<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
Ce n'est donc qu'à simple titre indicatif, sans aucune limitation généralement quelconque, que quelques réalisations sont décrites ci-après en se référant aux dessins annexés dans lesquels: la figure 1 représente en vue perspective les éléments constitutifs d'une doublure de cercueil.ou cercueil intérieur; les figures 2, 3 et 4 représentent en coupe transversale des variantes d'exécution de la disposition de la figure 1; la figure 5 représente, en vue perspective explosée, les différentes parties constitutives d'un cercueil traditionnel avec doublure ou cercueil intérieur selon l'invention; les figures 6, 7 et 8 représentent, en coupe transversale', des variantes d'exécution de la figure 5; la figure 9 représente, en vue perspective, un cercueil selon l'Invention;
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
REVENDICATIONS.

We know that, traditionally, coffins are made of wood with, inside, one or more metal linings. Commonly, the inner liner is made in. zinc and the coffin is executed in two essential parts: the coffin itself and the cover. This traditional technique has the essential drawback that the manufacture of coffins has remained an artisanal manufacture and said technique has, until now, benefited practically no benefit from modern techniques and more especially from the manufacture. industrial and mechanical.
The present invention truly applies a revolutionary concept in this field, so that it is possible systematically and almost at one stroke to eliminate practically all the disadvantages of traditional manufacture.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A first object of the invention consists in making the lining (s) of the traditional coffin in a molding material, preferably a thermoplastic material of the type most easily heat-weldable, such as, for example, polyesters, chlorides. polyvinyl and others.
Another object of the invention is to produce such linings in a transparent synthetic material, so as to keep the skin visible, while being effectively protected and while systematically protecting the surrounding atmosphere,. which, in many cases of accidents, epidemics, contagious diseases or other circumstances, undoubtedly presents, over current means, transcendent advantages.
Another object of the invention relates to the production of such linings of coffins in synthetic material, opaque or transparent, consisting substantially of a receptacle and a cover or closing part, these two constituent parts being hermetically secured by a pressure and pressure effect. heat easily applicable by the intervention of a simple tool which can be conditioned for this work, said tool being able to be heated by electric resistances directly pluggable on the sector.
Yet another object of the invention relates to the production of such plastic molding linings for a container whose walls, while being relatively thin, are made relatively rigid, respectively relatively resistant to bending by a molding, respectively an adequate ribbing, this resistance having to be sufficient to allow the displacement of said envelope without dangerous deformations under the weight of an undercut placed in said lining.
Another object of the invention also relates to the profila-
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
adequate ge of the juxtaposed edges of the receptacle itself and of the cover so as to achieve a sufficient contact surface 'to promote the application of the effect of pressure' and of heat, by means, respectively a simple tool, said contact surfaces which can be flat, curved or with baffles.
Another object of the invention also relates to the possible arrangement, between the receptacle proper and its cover, of a seal made of a putrescible or soluble material, or decomposable, so as to possibly overcome the relative inalterability. plastic material and thus allow the natural process of dispersion as practiced by traditional coffins.
Another object of the invention relates to the manufacture of the outer coffin or actual coffin in a molding material or plastic material, said coffin consisted of the two usual parts, respectively the receptacle and the cover, but these two constituent parts being able, as for the liner, be mutually secured by any suitable means such as solvent, special glue or, preferably, by heat-sealing.
Another object of the invention relates to the important modifications which can be introduced in the shape, respectively the packaging of the coffin, it being well known that, while the overall dimensions are determined by the draft, the traditional shape is determined by general criteria for woodworking, new forms being able to introduce new advantages both technically and economically.
Another, still object of the invention relates to the production of such coffins in a molding material, in which the coffin are made, in a single piece and under the benefit of mechanical factory work, at the same time, the clean receptacle
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In other words, the handles or gripping elements, all generally useful accessories and / or any plastic reproduction relating either to the deceased, or to his religion, or to any other invocation; the same new technical characteristics can be found in the cover; in this case, the handles or the gripping elements can be, in accordance with the invention, produced by the adequate conformation of the welding edges between the receptacle and the cover.
Another object of the invention also relates to the possibility of producing a receptacle in opaque material and a transparent cover over its entire length or over a part thereof, this arrangement not presenting any technical difficulty, which does not involve any technical difficulty. is not the case in the traditional manufacture of coffers.
Another object of the invention relates to the manufacture of coffins, respectively of the receptacle 'and, of the cover thereof, of synthetic materials which are treated so as to perfectly imitate traditional coffins; the plastics are treated so as to present a metallic appearance or else the coffins are cast, molded or injected or produced in any known manner using synthetic molding material, said receptacles and covers. , on all or on some of the visible surfaces, in hollow and / or in relief, all texts and / or all patterns capable of giving the coffin a. brand new appearance.
Another transcendent object of the invention is, because of the new technique thus revealed, the production of folding coffins, which makes it possible to manufacture them industrially in large quantities and to store them in a minimum space requirement; moreover, in particular the transport of folding coffins thus conditioned is not only more economical but much
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
less noticeable and less depressing, especially in cases of / armed conflict, serious epidemics or in any circumstance where large quantities of coffins have to be moved.
The invention aimed, because of its surprising nature, at the application per se of molding materials, respectively of so-called plastic materials in the manufacture of coffins and double coffins, it extends to all applications and generally any realizations, simple or complex, all luxurious or common in all shapes / colors, all combinations of colors and dimensions of any coffin or part of a coffin generally any, the coffin being made in one or more parts.
It is therefore only indicative, without any limitation generally whatsoever, that some embodiments are described below with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective view the components of a lining coffin. or inner coffin; Figures 2, 3 and 4 show in cross section alternative embodiments of the arrangement of Figure 1; FIG. 5 represents, in an exploded perspective view, the various constituent parts of a traditional coffin with inner lining or coffin according to the invention; FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 represent, in cross section ', variant embodiments of FIG. 5; FIG. 9 represents, in perspective view, a coffin according to the invention;
Figures 10 and 11 show in cross section two variant embodiments of Figure 9; Figures 12 and 13 show, on an enlarged scale, the junction between the coffin itself and its cover; @ Figure 14 shows, in exploded perspective view, the various constituent parts of a folding coffin; Figure 15 shows the coffin in the folded position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
As shown schematically in Figures 1 and 2, an inner coffin or liner is made of a plastic material in the form of a receptacle or coffin itself 1 and a cover 2. Preferably, the coffin itself 1 will be de- limited. by a rim of a certain width forming a seat for the cover 2. According to the invention, said cover 2 will be secured to the actual coffin 1 by gluing, by a solvent or, preferably, by heat-welding. It will suffice to exert, at the same time, but in the opposite direction, on said rim 3 of the coffin 1 and the juxtaposed part of the cover 2, a pressure force together with a rise in temperature.
This heat-sealing could easily be done using a simple tool formed of a kind of electric heating clamp that it will suffice to move along the juxtaposed edges, respectively of the coffin 1 and of the cover 2.
Both the coffin and the cover may have variant shapes, in particular with a view to increasing their rigidity, respectively the bending resistance, by means of the thickness of the dobby used. In Figures 3 and 4 are shown different resistance ribs 4, which are obviously infinitely variable in shape, number and relative position. Likewise, the cover may have very different shapes. Examples are shown diagrammatically without any restriction in Figures 1 to 4.
Such inner coffins or liners could, in certain cases, due to the absolute hermeticity and chemical neutrality of the material employed, according to the essential characteristic of the invention, be used as such as actual coffins, in particular for reasons of economy, or even in the event of massive use, in particular during epidemics, a state of war or other similar circumstances.
In Figures 5 to 8, the application of the-
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
so-called inner coffins or linings in cooperation with a coffin produced by traditional means. However, said traditional coffin and its cover will be packaged so as to be able to rationally house said inner coffin and its cover.
In FIG. 5, there is shown a coffin of the traditional type 5 with its cover 6 and, between these, an internal coffin 1 and its cover 2. As shown in cross section in FIG. 6, the external coffin has two pans 7-8 in which the rim of the liner 1 and the corresponding part of its cover 2 are housed. In FIGS. 7 and 8, two variants have been shown in cross section in which said pan is replaced by the juxtaposition of two pans, 8-9, respectively of the coffin 1 and its cover 6. Such inner coffins or linings very advantageously replace the metal coffins made of zinc, or lead, generally used.
In fact, interior plastic coffins are appreciably lighter and present much more convenience to be handled and closed.
It is also possible, according to the invention, to immediately produce a coffin proper with or without a liner, of plastic. In fact, the very nature of synthetic resins is such that it is possible, at the same time, to provide the coffin with good mechanical strength and total impermeability. In this, the present invention achieves, over the traditional technique, a considerable advance.
Such a coffin made of plastic material is shown in perspective view in FIG. 9. Both the coffin itself 10 and its cover 11 can be made in simple or complex and even very artistic shapes, in one or more parts. The very nature of the plastic makes it possible to adopt completely new shapes and it is also possible to ornamental walls of the coffin and the cover, recessed
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
or in relief, any decorative patterns, texts or other, the whole being capable of being executed mechanically, which introduces, ipso facto, all the advantages of an industrial execution.
The plastic material can obviously be given any generally desired appearance, said plastic material being able either to appear as such or to imitate wood, metal or any other suitable material. The hollow or raised patterns could be mono-or polychrome, so that, by application of the present invention, the very presentation of the coffins is completely modified. If desired, the cover can be made of a plastic material similar or different from that of which the coffin is made; said cover may, moreover, be transparent over all or part of its surface.
The connection between the actual coffin 10 and its cover 11 can be done as explained above for the connection between the inner coffin 1 and its cover 2. For this purpose, the outer coffin 10 can also have a peripheral rim. 12 and, as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, said joining can be done by heat-welding.
In: Figure 11, there is shown, on an enlarged scale, a cross section of which the contact surface between the rim 12 of the coffin 10 and the rim 13 of the cover 11 forms the heat-sealing surface. This surface may be flat or be profiled as shown in dotted lines in said FIG. 12. Possibly, as shown diagrammatically in FIG. 13, between the rim 12 of the coffin 10 and the rim 13 of the cover 11, a seal 14 in any suitable material. If the closure is to be hermetic and the direct connection between the flanges 12 and 13 is made difficult for some reason, said seal 14 may constitute a more effective connecting element between the juxtaposed parts of the coffin and its. lid.
If, under certain circumstances, the resistance of.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
the plastic material used for the execution of the coffin and its cover was considered too large, preventing in particular the dissolving and neutralizing action of the principles contained in the soil, said seal could be made of a relati-, vein putrescible or soluble or decomposable, in such a way that the total hermeticity of the coffin is destroyed after a more or less predetermined time.
To this end, it should also be noted that it will always be possible to introduce, into the composition of the plastics used for the making of said coffins and lids, plasticizers, catalysts and / or fillers capable of appropriating very exactly the material. coffin and its cover to the behavior that one wishes to obtain in the ground, respectively in a vault or in any other place or particular circumstance.
Finally, the invention also makes it possible to achieve completely new conditions which are systematically excluded in the application of the traditional technique. Indeed, because of the plastics used, it is possible to produce collapsible or collapsible coffins so as to temporarily reduce their size to the strict minimum. This completely new feature is excessively important for storage and transport, especially of large quantities. Also, on the psychnological level, this new quality presents an importance which can sometimes be extraordinary. A. For this purpose, the coffin can be made in such a way that all or some of its parts are relatively flexible, foldable or articulated.
We know that it is perfectly possible, from a plastic material of the same nature, to achieve extremely variable physico-mechanical qualities. It will therefore be possible to produce coffins whose walls are rigid but certain parts or edges of which are flexible so as to be able to form bellows species. The coffin thus folded can easily
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
be deployed and, in this deployed position, it can be stiffened by ad hoc elements. Such collapsible coffins can be made in practically infinite forms. Such an execution is, by way of example, shown diagrammatically in FIGS. 14 and 15.
In this embodiment, the coffin has two longitudinal side walls 15-16 rigid or made rigid by ribs 17; the bottom 18 and the end faces 19-20 are flexible or foldable so as to be able to form a bellows as shown in Figure 15. In its deployed form shown in Figure 14, the coffin itself can be returned perfectly stable by a radiant element 21 made of a resistant material, for example metal or a plastic. This stiffener can be constituted by a lattice element or even by a ribbed wall; the coffin is completed by a cover 22.
The stiffening element and the cover could be partially introduced or superimposed on the coffin itself folded down, so that the whole is presented in an unexpected form and in a strictly reduced size.
The invention, as generally as possible, extends to all generally any embodiments of coffins or parts of coffins made of a plastic material or a molding material, in all shapes and sizes and of any appearance generally whatever. .
. In the end, we can plan and adopt, apart from this new technique, traditional means and accessories, e. at. the adoption of a valve, housings for candles, holy water and all liturgical or other accessories.
