can be in one piece.
The side wall of the liquid reservoir 1 is inclined outwards from the bottom and, on its upper edge, it has a horizontal rebate 4 intended to receive a rim. the lower part of the part 6 intended to contain the earth, the side wall of the latter part forming an extension, curved upwards, of the side wall of the lower part 1 containing the liquid.
In the center of the upper part 6 there is a tubular element 1 which is conical and protrudes above the outer upper edge of this part, and which surrounds the pillar @ at a certain distance therefrom. Three chambers 8 intended to contain earth are arranged in a regular manner around the tubular element 7, At the bottom of each chamber 8 is an opening 9 to receive a plug 10 carrying a wick 11. The plug 10 (see Fig. 4) may have the shape of a mushroom pierced right through with two holes 12 in the form of a segment of a circle.
The wick is made of any suitable material capable of absorbing liquid by capillary action and is simply introduced through one of the holes 12 and then passed through the other. The free ends of the wick are immersed in the liquid contained in the lower part 1; the wet wick is firmly

As indicated in broken lines in Figs. 6 and 1, the chambers 8 can also be enlarged by using outwardly directed lips 8a. 71 g 9 is a plan view of a container having these lips. To use a container of the type described above, the chambers 8 81 are filled with soil which is then ground or planted, as the case may be. The liquid reservoir 1 is filled with liquid, ie water or any suitable solution * containing fertilizing particles * The r4oigient is then suspended.
It is therefore sufficient to keep the liquid at the appropriate level. Instead of an upper part 6 having a series / of separate chambers, an upper part with a single notch, - / annular chamber 6a can be used - (see 71 se 10). In -: furthermore, in this case, the chambers 8b of the neck 13 are open at their lower end and the earth fills these chambers and the
