la fig. 1 montre, en coupe longitudinale, une réalisation destinée à un appareil à poser les chevilles;
les fig. 2 et 3 représentent, à plus grande échelle, deux autres formes de réalisation, également pour appareils à poser des chevilles;
<EMI ID=2.1>

<EMI ID=3.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>
Cartridges hitherto used for handguns,
and other shooting devices, generally have metal cases. However, sockets made of deformable material, in particular, of thermoplastic resin, have already been proposed, for devices for fitting dowels. In the corresponding embodiments, however, a component part of the base, customary with metal bushings, was used as the support for the starting composition.
and who carries the primer. The usual hunting cartridges are analogous and have a component part of the bottom of the casing, molded by a complicated process, in the form of a pellet, and in the center of which the primer is housed, while the body of the cartridge. the socket is made of cardboard.
This metal primer holder, used absolutely generally on cartridges, and the primer itself, considerably increase the price.
of the manufacture of cartridges and we can even say that they determine it. In particular, the primer is complicated because not only does it have to receive the initiating composition inside it, but it must form, on its front face, a bearing surface for this initiating composition, so that the latter cannot not escape when the striker hits the rear face of the primer and surely catches fire. This support piece may, it is true, be slightly simplified in so-called eccentric percussion cartridges, which however requires a corresponding eccentric arrangement of the firing pin in the weapon, and this represents a complication which is not universally applicable.
The present invention eliminates the aforementioned drawbacks, and has for object a cartridge, particularly intended for apparatus for placing dowels, which provides a considerable simplification, a lowering of the manufacturing price, and makes possible the automation of this manufacturing. According to the invention, the cartridge is remarkable in that it has a closed bottom, on the lower face of which is inserted, at least in part, the initiating composition, the front surface of which is in contact with a surface of. support located inside the socket.
In the accompanying drawing, a few embodiments of the object of the invention have been shown. In this drawing:
fig. 1 shows, in longitudinal section, an embodiment intended for a device for placing the ankles;
figs. 2 and 3 show, on a larger scale, two other embodiments, also for devices for placing dowels;
fig. 4 shows in the same way an embodiment of a hunting cartridge and,
fig. 5 shows, still in longitudinal section, another variant for devices for placing dowels.
In fig. 1 shows a shooting device known per se and of which only the parts which cooperate directly with the cartridge have been shown, the other parts possibly being of any known shape. The firing device has a barrel 1 behind which there is a loading chamber 2 which widens out conically towards the rear. This is mounted in a sleeve 3, the rear end of which has a central thread into which is screwed a closure part 4 having a corresponding thread. This last part is traversed by a central hole 5 in which the striker 6 is guided. The rear end of the striker 6 protrudes out of the closing part 4 and cooperates for percussion with a hammer not shown actuated by a spring. percussion.
When the machine is ready to fire, as shown in fig. 1, an ankle 7, of the usual type, is located in the axis of the rear part of the barrel 8. It carries at its rear end a cap in the form of a buffer 9 made of deformable material, for example thermoplastic resin. The pad 9 has a cylindrical guide surface on the outside, with a diameter corresponding to <EMI ID = 1.1>
The buffer 9 closes the front of the sleeve 11 of a cartridge 12 which is housed in the loading chamber 2, this sleeve externally having a conical shape corresponding to that of the chamber.
Cartridge 12 has a closed bottom 13 and has an interior cavity
<EMI ID = 2.1>
9 on the other hand, is completely filled by the powder charge which is compressed
<EMI ID = 3.1>
adhesion to the cartridge, in the position where it was pressed. It may optionally be prevented, by simple additional means, from moving axially with respect to the wall of the sleeve, for example, by partial welding or other similar means.
When the blow starts, the gas pressure generated by the combustion of the powder charge, first of all produces an enlargement of the cartridge and a narrow application of its wall against the side wall of the loading chamber, which ensures a gas-tight seal at the rear of the barrel 8. Then when the gas pressure in the loading chamber reaches a predetermined value, there is an expulsion of the ankle, integral with the plug 9 'and, possibly, of the front parts of the wall of the sleeve, in the event that the sleeve is partially torn and the buffer
9 would not be the only one to be kicked out of the cartridge. In all cases, the relatively high gas pressure behind the buffer 9 generates a settlement
of the plug made of a deformable material, compacting producing its close application, on all sides, against the wall of the barrel 8 so that no loss of gas can occur and that it is possible to operate with a reduced powder charge at minimum.
The cartridge embodiment shown in FIG. 2 differs from that shown in FIG. 1 in that the bearing surface for the initiating composition 15 is constituted by a pellet 16, attached to the inside of the sleeve 11, a pellet which rubs laterally against the inner face of the wall of the cartridge and adheres thus by friction to this wall. The pellet is crossed by lights 17 for the passage of the flame when
<EMI ID = 4.1>
suitable rigid material, for example metal or plastic. The powder charge can be compressed in the interior cavity of the cartridge 14 in the same way as before and the powder chamber is also closed towards the front by the adherent pad 9. The plug and the powder charge reinforce the anchoring of the powder. pellet 16 in the socket.
The embodiment according to fig -3 differs from that of FIG. 1 in that the pad 9 carries at the rear a central projection 18 which passes through the entire powder charge and which constitutes the bearing surface for the initiating composition 15 'The pad 9 must also adhere to the wall of the socket so that the protrusion 18 is securely held in its position immediately adjacent to the initiating composition 15.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 4 comprises a base 19 having the usual external shape of the bases of hunting cartridges, with an externally cylindrical wall 20. The sleeve again has a solid bottom and is made in one piece of deformable material, for example a thermoplastic material. The inner face of the back has a central recess
<EMI ID = 5.1>
intermediate piece.16 which constitutes the bearing surface for the starting composition 15. In order to perfectly center and anchor the intermediate piece 16, the bottom of the sleeve has been provided internally with a hollow central boss 21 in which the intermediate piece 16 is force-fitted over the greater part of its length. This intermediate part 16 again has openings 17 for the passage of the ignition flame of the initiator composition to the powder charge 22 which fills the rear part of the socket. The front part of this contains the lead, as is usual.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 5 differs from that of FIG. 3 in that the bottom, always full, has its central part constituted by an insert 25 fitted into a housing provided at the rear part of the socket. This added part of the bottom can hold onto the rest of the cartridge simply by friction adhesion or else by any other means, for example by partial welding.
With all the embodiments shown, it is easy to ensure the automation of the manufacture of the cartridges without any difficulty, by first making the sleeve of plastic material, for example by compression molding, then by pressing down the cartridge. initiating composition, which is optionally followed by the establishment of the bearing surface, -after which, the powder charge is poured and it is optionally compressed by pressing at the same time the buffer which puts it at the compressed state, buffer which can constitute the cap of an ankle in the case where the cartridge is intended for an apparatus for placing the ankles. It is of course possible to mount a projectile other than a pin in a similar manner.
