<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to a switch for suspended tracks of the monorail type, the profile of which is constituted by a sheath in the form of an inverted U with edges curved inward. These edges constitute the raceway of the rollers of the power socket carriages. The conductors, when the track is electrified, are placed on the ceiling of the shaft.
Known cast iron switches have the drawback that for a very intense service the raceway tends to widen over time so that in the event of wear the entire body of the device must be replaced. The object of the present invention is to eliminate this hazard by virtue of a special constructive assembly arrangement allowing the rapid interchangeability of the part serving as the running surface. This rolling track is attached in the form of a sole bolted against the body of the lane changing apparatus. By virtue of this arrangement, these soles can be made of hard steel while assembling them to the carcass from the foundry.
The needle point, itself made of steel and in the form of a swiveling tongue, can easily be replaced once the soles have been removed. In addition, when the track is electrified, the current outlet is provided such that when passing the switch, the current supply is ensured whatever the position of the collectors and without possible short circuit at the bifurcation of the switches. lanes.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention in 10 figures in the case of an electrified track.
Fig. 1 indicates the profile of the current track and its superstructure,
Fig. 2 relates to a schematic section through the body of the needle near the entry and showing the insert sole,
Fig. 3 to 5 relate to the needle proper and to its assembly, shown schematically in FIG. 3 in elevation,
Fig. 4 in position opening the diverted lane,
Fig. 5 in position corresponding to the direct channel,
Fig. 6 is the diagram of the arrangement of the electrical conductors in the switch, shown in perspective,
Fig. 7 is the longitudinal profile of the direct track with manifolds where the switch passes,
Fig. 8 is the longitudinal profile of the deviated track with collectors engaged in the bifurcation,
Fig.
9 shows in perspective the entire switch body from below and from the side of the forked tracks,
Fig. 10 illustrates the same switch body in the disassembled state and showing the soles and the tongue placed beside it.
In the current channel 1, the conductors 2 are placed on the ceiling and the entire sheath is suspended from a suitable superstructure 3 (Fig. 1). The switch body 4 (Fig. 2) comprises a casing from the foundry with running shoes 5 and 6 assembled to the casing by means of bolts 7.
The needle (Fig. 3 to 5) consists of a tongue 8 wedged on a pivot whose axis .2. is held on the one hand in the ceiling of the oarcase of the switch 4. and on the other hand in the sole 10. In order to reduce
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the overhang of the tongue 2. under the needle (Fig. 3 and 10), tie rods 11 support it, fixed to the ceiling of the carcass and passing through an opening 12 with clearance of the tongue 8 (Fig. 4 and 5) to allow movement of the latter.
In the tracks formed by the soles ± and 6, notches 5a and 6a are provided, serving to accommodate the tip of the needle 8, in order to erase it and prevent it from being an obstacle to the passage of the rollers. carts.
In Fig. 4 the tongue occupies position 8 'freeing the passage from the diverted channel AB. According to FIG. 5, the tongue is placed in position 8 "releasing the direct path AC.
When the track is electrified, it is essential to take special precautions for the conductors in the vicinity of the intersections of the running paths to prevent the overlapping of the phases.
As shown in the diagram of FIG. 6, the conductors 2 of the diverted track AB are stopped near the bifurcation and their ends 2a curved upwards. As for the conductors 2 of the direct line AC, they are continuous but, at the right of the junction, raised in 2b. The electrical connection between sections AB and AC is provided by ducts 2c.
Instead of the raised section 2b, this part could be coated with an insulating sheath.
By making use of current collectors resting axially on the cradle of at least two bogies 13 and 14 to which the motor 15 is connected and by ensuring that the distance is slightly greater than the length of the overhang 2b, the contact will be provided by one of the collectors 13a, while the other 14a will be in the area of the raising 2b of the direct AC channel (Fig. 7) without contact, so that the electric current supply will never be interrupted.
On the other hand, when the same collector trolley takes the diverted track AB (Fig. 8), whatever its position, contact will be provided either by group 14a or by group 13a.
In addition to the previous schematic figures, Figs. 9 and 10 show in perspective the whole of a switch block.
In FIG. 9, it is represented seen from below and showing the connections for the channels B and C. The tongue can also be seen there in position 8 'opening the deflected channel corresponding to FIG. 4. Lever 16 is used to control the needle. This control can be mechanical by pull tabs. It can also be made automatic by the passage of the carriages when they approach the switch at the heel, by providing, for this purpose, before the switch, stops which the carriages push back as they pass and which actuate. lever 16 using a suitable linkage.
Electrical operation is also possible, for example by following the installation described in the French patent? 1,055,265.
Finally, FIG. 10 shows the switch seen from below, the soles 5 and 6 of which are removed. We can also see the cover 10 of the needle, the tongue 8, its pivot 9 and the enlarged opening 12 through which penetrates the tie rod 11.
