La fig. 1 représente en perspective le container conforme à 1' invention ;
La fig. 3 représente, avec arrachement partiel, un des panneaux latéraux de ce container ;
La fig. 4 représente le container une fois replié;
2 montrant sa liaison avec le panneau horizontal supérieur;
La fig. 6 est une vue partielle du panneau latéral de la fig. 2 montrant sa liaison avec le panneau horizontal inférieur;
La figo 7 représente l'ouverture ménagée dans une des portes;
La fig. 8 représente à plus grande échelle la partie centrale de la figure 7;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to an improved container allowing both sea, rail and road transport of sblid, liquid or powdery goods and to a method of handling such a container.
The present invention relates to an improved container for all goods packaged in drums, or in bulk, container which can be folded up for the return trip or storage.
The previously known containers have many drawbacks.
They are not strictly waterproof.
The same known container cannot transport solid goods on the outward journey and return of bulk liquid goods or vice versa.
When the containers that we currently manufacture are collapsible for the return journey, the reduction in volume, empty, is slight.
The present invention relates to an improved container avoiding all the aforementioned drawbacks. The container according to the invention has the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped and is easily foldable into a single package, the volume of which is approximately 20% of the volume of the container once unfolded. A sheet of rubber or a similar product internally covers the container, thus ensuring the tightness of the latter. When transporting liquid products in bulk, an additional waterproof bladder is used which is arranged inside the container and which, when filled, occupies all the useful space of the container.
A description will now be given, by way of illustration of the possibilities for implementing the invention and without any limiting nature of the scope thereof, a particular embodiment taken as an example and shown in the appended drawing, in which :
Fig. 1 shows in perspective the container according to the invention;
Fig. 2 shows with partial cutaway one of the doors of this container.
Fig. 3 shows, with partial cut away, one of the side panels of this container;
Fig. 4 represents the container once folded;
Fig. 5 is a partial view of the side panel of FIG.
2 showing its connection to the upper horizontal panel;
Fig. 6 is a partial view of the side panel of FIG. 2 showing its connection to the lower horizontal panel;
Figo 7 shows the opening made in one of the doors;
Fig. 8 shows on a larger scale the central part of FIG. 7;
Fig. 9 is a plan view of the cover covering the opening shown in FIGS. 7 and 8.
As can be seen in fig. 1, the container according to the invention comprises in combination a prismatic frame, the four faces of which formed by panels a, b, b 'and c are joined together along their common parallel sides by continuous hinges f of the piano hinge type, and dpux doors d and d ', each provided with two lugs 1 which are housed in two brackets pierced with a hole and welded to the feet of the lower panel c.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The edges of each of the panels a, b, b 'are curved at a right angle and are fitted in place with gussets h, arranged perpendicular to the surface of these panels and to their curved edges.
Two opposite edges of panel c are curved (as can be seen particularly in Fig. 6) to form the feet on which the container rests.
All the panels are fitted with cross-probed i-profiles which act as stiffeners.
The edges of the doors of d and d are turned over at an angle of 80.
Loading of solid non-powdery goods; takes place, the container resting on the feet of the panel c. the doors d and d resting on the floor (the lugs ides horizontal doors d and being engaged in the corresponding holes in the brackets of the panel c) or even removed, the two openings corresponding to the doors.
To close the container, the doors are tilted, around the pins ± from their horizontal position to the vertical position, so as to allow the locking devices e to grip the edges of the doors.
These locking devices push in like a wedge the door which, thanks to its edge at 80, fits into the opening of the container by pressing strongly on the edges of the panels a, b, b ', c by 1' intermediate of a continuous rubber seal 1 going all the way around the openings which are closed off by the doors d and d '.
The fitting of the doors d and d 'allows the assembly to retain the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, the rubber seal 1 damping side impacts outside handling.
To fold the container, we remove the doors d and d and we lower the panel b until it comes to rest by its edge on the ground, by rotation around the hinge f between this panel b and the panel c , thus bringing panels ± and b in the same horizontal plane (fig. 4).
During this time, the panels a and b 'come to rest respectively on the panels b and c and offer two housings to the doors d and d' which are fixed to the panels a and b 'by means of the locking device. e. Thanks to this organization, the container, once folded, constitutes a single flat package on which a second folded container can be placed, and so on.
A continuous sheet k of rubber or a similar product fixed by gluing and / or riveting covers the panels a, b, b 'and c, this sheet being placed under the joint 1 (fig. 3, 5 and 6). this sheet
The sealing of the interior volume is ensured by this rubber sheet k the gasket 1 and the installation of the doors d and d pressing strongly on the gasket 1.
The transport of bulk liquids is provided by a bladder q, which, once filled, occupies all the useful space of the container (resting on one of the doors d), resting against the side walls and against the doors.
The other door d '(shown in Fig. 7) is provided with an opening, the door d' being convex to allow as complete as possible flushing of the residual air.
Around this opening (shown on a larger scale in fig. 8) is welded to the door of a flange r. The bladder valve is provided with a bead which comes to rest on the flange r.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
A tube o having a flange comes to bear via a seal B. on the flange of the valve of the bladder via a hinged cover n.
This cover is formed, for example, by a bolt with a "tallow drop" head and a wing nut.
Tube o is as short as possible to allow air to be flushed out of the bladder. Finally, a hinged cover m fixed to the door d 'for example by a bolt and a wing nut protects the cover n.
The handling of the container according to the invention can be done either with a "Clark" or "Fenwick" type lift or with a crane; a) when the container is filled with solid non-pulverulent goods and rests on panel c, the lift pallets can pass under this panel c, either through the openings which are made (fig2) in the feet of this panel, or between his feet (fig. 3).
Maneuvering with the crane is done using the hooks g (fig. 1 and 3). b) When the container is loaded with powdery or liquid goods in bulk and rests on the door [the lift pallets pass through the notches provided in the edges of the door d.
Maneuvering with the crane is also effected by means of hooks fixed to the walls b and 12. 'perpendicularly to those which are used when the container rests on the panel c.
