Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The present invention relates to the manufacture of a seamless bag, which can for example be used for packaging onions.

The bag as it appears is, according to the invention, obtained exclusively by a weaving process or artifice described below and does not require any sewing for its completion.

The fabric used is therefore a double fabric, the basic cross of which is gauze or marquisette obtained by means of stringers with single eyelets.

This double fabric is formed of 2 superimposed fabrics, each of which requires its' set of blades - that is to say 1 blade carrying the ground thread, a second carrying the turn thread and finally 2 others joined together by the panty to eyelet which are used to shape the gauze stitch.

This set of blades is therefore double, one for the upper fabric. the other for the lower fabric. These two sets work alternately every two picks, that is to say during two picks, the set corresponding to the upper fabric will be in movement so as to form the desired crossing and during this time, the play of the fabric will be stopped and lowered. The following 2 picks will be intended for the upper fabric, the crossing of which will be obtained by working its set of blades, while the upper set will be at rest but completely lifted.

The chain mounted on the same beam is obviously separated into two layers, one upper, the other lower, and these two layers each have their movable thread carrier which corresponds to the turning thread. These mobile wire carriers also work alternately every two picks: each time their turn wire passes over the ground wire to form what is commonly called the gas point.

These two tissues (upper and lower) are therefore not linked together and form the walls of the bag. They are, however, united on one side in a fixed selvedge, woven as a "canvas" cross. This fixed and common edge will give the bottom of the bag. The desired height of the bag will therefore be the width in which the fabric will have been woven.

Every x centimeters the upper and lower fabrics will be melted into one and the same fabric for a few picks by simultaneously working the two sets of blades. This unique fabric thus obtained will do the office of the sewing which is necessary for the making of an ordinary bag. The distance X at which the upper and lower fabrics are brought together therefore corresponds to the width of the bag. After weaving, when the fabric has been dyed and dressed, it suffices to get the bag ready for use. simply cut the fabric in the direction of the weft, in the middle of the places where the upper and lower fabrics are joined.

    CLAIMS AND SUMMARIES.

1.-New method of weaving bags without seams characterized by the fact that one weaves a double fabric formed of two superimposed fabrics each having its own warp and its own weft, by means of a set of double blades, working alternately all the two picks, the chain separated into two plies being mounted on the same beam, each ply having its movable thread carrier corresponding to the thread of all. said son carriers also work alternately every two picks, all as described.
