<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Lorsque
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Drive device for feed rolls in machine tools *
The invention relates to a device for not driving feed rolls in machine tools, in particular in presses, stampers, etc.
When, in multi-stage presses, one chooses the succession of operations in such a way that it is only in the last stage that the part is separated from the strip of material, one can dispen - use particular transport devices, which make the part progress from stage to working stage, because this transport
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
is then done by pushing the introduced material strip. However, it is then absolutely necessary for the material to be fed with extreme precision. The invention is therefore based on the principle of excluding for this purpose the play in the drive members, according to principles known per se.
In order to exclude the play between individual parts transmitting a driving movement, it has already been proposed to associate with the last link of the chain formed by these parts a brake, the fixed part of which is subjected to the pressure. 'action of a spring which seeks to return this part to meet the direction of drive of the part on which it is applied. The invention resides in that this principle, known in precision mechanics, is applied to devices for the step-by-step drive of advance cylinders for passing or stamping, in particular, however, to cylindrical cylinders. The feed of which the spacing is variable or which can be mutually spread for the introduction of a web of material.
The invention further resides in that the movements of the part subjected to the action of a spring are limited by stops in both directions of movement.
This is particularly advantageous when the invention is implemented for driving feed rolls the spacing of which is variable. When the invention is implemented, the clearance between the drive members is in fact excluded and in the case of tooth flanks meshing with the tuellemment, the tooth flank of a toothed wheel is applied by therefore against the tooth flank of the other toothed wheel. This is obviously also valid for the two toothed wheels which are fixed on the a @ es of the advancing cylinders and which transmit the driving movement from one cylinder to the other.
The tooth flanks are generally inclined at a determined angle with respect to the radius, for example therefore 20. When
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The distance between the cylinders is modified, the tooth glanes of one wheel slide on the tooth flanks of the other wheel $ or $ the effect of the spring placed at the end of the drive chain, the driven toothed wheel then turns, because of the inclination of the tooth flanks with respect to the radius, by a few degrees of angle. When the cylinder spacing is increased, the driven toothed wheel therefore rotates in one direction and when the cylinder spacing is reduced, this toothed wheel rotates in the other direction.
These rotational movements are absorbed by the spring disposed at the end of the drive chain and which serves to exclude play between the links of the drive chain. The same advantage is obtained when the change in spacing between the two cylinders is relatively large and therefore a pair of bypass gears is provided.
It is then ensured that in the event of modification of the spacing of the cylinders (you advance, for example also during the introduction of a new strip of material, no play appears in the drive of the cylinders of 'advance and that these always have a well-defined starting position and, when they are for example separated from one another and brought back to the same mutual spacing, they come to be placed in exactly the same position of rotation.
To eliminate play in drive members, it is known per se to make a brake act at the end of the chain, drive, so that none of the drive members can accelerate during movement. the air of training. If, however, such a brake is used without the above-mentioned spring, the advantages described above cannot be obtained.
When the brake effect member is not spring-loaded, in the case of a reduction in the spacing between the advance cylinders, the driven wheel would turn well in the direction of the drive against the action brake but in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
no increase in gauge. this toothed wheel and the upper cylinder would however be kept in a rotating hair corresponding to a deeper mesh of the two toothed wheels, so that when the spacing increased the two tooth flanks would no longer come together. apply one against the other and consequently that when starting the drive there would be a clearance between the two cylinders.
Therefore, for use cases where the depth of engagement of the gears is variable, it is essential that the braking member is spring loaded.
In one embodiment of the invention, the brake is implemented as a disc brake and the braking force is adjustable. The non-rotating disc of the friction brake is connected directly to a spring and the movement of the disc is limited by stops, or else this disc is rigidly connected to a moving part, on which acts. in turn the spring and whose mobility is limited by back stops.
Preferably, the movement of the part connected to the spring is limited in both directions because this part has a passage in which a stud engages with play.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the diaprés description, given by way of example. ple nonlimiting and 'with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which;

In the embodiment of the invention shown in the drawing, a toothed wheel 2 is rotatably supported on a shaft 1 and with this toothed wheel meshes a shotgun 3, which is guided to slide in the double direction. arrow 4 and which is driven with a back and forth movement by a drive device not shown, following the sere of this ruble arrow.
On the shaft 1 is fixed a friction coupling, which comprises a part 5 rigidly fixed to the shaft 1. a part 6 rotating with the shaft but guided, however axially sliding and a coupling disc 8 disposed between these parts, this disc being rigidly connected to the toothed wheel 2 by studs 9. The coupling force can be adjusted with the aid of nut 10 against which the Belleville springs 7 are supported which attack at their turn the coupling part 6 which can move axially,
Shaft 1 is directly connected to a feed cylinder 11.
On this shaft is further keyed a toothed wheel 12 which meshes with a toothed wheel 13 on the shaft 14 of which is fixed the upper advancing cylinder 15. Between the advancing cylinders 11 and 15 is placed a band of material which must be advanced by the cylinders.
The shaft 1 is supported by means of a ball bearing 16 in the machine body 17. On the periphery of the shaft 1 there is also a clamping stop, the rollers of which are designated in the drawing by the figure. reference 18. The clamping stop is arranged in such a way that it releases the movement of the shaft 1 in the direction of drive of the advance cylinder 11 but that it nevertheless prevents a rotation of this shaft 1 in the opposite. When the rack 4 returns, the coupling disc 8 connected to the toothed wheel 2 therefore rotates: in relation to the coupling parts 5 and 6, overcoming the force

friction that appears in the coupling.

15. And is supported by a ball bearing 19 in a support arm 20 which is pivotally supported about a stud 21 fixed to the machine body 17. On the shaft 14 is further disposed a friction brake which is presented. a part 22 fixed to the shaft and an axially movable part 23, between which and placed a brake disc 24. The part 23 is pushed back by Belleville springs 25 which rest on an adjusting nut 26, against the brake disc 24 and the piece 22 rigidly connected to the ring 14.
The brake disc 24 is rigidly connected by studs 27 (Figures 2 and 3) to a part 28 movable in a limited manner and which is supported by a needle bearing.
34 on the axis 14. The part 28 has a recess 29 in which engages with play a pin 30 which is fixed to the support arm '20. A pressure spring 31 rests on an adjustable shoulder 32 of the support arm 20 and it exerts a near pressure against a bearing surface 33 of the part 28. The spring 31 seeks to make the part 28 pivot and thus the brake disc 24 which is rigidly connected to it against the direction of drive rotation.
Therefore, a play between the toothed wheels 12 and 13 is excluded.
The part 28 can follow the pressure of the spring 31 until one edge of the recess 29 meets the stud 30. making the step forward, thus during a movement of the drive in the course of time. 'drive, the brake disc 24 is driven by the parts 22 and 23 against the action of the spring 31 until the marginal part of the recess 29, opposite the aforementioned marginal part, meets the stud 30.
When the shaft 14 continues to rotate, the brake disc 24 remains stationary The brake 22, 23, 24 is only adjusted for a low force of
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
braking and it must simply be powerful enough to charge the spring 31 so that the latter, when the depth of engagement of the toothed wheels 12 and 13 is reduced, applies the flank of the tooth of the driven wheel * , driven 13 without play against the flank of the tooth of the toothed wheel 12. At the end of the feed step, the cylinder 15 cannot accelerate and therefore there can also be no play between the toothed wheels. 12 and 13, because the cylinder 11 remains rigidly connected to the drive system at the end of the advance, thanks to the coupling 5, 6, 8.
If, however, the cylinder 11 cannot advance after the completion of the advance step, this is not possible for the cylinder 15 either, because this is put in friction connection with the cylinder 11 by the intermediate of the strip of material. The friction brake 22, 23, 24 therefore simply offers a braking force which is necessary for the charging of the spring 31 and this spring fa @ this is chosen simply strong enough so that, in the event of the cylinder 15 being moved apart , the shaft 14 is caused to rotate in the opposite direction to such an extent that there is no play between the teeth of the toothed wheels 12 and 13 @
