Fig. 1 est une coupe verticale de la torche;
Fig. 2 est une coupe d'une partie de la fig. 1, à plus grande échelle;
Fig. 3 est une vue en plan de la torche sans le socket;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to improvements to electric torches or flashlights of the type comprising a battery which is housed in a housing and a bulb which is ignited by closing an electrical circuit between the battery and the bulb.
The object of the invention is to provide a flashlight which can be used to check the integrity of household or other fuses or the continuity of conductors and electrical circuits, by virtue of a single auxiliary contact causing only an additional charge. of negligible price when incorporated in the manufacture of the new torch or flashlight.
According to the invention, an electric torch or flashlight of the aforementioned type comprises an external auxiliary contact, isolated from the housing, which lights the bulb when an electric circuit is established between this contact and the housing, which makes it possible to check the integrity of a household or other fuse or the continuity of an electrical circuit by placing the ends of the fuse or circuit on the auxiliary contact and on the case, respectively.
The invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the torch;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of part of FIG. 1, on a larger scale;
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the torch without the socket;
Fig. 4 is a section similar to FIG. 2, representing a variant.
The electric torch shown comprises a tubular metal case 10, enclosing a battery 11, provided with a central electrode 12 for contacting an electric bulb 13, the opposite end or the periphery of the battery 11 forming the second terminal of contact. The stack is covered with a paper or cardboard envelope and is in contact with the housing 10 by means of a spring 14, in a known manner.
The bulb 13 is carried by a socket 15 mounted in a socket 16 of insulating material, screwed or fixed to one end of the housing 10. The bulb 13 is normally lit by means of a switch 16a which brings a flexible metal blade. 17 in contact with the socket 15 to close the circuit. An insulating tape 18 can. be provided between the blade 17 and the housing 10.
The housing 10 carries an auxiliary contact 19 which is isolated therefrom by a disc 20 comprising a tubular part which passes through the housing.
The contact 19 may take the form of a bifurcated rivet and is connected to a blade 21 in contact with the sleeve 15 and separated from the housing by an insulating strip 22.
The switch 16a being open, the bulb 13 can be turned on when the circuit between the contact 19 and the housing 10 is closed by placing between them a domestic fuse or other 23 or by connecting any other electrical circuit to it. If the fuse is not intact or if the circuit is cut, the bulb will not light up.
In the variant according to FIG. 4, a switch 24 closes the circuit of the bulb by bringing a blade 25 into contact with the blade 29 of the socket 15.
A pusher 26, isolated from the housing 10, passes through it and is normally pushed inside by a spring 27 which attacks a flange of the pusher. The pusher carries inside the housing an auxiliary contact 28 which attacks the contact blade 29 of the ball 15 when the pusher is
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
depressed and its end attacking the blade 25 away from contact with the blade 29 of the socket 15, thus interrupting the circuit of the bulb 13.
If, however, a fuse 23 or other circuit is connected between the end of the pusher 26 and the casing 10, and if the pusher is pushed in to interrupt the normal circuit at the bulb 13, the continuation of the movement of the pusher closes the circuit. by the auxiliary contact 28, lighting the bulb again if the fuse is intact or if the circuit connected between the button and the box is not cut.
