<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

BURNER FOR LIQUID FUEL.
The object of the invention consists in the production of a calfaction oil burner, operating by natural air intake and eliminating any blower, motor or attached equipment.
It is characterized by the means used taken as a whole as well as separately and more particularly by the fuel fluid supply duct constituting a nozzle bringing in the combustion air at the same time or even a fluid activating the combustion itself of the fuel. 'hydrocarbon. The shape of the burner itself, by its heat-conserving mass, activates gasification and its openings creating turbulence, give this device a maximum of useful effects.
In the accompanying drawings, given by way of non-limiting example of one of the embodiments of the object of the invention:
Fig. 1 shows the burner as a whole seen in longitudinal section.
Fig. 2 shows the same object seen in perspective.
The burner, fig. I is constituted by a mass or frame of suitable metal, which can be cylindrical or parallelepiped, forming a combustion chamber, with a rectilinear bottom I and vertical walls 2, 3, whether or not extending by a fold-over 4.
One of the walls 2 is provided with an opening 5 allowing a duct 6 to pass, the end 7 of which is profiled. This slightly inclined duct is open at its opposite end 8. A vertical connection 9 opens onto the duct and is provided at its upper part with a receptacle 10 receiving the hydrocarbon.
The opposite wall 3 is also provided with an opening II.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The longitudinal walls 12 and opposite, as well as the transverse ones 13, are provided with windows 14, 15 and others.
Each opening is fitted with an adjustment device which increases or decreases the flow rate of the inlet.
The operation of the device is as follows.
After having lit a body on the bottom I of the frame at the point where the end 7 of the duct 6 opens, the hydrocarbon is made to flow into the receptacle 10. The latter follows the pipe 9 and following the slope 6 comes s' ignite in the burner.
The combustion air is then sucked in through the opening 8 arrow A, this air also takes care of the volatile parts of the fuel.
The additional air is called up by opening II, arrow B, and thus creates turbulence activating the flame and combustion.
The openings 14, 15 ensure the draft and give the fireplace increased power.
It is possible to add a water inlet to the pipe 9 which facilitates the wedging.
After a few moments the burner frame acquires a sufficient temperature to ensure self-gasification so that ignition occurs before the hydrocarbon has hit bottom. Complete combustion occurs without fouling or the like.
All of the hot gases are then directed to the opening 16, arrow C, where it contacts such a heat-receiving user device.
Through the opening 8, it is possible to clean the pipe 6 and remove the aggregates that could have accumulated on the spout 7.
This burner can use all heavy or light hydrocarbons, and of all densities, even without straightening, the heating of the adduction conduits causing them to undergo gasifying pre-combustion, eliminating any flow irregularity. In addition, contact with the superheated mass of the burner ensures total combustion even of tars and other impurities.
It gives the possibility, given its dimensions and constructional forms, of being used exactly like ordinary burners in all current installations, fixed or mobile, where it gives the best results.
Its extremely simple and foolproof operation, by simple gravity, eliminates all blowers and ancillary devices, maintenance generators and faulty operation.
All the elements are very accessible and interchangeable, and extremely easy to maintain.
The solution of continuity between the oil tank and the receiver 10 eliminates any cause of heating and the risk of fire, while facilitating stillation.
It goes without saying that the shapes, dimensions and arrangements of the various elements as well as the materials used for their manufacture may vary without thereby changing the general conception of the invention which has just been described.
