Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

   <Desc / Clms Page number 1>

   The present invention relates to seat cushions, padding, mattresses, box springs, bolsters, pillows and the like of spongy plastics or foam, preferably of a synthetic spongy resin based on polyesters and isocyanates.

   Seat cushions, fillings, mattresses, box springs, bolsters, pillows and the like made of foam rubber, latex and other substances are known. In accordance with the materials from which they are made, these padding elements are characterized by different properties and manufacturing processes. When using foam rubber, for example, they are made in molds. Most of the time,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 these padding elements have recesses on the underside, to increase elasticity and to save raw material. These recesses are further intended for better air circulation because the foam rubber has many small pores, which hinder intense air circulation.

   According to the invention, seat cushions, upholstery elements, mattresses, box springs, bolsters, pillows and the like are made from profiled sheets of spongy plastics material. Profile sheets are profiled on one or both sides in such a way that recesses and protrusions are obtained in the longitudinal or transverse direction.

   The use of plates with flat faces of spongy plastic material for the manufacture of the objects indicated above is known. Plates having vertical or horizontal recesses, obtained either mechanically, or as a result of the manufacture of the object in molds, or also by subsequent thermal deformation, are also known.

   The invention on the other hand provides for the use of profiled plates.

  These plates are fabricated, without loss of material, from spongy plastics, so that favorable physical properties are obtained and also advantages from an economic point of view.

   The spongy plastic material is subdivided without loss using heated wires arranged in profile, so that at each operation at least two profiled elements are obtained, each profiled element having a flat face and a profiled face. It is also possible to perform several cuts of the raw material, the additional elements obtained being profiled on each face. Profiles have any shape, they can be rectilinear, angular, wavy, etc., and their direction is also arbitrary.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   A profiled surface therefore has recesses and projections. The height and width of the recesses and protrusions may be the same or different.

   The shape of the profile is independent of the shape of the profiled element to be produced. For the manufacture of this profiled padding element, at least one profiled plate obtained in the aforementioned manner is required. It is also possible to combine several profiled plates into a single padding element, the profiles of the constituent elements being offset with respect to one another. In this way bodies are obtained which have hollows filled with air. It is also possible to cover one or all of the faces of a profiled plate or of several superimposed profiled plates of similar or different materials, for example of rubberized fabric, or the padding body can be wrapped on all sides.

   When at least two profiled plates are used for the manufacture of a padding element, the joining of these plates takes place by known methods, for example by gluing or by high frequency welding. When the profiled plates are housed in an outer casing, reunion is not necessary.

   The drawing shows some embodiments, given by way of example only, of the object of the present invention.

   Fig. 1 shows in perspective a padding element consisting of a single profiled plate.

   Fig. 2 represents the spongy plastic material used as a raw material for the profiled plates, while
Fig. 3 shows two profiled places obtained by cutting the body shown in FIG. 2 '.

   In Fig. 1 is shown a profiled plate with a flat face 11 and a profiled face 12. The profiles are rectilinear. Used as a seat cushion, the shape of this plate can be square, rectangular, round or oval.

  You can also choose other shapes, will match with incisions.

   As the raw material for the production of the padding elements, a spongy plastic part 13 is employed, as shown in FIG. 2. This part 13 is cut using one or more electrically heated wires 14 arranged in profile, and after the cutting operation, two profiled plates 15 and 16 are obtained.

 of raw material, and drau.,

   pàrt uae usstion'sensible of the elasticity of the material compared to the bodies in full spongy material. Compared to the profiles obtained mechanically, for example by milling, the profiles according to the invention have a substantially high surface resistance. In fact, during the cutting of the spongy material by the heated wire, the spongy plastic material becomes thermoplastic on its surface, and the edges of the pores are thus welded to each other.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

   The manufacture of mattresses or bed fillings is carried out in the same manner. It is also possible to superimpose three profiled plates 15,16917 the contacting profiles each time making an angle of 90 between them, retort shown in Fig. 5
