<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to a method for bonding two bonding elements together.
In the various manual bonding processes) Inapplication of! glue is generally done by means of an applicator member (brush, pad, etc.) and from a container containing the glue (bottle, tube, etc.).
These methods all have marked drawbacks. Among these is the drying of the glue both on the applicator member and in the glue container, resulting in loss and waste of glue.
On the other hand, these known methods require a certain number of manipulations, namely: application of the glue to the applicator member, in a quantity neither too large nor too small, transport of this member to the parts to be glued, application glue on these parts, joining the parts and pressing. Among other drawbacks which accompany these operations, there may be mentioned the dripping of the glue on the work surface, the imprecision of the dosage of the quantity of glue which can lead to poor sticking if the quantity is insufficient, or a burr of the glue if the quantity is too great, which requires an additional operation of removing the excess quantity of glue.
Finally, one can also cite as a drawback the fact that the operator's fingers inevitably end up getting stuck with glue and that they risk thus reducing, by their contact, the quality of the external surfaces of the parts. to be glued, such as for example a fine leather surface of a lady's shoe.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by producing a fast, efficient and clean bonding process and a constant dosage of the quantity of adhesive to be used.
According to one characteristic of the present invention, a closed capsule containing the adhesive is placed between the two parts to be bonded and the parts are brought together by crushing said capsule between them so that the latter delivers the adhesive in contact with the parts. surfaces to be joined.
The advantages of such a process are immediately realized. The quantity of adhesive remains constant in all the gluing operations for the same series of parts because it is possible to use uniform capsules containing the same quantity of glue. In addition, the operator's fingers do not come into contact with the adhesive and the number of operations is reduced to two, namely: placing the capsule and pressing.
According to another characteristic of the present invention, the capsule is advantageously fixed to one of the parts to be glued.
According to yet another characteristic of the present invention, a face belonging to one of the parts to be bonded is advantageously formed into a capsule.
These last two embodiments do away with one more operation, namely that of placing the capsule.
According to another characteristic of the present invention and in its application to the bonding of two parts, one of which engages in a hollow part formed in the other, the capsule is placed in said hollow part, the other part is engaged. and we press.
According to a particular feature of the present invention, the hollow part is a shoe heel protector, the other part being constituted by the heel itself.
The particularly advantageous nature of this application can be emphasized here. In fact, the heel protector is fastened with the speed and efficiency mentioned above; the more soiling of the leather of the heel is avoided, which is particularly advantageous for the fine leather of ladies' shoes. Finally the operation can be carried out by a staff
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
having no particular qualification in this field or by a person who does this only occasionally, for example, a saleswoman in a shoe store.
The present invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method described below.
, Following a characteristic of the present invention, a closed capsule containing the adhesive is used, this capsule being made of a material and having a sufficient thickness to withstand the stresses it undergoes in current handling but which breaks under the effect of a pressure exceeding a determined value.
According to another characteristic of the present invention, the envelope of the capsule is advantageously of a nature such that the crushing produces very fine particles suitable for being distributed in the adhesive without hindering the application of the parts to be glued. .
According to a feature of the present invention in its application to the bonding of a heel protector to the end of a heel, the amount of adhesive contained in the capsule is suitable for spreading only in the end of a heel. interval remaining between the base of the heel and the bottom of the heel protector when the latter is in its final position.
This feature ensures that the adhesive does not run up the leather of the heel. This is especially the case when a non-specially qualified person applies a heel protector that is too large for the heel in question, leaving a space between the inner side walls of the heel protector and the heel itself. , space in which the excess adhesive could enter.
According to yet other features of the present invention, the capsule is of spherical or elongated shape.
Other features and details of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of the accompanying drawings which schematically and by way of example show an illustrative embodiment of the present invention.
In these drawings: - Figure 1 shows., In perspective a heel protector to be glued on a heel of a lady's shoe; and -? Figure 2 shows in section the device of Figure 1 with the heel and the adhesive capsule.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, we can see there a heel protector made of a synthetic plastic material to be fitted on a heel 3.
In the bottom of the heel protector there is a spherical capsule 2 made of a breakable material and containing an adhesive suitable for. gluing of leather.
This capsule is made of a material such that when it breaks by crushing it splits into fine particles.
Else; apart from the amount of adhesive contained therein is dosed so that this adhesive covers the entire surface of the base of the heel and the bottom of the heel protector,
The use of the capsule and the procedure are therefore very simple.
The capsule 2 is placed in the bottom of the heel protector 1, as shown in FIG. 2, the heel is engaged in the heel protector, we press with the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
heel on the capsule and thus causes rupture of the capsule.
The fine particles resulting from the rupture of the capsule disperse immediately in the adhesive and in no way interfere with its tackiness.
Due to the dosage of the amount of adhesive, the latter remains between the base of the heel and the bottom of the heel protector and will not rise between them, which would have the effect of reducing the aesthetic character of the shoe.
A gluing device is thus produced which is at the same time fast, efficient, clean and economical and does not require any particular skill on the part of the operator.
It is evident that the present invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiment described above by way of example and that various modifications may be made in the arrangement, constitution and arrangement of the material. certain details involved in its realization, provided that these modifications do not contradict the object of each of the following claims.
Thus, the device and method of the present invention can be used with many other sets of parts to be bonded. On the other hand, it is quite obvious that the spherical shape of the capsule is not essential and that this shape will be adapted to the particular case which is envisaged.
On the other hand, it is also possible to prepare one of the parts to be glued with the capsule stuck on it, so that there is no longer any need to bring the two parts together and to press.
One face of one of the parts to be bonded can also be formed into a capsule in order to avoid, moreover, a prior fixing of the capsule to the part.
