<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Afin que l'invention puisse être comprise plus complètement et aisément, elle sera maintenant décrite en se référant au dessin annexé, dans lequel ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

BLANCHET OR APRON FOR TEXTILE PRINTING MACHINES, WITH CYLINDER AND ROLLERS, AND A METHOD AND MEANS FOR USING IT.
The object of the invention is to provide a new or improved blanket or apron for textile printing machines, cylinder and roll, and a method and means for using it, such that both sides of a fabric can be printed simultaneously in multiple colors.
According to the invention, the new or improved blanket or apron for sheet printing machines, cylinder and roll, comprises one or more lengths of base material on a surface or side of which is glued, molded, bonded or otherwise fixed a layer or layers of cellular rubber, synthetic cellular rubber, cellular latex, or any other similar or suitable material or substance, the surface of which is multi-cellular in nature capable of retaining dyeing, etchant or dyeing agents. impression, without smearing.
The blanket may be of endless construction or it may be provided to be assembled at its ends.
The method and means for using the aforesaid blanket consist in passing the blanket around a part of a cylinder or pressure roller provided with two sets of drawing printing rollers associated with their suppliers, doctor blades and wash boxes. or inked in the usual manner, the fabric to be printed being fed to said cylinder at a location between the two sets of printing rollers such that one set of printing rollers transfers its design to the blanket from which one side of the fabric is printed, and the other set of printing rollers simultaneously print the opposite side of the fabric directly.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Each of the aforementioned sets of printing rollers may consist of two or more rolls depending on the nature of the design or the number of colors to be reproduced.
In order that the invention may be understood more completely and easily, it will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which;
Figure 1 is a cross section of a fragment of a blanket or apron for textile printing machines, cylinder, constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view of a fragment of the blanket shown in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a side schematic view of a cylinder type textile printing machine for use with the above blanket.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, it will be seen that the new or improved blanket or apron 1 is composed of a length of woven fabric fabric '2 of the appropriate length, width and thickness. A layer or ply of cellular rubber 3 is glued, molded or otherwise fixed to a surface of the fabric 2, so as to be integral therewith.
The structure of the cover 3 is such that its face is multicellular in nature capable of retaining dye, miter or printing agents without allowing these agents to stain or spread when the blanket is used.
The blanket may be, and preferably is, of endless construction, but it may be provided to be assembled at its ends as required.
It should be understood that the blanket, instead of having a base of textile material 2, may have a base consisting of rubber, synthetic rubber, synthetic resin, metal, or any other suitable material to which the cell layer cover 3 may be fixed or bonded, and that this layer 3 may be made of latex, synthetic rubber, any suitable synthetic resin, or other suitable material or substance capable of being shaped to have a face of multicellular work. Or the blanket may comprise a combination of any of the above materials and it may have more than a base thickness 2 and 2A (as indicated in phantom in Figure 1) or more than a cover layer 3.
In any case, the finished blanket should not be able to elongate in order to obtain a good impression.
Referring now to Figure 3, at 4 is seen a pressure cylinder or roller provided with an outer casing 5 in the well-known manner, which is intended to be carried in a suitable frame and to be driven from there. usual way by any well-known gear arrangement.
Around the cylinder or roller 4 are grouped two sets of pattern printing rollers 6 and 7 and with each roller are associated the usual supplier 10, blade doctor blades 8 and 9 and a wash or ink box.
An endless blanket or apron 1, of the type already described, is arranged so as to pass over guide members 12 and 13 which form part of the machine or which may be arranged near the latter, said blanket passing around it. 'part of cylinder 4.
In practice, the endless blanket 1 moves in the direction of the arrows and the first set of printing rollers of the design 6 transfers its respective designs to the multicellular surface of the blanket.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Halfway around the machine is a fabric guide member 14, over which the fabric 15 to be printed passes, the latter being fed to the machine at a location between the two sets of printing rollers 6 and 7. The fabric then passes around a part of cylinder 4 between the latter and the printing rollers of design 7.
It will be observed, therefore, that the first set of printing rollers 6 transfers its designs to the blanket 1 and the latter subsequently comes into contact with the fabric 15 and prints one side thereof. At the same time, the second set of printing rolls 7 prints its designs directly on the opposite side of the fabric. The printed fabric then passes over the guide member 16 and forward to some suitable well-known dryer, and the blanket 1 moves forward to a washing or scouring machine. suitable whatever, followed by hot rolls, or the like, to dry the blanket ready to repeat the process as already described.
