Description
<EMI ID=1.1>

<EMI ID = 1.1>
water, to drive at least most of the moisture it contains from the wood and replace it with said fuel.
The invention also comprises a piece of fuelwood obtained by this process.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a piece of wood according to the invention.
An implementation of the method that comprises the invention will now be described, also by way of example.
We take pieces of wood of elongated shape, for example sections of forest still provided with their bark. These pieces of wood can be green or partially dry. Such a piece is represented
in 1 on the drawing. Slots are made in this part, one of which, 2, extends from the upper end of the part to the vicinity of its lower end (in the drawing), while another slot (3) s' inversely extends from the lower end of the part 1 to the vicinity of the upper end. The slots 2 and 3 are arranged in perpendicular planes.
This being done, the parts such as the one just described are immersed in a bath of combustible material brought to a temperature notably higher than that of the boiling of water, to expel
most if not all of the moisture in the wood,
and replace it with said fuel. This bath can be a bath of molten paraffin brought to about 200 [deg.] C, an oil bath, brought to for example
150 [deg.] C, a bath of melted tallow, or even used lubricating oil, worn
at a temperature above 120 [deg.] C.
After a few minutes of immersion, the wood is completely impregnated with combustible material and the manufacture is finished. After cooling, the pieces of wood thus treated can be lit simply with a match, without paper or kindling, and burn for a relatively long time and with an increased calorific value due to the fuel incorporated in the wood, instead and instead of the moisture it contained.
When it is not a question of high forest, but of wood obtained from pieces of large dimensions, it will be advantageous to make slots perpendicular to the direction of the wood fibers, which accelerates the extraction of humidity and facilitates impregnation.
CLAIMS.
1. A method of manufacturing firewood pieces, characterized in that slits are made in pieces of wood which are then immersed in a bath of combustible material brought to a temperature significantly higher than that of boiling of water, to drive away at least most of the moisture it contains from the wood and replace it with said fuel.
