Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   The present invention relates to a dressing or wrapping article, in particular periodical tape. It is known to make this article by providing a certain quantity of paper with one or more strips of a textile product, either in the form of an embossed reinforcement or in that of a tubular sheath having the thickness. appearance of a sheath or an envelope. The textile product is used only for the reinforcement and fixing of the paper and has so far been executed in the form of a fabric (gauze) or a knit (net). The two known embodiments have drawbacks. The knitting defect consists of. what it is extensible *. To remedy this, it is true that a tape or a traction wire is employed, or other means serving to compensate for the extension.

   The fabric has the disadvantage of fraying. To eliminate this last defect, one foresees,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 it is true, knots and eyelets or other means of attachment.

   The present invention aims to eliminate the above drawbacks, so that the sheath does not become chipped or stretched.

   In the hygienic band according to the present invention, the sheath consists of a chain of woven yarns and a weft of single yarns.

   In one embodiment, judged to be the most favorable, of the periodic strip according to the invention, the weft threads pass through the nodes of the mesh threads.

   It is obvious that if the threads are fixed to each other at the crossing points, the anchoring possibilities are considerably increased, especially in the direction of the warp threads, while, on the other hand, the length of the threads remains substantially constant, even if the ends of the warp threads are pulled with force. However, there remains a limited elasticity which is desirable in order to ensure flexible application.

   It is understood that if the object according to the invention is to serve as a casing, it can be fitted with devices permitting the temporary or definitive sealing, while if it is to serve as a casing, it can be fitted with. opening means known per se.

   Of course, one can apply various species of yarn or combinations of different species of yarn, the density of the stitches or the thickness of the threads can still be varied.

   In addition, the wires or the object itself may be provided with specific substances, intended for example to promote flexibility or to prevent soiling of external objects in the event of the article in question being wet.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   It is for example known to apply pools of cotton to threads by depositing adhesive on the latter at points which are space between them, these fibers being oriented in any way or parallel to each other.

   However, when, for reasons of tradition, it is nevertheless desired to have knots, ears or eyelets, these elements can be, much more easily than hitherto, either made up or fixed using the aid. mechanical devices known per se.

   The object according to the invention is also applicable as a packaging article.

   The accompanying drawing shows, on an enlarged scale and by way of example, a part of the sheath intended for the paper lining.

   This sheath is formed by a chain of threads executed in the form of a very narrow chain and arranged parallel and at a certain distance from each other. Weft threads, formed by simple filamentary elements 2, are arranged transversely with respect to the meshed warp threads.

   The assembly forms a net-shaped envelope which does not stretch in the longitudinal direction, even if the ends of the warp threads are pulled with force. The weft threads maintain the dressing in an upright position between the mesh threads, while leaving a degree of resiliency, which is desirable for flexible application.

   The manufacture of the article according to the invention is very simple, which makes it possible to lower the cost price.
