Exemple 1 Préparation de 12 a-bromo-3 Ó-hydroxyprégnane-11,20-dione
50 g de 3 a -acétoxy-12 a-bromoprégnane-11,20-dione, 5el8 litres de méthanol et 51,8 ml de HCL concentré sont agités pendant 20 heures, à environ 20 C La réaction a été arrêtée en ajoutant une solution de 27,6 g. de bicarbo- nate de sodium dans 690 ml d'eau en agitant. Le produit à savoir la 12 a-bromo- 3 a-hydroxyprégnane-11,20-dione, a été isolé en chassant le méthanol sous vide, en ajoutant 1 litre d'eau et en filtrant; P.F.: 157-159 C; rendement: 44.9 g.

Préparation de 12 Ó-bromo-3,11,20-prégnanetrione 39,78 g de 12 Ó-bromo-3Ó-hydroxyprégnane-11,20-dione ont.'été dissous dans 971 ml. de méthanol et 9,71 ml de pyridine sèche ont été ajoutés.Le flacon a été recouvert d'un tissu noir et son contenu a été continuellement agité à environ 20 C. Une solution de 39,98 g. de 12 a-bromo-3,11,20-prégnane-trione de 1,075 g. d'acide p-toluènesulfonique monohydraté de 24,6 ml. d'éthylène glycol fraîchement distillé et de 924 ml. de benzène, préalablement séché sur du sodium, a été distillée lentement dans une colonne Vigreux pendant 5 heures, en main- tenant le volume constant par addition de benzène sec. Le mélange réactionnel a été extrait à deux reprises avec une solution à 5% de bicarbonate de sodium et lavé avec de l'eau (une fois).

Après sèchage par du sulfate de sodium anhydre pendant environ 16 heures et fil- tration, le filtrat a été concentré sous vide.
