PERFECTIONNEMENTS AUX GROUPES TUBULAIRES GENERATEURS ET SURCHAUFFEURS DE
VAPEUR.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

IMPROVEMENTS FOR TUBULAR GROUPS GENERATORS AND SUPERHEATERS OF
STEAM.
This intention relates to steam generator and superheater tubular groups the hearth of which is intended to burn an ash-containing fuel at temperatures at which the ash is molten and which have a convection path containing steam heating surfaces. As the and final superheat temperature required of steam generator and superheater groups have increased, difficulties have arisen in these groups due to deposits of plastics on the convection superheaters.
In order to reduce the temperature of the slag particles at the inlet of a convection section of the steam generator and superheater group, a radiation chamber has been placed between a hearth and the convection section in order to cool the gases by radiation to vaporizing tubes lining the walls of the chamber. However, for a limited temperature at the inlet of a convection section, obtaining the desired high vapor temperature may be difficult or impossible and it has been proposed to employ in addition from a convection superheater a convection superheater. radiation in the form of widely spaced tube panels within a radiation chamber in the vicinity of its exit to the convection path.
Heretofore it has been considered necessary to locate the radiant superheater in a region where the safe metal temperature of the superheater tubes is not exceeded and this has limited the size of the surface of the radiant superheater and its location. An object of the present invention is to provide an improved arrangement of a radiant superheater.
In a tubular steam generator and superheater comprising a furnace arranged to burn an ash content fuel at a voltage

above and from an upper gas outlet, a radiant steam superheater comprising, in an area spaced from the top of the radiant chamber and located below the gas outlet, tubular surfaces covered with refractory material.
The invention will be described below by way of example with reference to the appended very schematic drawing, showing in longitudinal vertical section, the focus, the radiation section and part of the convection section of a group. for the production of high pressure steam and the superheating of high temperature steam.
In the drawing, a cyclone 1 focus of the type shown in
Figs. 3 to 9 of Patent No. 465.146 discharges the products of combustion into a secondary combustion chamber 2 from which leaves a vertical radiating chamber 3, an upper region of which communicates with a lateral gas path 4 leading to a gas path descending 5.
The side walls of the secondary combustion chamber 2 and of the radiation chamber 3 are lined with vaporizing tubes in a suitable known manner, and other vaporizing tubes are connected at their lower ends to a lower cylindrical body 6 connected by means of descending columns (not shown) to a cylindrical body. vapor and liquid 7. Some of these tubes line the hearth and the front wall of the secondary combustion chamber 2 and help line the front wall of the radius chamber. Other tubes form a slag screen across the outlet of the secondary combustion chamber and help line the front wall of the radiation chamber, while still other tubes line the chamber. rear wall of the radiation chamber.
At the level of the lower part of the gas outlet of the radiation chamber the tubes of the front and rear walls respectively terminate in manifolds 11 and 12 and the riser tubes 13 of the cyclone hearth are connected to the manifold 11. Some tubes connected to the collectors 11 and 12 are curved inwards and help to form a neck 14 in the radiation chamber. Tubes extending from the bottom up from the collector 11 towards the cylindrical body 7 help line the front wall of the radiation chamber while tubes extending from the bottom up from the collector 12 form a screen at the outlet of the tube. the radiation chamber and extend under the sky of this chamber to enter the cylindrical body 7.
The pipe for the discharge of molten slag from the secondary combustion chamber is shown at 15.
Inside the radiation chamber 3 is a radiant steam superheater 16 formed of a number of pendent, widely spaced panels of tubes which descend from the sky of the radiation chamber and penetrate deep into it. hereby passing through the neck 14. Preferably, the tube panels are spaced apart from each other at a distance of about 19 1/2 to 39 inches (0.50 m to 1 m approx), the ends of the panels being spaced the same distance from the side walls of the radiation chamber, and preferably the panels are spaced from the front and rear walls of the radiation chamber at a distance of about 19 1/2 inches ( 0.50 m).
Each panel of tubes is formed of a number of grouped U-tubes connected at their ends to a collector 17 disposed above the sky of the radiation chamber and divided by a membrane 18 into two parts respectively connected to an inlet pipe 19 coming from the vapor chamber of the cylindrical body 7 and to an outlet pipe 20. The circulation of the vapor therefore takes place from the pipe 19 through the tubes of the tube panel to the pipe 20. The part of the panel located below the gas outlet of the radiation chamber is covered with refractory material 21, the parts of the tubes located in this location being provided with lugs serving to fix the material, -refractory.
Inside the side gas path 4 is a superheater section 22 formed of vertical sinuous tubes whose transverse pitch.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The gas stream is relatively wide, while within the downward path 5 are superheater sections 23, 24 and 25 formed of horizontal tubes whose pitch transverse to the gas stream is relatively narrow. The lower part of the side gas path 4 slopes steeply up and down towards the radiating chamber at an angle of about 55 to the horizontal.
In operation, the hot gases and the slag particles entrained by rising in the side gas outlet radiate. +. heat not only to the walls of the radiation chamber but also to the refractory lined lower parts of the radiant superheater tube panels, which lower parts contribute significantly to cooling the slag particles to a suitable temperature before they reach the lateral path 4. As a result, the size of the vaporizing surface and therefore the dimensions of the part of the radiation chamber located below the gas outlet can be reduced.
At the same time, the refractory coated undersides of the radiant superheater tube panels impart a noticeable degree of superheat to the steam despite the reduced heat transmission due to the refractory covering which serves to prevent overheating of the metal of the heaters. tubes. As the tube panels are freely suspended and can expand up and down, the stresses in the tubes are reduced to a minimum.
The neck 14 helps to bring all of the gas stream @ under the cooling influence of the radiant superheater and increasing the gas velocity helps to maintain an effective gas stream over the portion of the tube panels between the neck and the sky of the radiation chamber.
