<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
l tair soufflé s'échauffe au contact direct de la flaire d'un brû- leur agencé dans un tunnel', de façon à obtenir -un echamffement maximum de cet air. - Ce brûleur,lequel peut être alimenté en tous -gaz .combustibles tels que gaz de ville, gaz 9-6 four, méthane, gaz de pétrole liquéfié, etc affecte;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

the present invention relates to a hot air generator of high efficiency and operational safety, which is designed so that it can be easily moved for the purpose of its use for heating premises, sheds, or drying walls , soil or materials possibly in piles, such as sand, gravel, etc: ... or for any other application.
Known hot air generators are made in the form of heat exchangers comprising tubes in which a heating fluid circulates and in contact with which the blown air is heated,
With respect to these known devices, the generator according to the invention is characterized, in main order, by the fact that
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The blown air heats up in direct contact with the scent of a burner arranged in a tunnel, so as to obtain a maximum echamffement of this air. - This burner, which can be supplied with all fuel gas such as town gas, gas 9-6 furnace, methane, liquefied petroleum gas, etc. affects;
preferably an annular form of liquefied petroleum, etc., preferably has an annular form of the air being blown through the center and around said burner.
According to the invention, the generator which is the subject of it is provided with means suitable for ensuring its perfect operating safety and in particular the automatic interruption of any gas flow in the event of accidental extinction of the pilot flame. , or interruption of the current supplying the electric motor actuating the blower, this generator furthermore being equipped with means making it possible to orient at will the jet of hot air produced by the generator.
These various characteristics of the generator 'according to the invention will emerge better from the following description of an embodiment of the object of the invention, given with reference to the appended schematic drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a partial longitudinal sectional view of the. hot air generator according to the invention.
FIG. 2 is an exterior view of the box containing this generator.
Figures 3 and 4 respectively show different inclinations which can be given to this generator.
Figure 5 shows a modified embodiment of the generator outlet tubing shown in Figure 1.
As shown in Figure 1, the generator according to the invention is enclosed in a box 1, provided with a pair & wheels 2 and supported, in a horizontal position, by a foot 3.
The generator itself is constituted by a burner 4,. advantageously of annular shape, arranged in a tunnel 5, cu galvanized sheet, preferably of cylindrign shape integral with the box
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The burner 4 can be lined internally with a flame stabilizer 6, preventing the separation of the latter. Behind the - burner 4, and in the axis thereof, is arranged - a fan 7 driven by an electric motor 8 supported in any suitable manner.
In the bottom of the box is fixed a valve 9 into which opens a gas inlet pipe 10. This valve internally comprises an electromagnetic valve (not shown) controlling a duct 11 opening into the luxury nozzle 12 for supplying the burner 4. the valve 9 also has a bypass duct 13 opening into a nozzle 14 which itself opens into tunnel 5, in front of burner 4.
On the nozzle 14 and in front of the outlet of the duct 13, is mounted an ignition plug 15 intended to produce a spark under the action of a magnetic igniter 16 with manual control and to which this spark plug is connected by the driver.
17.
Towards the outlet end of the nozzle 14 is arranged a "thermo-torque" device 18 'electrically connected to the electromagnetic valve of the valve 9, by a conductor 19 in which is interposed a bimetal contactor 20 whose role will be discussed later.
The operation of the generator described above and illustrated is as follows:
The gas being admitted to the valve 9, part of it escapes through the bypass duct 13 to access the nozzle 14. By operating the magnetic igniter 16, a spark is produced at the spark plug 15 which ignites the gas escaping from the conduit 13 thus giving rise to a flame-'Veilleuse 21.
The motor actuating the fan 7 is then switched on by means of a switch placed outside the box.
Under the effect of the heat generated by the pilot flame
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
21 the thermocouple 18 heats up and acts through the intermediary of the bimetal contactor 20 and the conductor 19, on the electromagnetic valve, arranged in the valve 9, which it opens to allow access of the main gas burner 4 which is then ignited by pilot flame 21.
This starting of the generator being accomplished, the air blown by the fan 7 and heated in direct contact with the flames .du burner 4, escapes through the outlet pipe 22.
If for any reason the gas supply to valve 9 is interrupted, the result is an extinction not only of the burner but also of the pilot flame 21. Consequently, the cooling of the thermo-couple rapidly results in the closing of the burner. electromagnetic valve controlling the admission of gas to the burner. This therefore constitutes protection against an escape of unburned gas from the burner 4 in the event of even a momentary interruption of the gas supply.
It should also be noted; that the bimetal contactor 20 is placed above an opening 23 made in the wall of the tunnel 5.during normal operation of the generator, this bimetallic strip is not influenced by the heat of the hot air jet and therefore maintains the contact between the thermo-torque and the valve of the valve 9. If the electric current supplying the motor S of the fan is accidentally interrupted during the operation of the generator, the flames of the burner 4 ceasing to be driven by the current of air, parallel to the axis of the tunnel, will move upwards and will come to lick the bimetallic strip 20.
Under the effect of the rapid rise in temperature which will ensue, the contact blade 20a of this balance sheet will be deflected into its position shown in dotted lines, thus interrupting the electrical connection between thermo-torque 18 and the electro-valve. magnetic valve 9, which valve will close immediately under the action of its return spring, with extinction

simultaneous burner flame,
As shown in Figures 3 and 4 the box 1 is provided with a.
system of crutches 24 and 25, articulated to each other as well as to the base of the box, the free end of the stand 24 being able to engage various notches presented by this base of the box to give it the different inclinations shown by these figures.
Figures 2 to 4 also show that the outlet pipe 22, which will advantageously be made of fiberglass and bent at 45, can be engaged in friction on an annular connector 26 integral with the box 1, so as to be able to give this pipe output any desirable angular position on 360. This outlet pipe can also receive a cap from which will extend a flexible hose of large diameter, to direct the hot air to any desired location.
As shown in Figure 5, the tubing 22 may have several outlets such as 22a and 22b on which a cap with flexible pipe may engage.
It emerges from the foregoing description as well as from the arrangement shown by the drawings, that the invention provides a high efficiency generator because the: - fan 7 actuated by the motor 8, preferably at single speed, brews a large quantity of air which is forced to pass through tunnel 5 in the center and around burner 4, with the flame catching over its entire length, and that this generator also offers all the guarantees of safety in the event of an interruption in the gas supply or in the event of. interruption of the electric current supplying the fan motor.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
Finally, it should be noted that the large excess of air with which the generator according to the invention operates ensures perfect combustion of the gas and remarkable retention of the flame despite a gas flow rate which may vary in proportions from 1 to 10 ,. with a constant air flow.
As a result, the combustion gases are, on analysis, completely free of CO and only contain a maximum of 0.5% CO 2.
