<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to a vacuum pump producing, under excellent conditions, the feeding by nipple of a baby's milk bottle.
The pump in question is essentially constituted by a deep truncated conical cup internally comprising a rubber diaphragm, with peripheral fixing and centering by long stroke commando axial rod line springs, transmitting , via a flexible pipe opening into the top of a nipple under the cap of a bottle, a depression effect in the latter, alternated with a backflow time facilitating by a slight pressure of the breast , the output of milk.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of non-restrictive indication, a practical embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the vacuum pump in its rest position.
Fig. 2 is a side view of the commando rod side pump, along A A of FIG. 1.

Fig. 4 shows the arrangement of a nipple connected to the pump and mounted on a partially narrow necked bottle shown.
As shown in Figs. l 'to 4, the vacuum pump consists of a tapered bowl 1 made of stainless metal, the bottom of which has a hooking ring 2, as well as a pipe 3 for vacuum intake.
The cup 1 is surmounted by a base 4 with a peripheral rim 5, on which a metal washer 6, fixed by screws 7, retains by its collar 8 a frustoconical membrane 9, made of rubber or other flexible material, conforming to the shape. of the inner wall of the bowl 1.
The membrane 9 is clamped in its center between two metal discs 10, 11 by a nut 12 screwed at the end; threaded with a control rod 13, terminated by a ring 14. hook, surmounting a collar 15.
Springs 16, three in number or in any other quantity, are engaged by their ends in holes in the collar 15 and in the ears 17 of the rim 5 of the base of the bowl 1.
The tensile force exerted by the springs 16 on the collar 15 of the rod 13 has the effect of returning the membrane 9 against the internal wall of the bowl 1, in the position of FIG. 1.
The tubing 3 of the bowl 1 is connected by a flexible and resistant pipe 18 to an end piece 19 of a nipple 20, comprising an internal duct 21 opening out through a lateral orifice 22 of a suction tube 23 engaged in an orifice of the bottle cap -24 25.
In accordance with the. Fig 4, the lateral orifice 22 of the suction tube 23 is located near the internal end of the stopper 24, at the upper part of the biboron 25, the neck of which may be of small size.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The operation of the pump is obtained either by hand or at the foot by a pedal, after having previously fixed by chains, or in any other way, the rings 2 and 14 at any two fixed points. The return of the commando rod 13 to the position of FIG. 3 determines the spacing of la'membrane 9 from the wall of the bowl 1 by forming a voluminous suction chamber 26 causing a vacuum in the bottle 25, through the side opening 22 of the nipple 20.
When the rod 13 returns, the chamber 26 is completely reabsorbed following the application of the membrane 9 against the wall of the bowl 1 and causes a discharge of air, which slightly presses the breast before the next suction, in thus facilitating the outflow of milk and its flow into the bottle 25.
This breast pump is practical and foolproof. It is also very hygienic, because the sterilization of its organs is carried out completely with ease.
It will be understood that the apparatus described can undergo in its constructive details any modifications useful to the realization of the invention.
