<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"4th gripping device intended to be adapted to thermoplastic bags"
The present invention relates to gripping devices provided on bags intended to contain any goods.
We know that on some paper bags, we usually provide back oarton gripping handles,

which have fixed by aol..rl; o, or (5vontuollolnant, by means of staples. However, such handles cannot be mounted on bags made of thermoplastic material and, in particular, of polyethylene. Indeed, it n 'is not

In addition, they cannot be fixed by stapling either, because the

<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
FIG. 3 shows, in perspective, a bag provided with such a device; Figure 4 is a cross-sectional view of the same bag shown when closed,
The device shown in figs * 1 and 2 consists essentially of two strips or bars 1a and 1b, made of thermoplastic material, for example polyethylene if this device is intended to be fitted on a bag also made of polyethylene.
These two bands have a greater thickness than that of the sheets of polyethylene, or other plastic material, with which the bags are usually made. Thus these bands can have a thickness of 1 mm to 2 millimeters. They are therefore relatively more rigid than the sheets with which the bags are made. Each of these bands carries, in the middle of one of its edges, a gripping handle 2, the whole being manufactured by molding in one piece.
These handles can have any shape * Preferably, their bases 3, which correspond to the points of attachment with the same body of the bands 1a and 1b, are of greater width to increase the strength of the assembly.
The parts thus formed correspond to the soft complementary parts of the device according to the invention.
These two parts include coupling means making it possible to join them together quickly, but in a removable manner.
These coupling means may consist of complementary reliefs provided on one and the other part.
In the example shown, these means consist of studs 4 provided on the first strip 1a, and of holes or acvities 5 provided on the other strip, these holes and cavities being adapted to receive the studs 4 by engagement
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
force Indeed, the pins 4 preferably have a bulge, while the holes 5 have a corresponding profile. At the location of these holes, the strip 1b may include a circular reinforcing rib 6. The force engagement of the triton 4 is made possible by the relative flexibility of the. plastic material of which the two bands 1a and 1b are made.
Advantageously, the studs 4 are hollow (see FIG. 4), which further increases their elasticity. Thus the nipples 4 constitute in a way press studs allowing rapid uno aolidanisation of the two bands 1a and 1b against each other *
According to an important feature, these securing means are provided at the location of the bases 3 of the handles 2 (see figs 1 and 2). This particular position of these means ensures better securing of the two parts 1a and 1b during the use of the bag on which they are attached as indicated below.
The two parts of the device are in fact intended to be fixed to the two edges 7a and 7b of the opening of a Bachot 7 made of thermoplastic material. This fixing can be achieved very easily by thermal welding of each of these edges on the corresponding strip 1a or 1b. By construction, these two bands have a length which corresponds to the width of the bag itself. Thus they constitute back reinforcement bands edges of this bag and, because of their greater thickness than the walls thereof, they provide a certain stiffening of these borders.

In this regard, it should be noted that, even if the bag contains relatively heavy objects and is held in the hand by means of the handle formed by the

When the two handles 2 are thus joined one against the other, they then constitute a single gripping handle making it possible to very easily transport the bag provided with this device.
