<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
La poutre longitudinale 25 réglable est suspendue de la ma- nière suivante à l'avant du tracteur;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

AGRICULTURAL TOOL FOR CLEANING PITCHES AND TRACING Furrows.
As a whole, the present invention relates to a soil working implement of the extended blade type and executed in such a way that it can be mounted on a tractor or the like.
The main object of the invention is the production of an agricultural tool specially adapted, but not limited to the cleaning and leveling of the edges of ditches or to the tracing of furrows or flower beds in the fields, before the seeding.
According to the invention, the agricultural tool consists of an elongated blade, arranged laterally and which, when it is in operation, extends longitudinally with respect to the direction of advance, towards the front and towards the outside of the tractor. The tool also includes a new and adjustable mount for the blade to tilt the blade forward and down to allow it to work in a spanking along the edge of the latter for cleaning and lamination. 'stepping, or the blade may be substantially horizontal to work the surface of a field in order to make furrows or flower beds,
Also according to the invention, the agricultural tool is connected to the tractor so that it can be adjusted vertically, and this, in a novel way,
as the assembly includes a vertically tilting traction frame spanning the rear of the tractor. A hydraulic cylinder is used to adjust the vertical position of said traction frame. ...
In addition, the agricultural tool according to the invention is provided with a spreading wing, cooperating with the upper part of the elongated blade and serving to spread the earth, brought to the top of the edge of the ditch by said blade when the tractor moves along said edge.
The agricultural implement according to the invention is simple and relatively inexpensive to execute and can easily be mounted on or removed from the tractor.

Fig. 5 is, on a larger scale, an elevation of the rear end of one of the blade assemblies comprising a spreading wing and its mounting,
Fig. 6 is a partial elevation of the traction frame and of the actuator along line 6-6 of FIG. 3.
Fig. 7 is a cross section of one of the blade assemblies.
According to the invention, the tool comprises a U-shaped traction frame, generally identified by 1 and produced so as to span the rear of the tractor 2, the side arms 3 of the frame extend forward, at the 'outside of the caterpillar 4 ,. tractor.
At their front end, the side arms 3 of the traction frame 1 pivot at 5 on supports 6 fixed to the frame 7 of the tractor and in this way the traction frame 1 can tilt vertically.
The vertical adjustment of the traction frame 1 is obtained by the following mechanism:
A pair of hydraulic cylinders 8 are mounted on the platform 9 at the rear of the tractor and said cylinders are vertical and move transversely apart from each other; the vertical piston rod 10 of each that cylinder 8 pivots at 11 on a corresponding longitudinal arm 12, tilting vertically, and pivoting at its front end, on the rear end 13 of the tractor and, at its rear end, on the upper end of the tractor. a tilting member 14. Each tilting member 14 pivots on the rear cross member 15 of the traction frame 1.
The hydraulic cylinders 8 are controlled by the driver from a point near the seat, by means of a pressurized fluid supply system, regulated by a valve, and which is not shown in its entirety. but which comprises pipes 16 which leave the cylinders 8.
By simultaneously actuating the two cylinders 8, the traction cht-ssis can be placed in any desired position of the vertical adjustment.
.. The mechanism below is designed to limit tilting .. upwards of the traction frame 1 and to support the latter in its lowest position.
17 shows the drawbar of the tractor, comprising a fork 18, provided at the rear of the platform 9.
A boom 19 is fixed in the fork by means of a removable pin 20 and the lateral tilting of the drawbar 17 is avoided by a stop pin 21 which passes through the drawbar and the platform 9.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
At the rear of the fork 18, the boom 19 carries a pair of vertical plates 22, spaced longitudinally, and the rear crossmember 15 can move vertically between said plates.
The vertical plates 22 'are connected by sets of upper and lower bolts 23, vertically adjustable and the adjustment of these sets of bolts makes it possible to limit the downward and upward movement of the rear cross member to a predetermined value. and, consequently, of the whole traction frame 1. When the rear crossmember 15 rests on the lower bolt set 23, the hydraulic cylinders 8 are unloaded from the weight.
A longitudinal blade assembly, generally referred to as 24, is attached to each rear corner of the traction frame @ and extends forward of said frame. In this way, a blade assembly is available on each side of the tractor 2.
Since the blade assemblies are of identical construction and both serve the same functions, it will suffice to describe only one of these assemblies ,,
Each blade assembly 24. comprises a longitudinal beam 25, the rear end of which is fixed by means of a transverse pivot 26 to the lower end of a vertical axis 27 fixed in the outer end of an arm d. extension 28 which from pivot point 29 is arranged diagonally rearward and outward from the adjacent corner of traction frame 1.
This arrangement makes it possible to adjust the lateral tilting of the longitudinal beam 25 from a free or transport position when the beam is arranged alongside the tractor and parallel thereto, up to a working position where the beam extends forwards and outwards diverging from the tractor. The respective positions of the longitudinal beams 25, disposed on the opposite sides of the tractor, emerge from the pin 2. Further, due to the swivel joint 26, the longitudinal beam 25 can tilt vertically from a substantially horizontal position to a tilted forward and upward position, as shown in fig 1.
The adjustable longitudinal beam 25 is suspended in the following manner from the front of the tractor;
At the front the tractor is fitted with a vertical bent frame 30 and a cable 31 extends from an inverted L-shaped suspension arm 32 to the outer end of the beam; The cable extending upward and inward from the suspension arm to a direction change pulley 33 provided on the adjacent side of the arched frame 30.
From the direction change pulley 33, the cable 31 is directed towards the rear, along the tractor, and passes around another direction change pulley 34, provided on the upper end of an upright 35 s 'lifting from the corresponding corner of the traction frame 1.
From the pulley 34, the cable is directed inwards and passes over the drum of a winch 36, arranged at the rear of the tractor and controlled by the driver ,, '
A longitudinal blade 37 is disposed laterally inside and near the beam 25 and extends over the entire length of the latter: the cross section of said blade forms an arc and the blade itself is oriented towards the front. tractor.
The longitudinal blade 37 is connected to the beam 25 so that it can be tilted by means of several pivots 38 spaced apart lengthwise between the lower part of the rear side of the blade and the bottom of the beam 25. In addition, several adjustment members 39, spaced longitudinally, serve to connect the top of the beam 25 and the rear side of the top of the blade.
Using the arrangement described above it is possible
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
to place the blade 37 in any transverse angle or any desired working position.
For some types it is possible to use a hydraulic telescopic unit in place of the cable assembly described above.
To prevent longitudinal displacement of the blade assembly 24 relative to the tractor during use of the implement, the outer end of a crossmember 40 pivots on the corresponding end of the extension arm 28 and then extends diagonally forwards and inwards to be connected, as desired, to one of a pair of fixing lugs 41, spaced transversely and arranged on the rear cross member 15 of the frame - traction sis 1.
In certain positions with a large opening angle between the beam 25 and the blade 37 and in which the extension arm 28 is tilted a great amount forward, the cross member 40 is released from its position (fig. 2). ) and is raised between an ear 42, provided on the opposite side of the extension arm 28, and another ear 43, disposed between the ends of the adjacent lateral arm 3.
In cooperation with the rear end of the longitudinal blade 37, the tool is provided with a spreading wing 44 extending diagonally rearward and inward; said wing being mounted in the following manner: to allow tilting, the outer end of the spreading wing 44 pivots at 45 on the lower end of an upright 46.
the upright itself is attached to a link arm 47 which pivots at 48 on the adjacent end of extension arm 28 to allow horizontal tilting of the spreader wing.
The vertical adjustment of the spreading wing 44 around the pivot 45 is obtained by means of a suspension chain 49, of adjustable length and extending between the outer end of said spreading wing and the upper end. the amount. The horizontal adjustment of the spreading wing 44 is achieved by an adjustable traction chain 50 extending between the outer end of the spreading wing and the rear cross member 15.
At its outer end, the longitudinal blade 37 is equipped with an end wing 51, raised upwards, so as to prevent any overflow around the outer end of said blade.
When one of the blade assemblies 24 of the tool is used to clean and level a ditch edge, with the tractor moving along the top, said assembly is placed in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the longitudinal beam 25 and the blade 37 extending forwards and outwards, diverging from the direction of travel, and also tilting downwards in the ditch.
As the tractor moves forward, the blade 37 acts on the adjacent edge of the ditch to clean and level the latter; the soil removed rises up the blade and is finally unloaded at the end of the latter on the top of the edge and behind the tractor. As the tractor advances, the earth discharged on the top of the edge engages with the spreading wing 44 and is spread; beforehand said spreading wing is adjusted to the position appropriate for this work, both around its vertical axis and around its horizontal axis.
Since the longitudinal beam 25 is connected to the execution arm 28 for their relative movement around the transverse and vertical pivots with the cable suspension at the front end of said]; Or.- be, the blade can float freely and maintain proper contact with the edge of the ditch when advancing the tractor.
To draw irrigation control furrows or flower beds in a field, the beam 25 and the blade 37 extend forwards and outwards, diverging from the direction of travel, however they are placed substantially horizontal (fig. 4). To prevent the beam and blade from tilting inward, a removable cross member 52 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
connected at 53 between the suspension arm 32 and a support 54, fixed at 55, to the adjacent side of the curved frame 30.
When the blade is in this position, it works horizontally along the soil surface, notching relatively shallowly the soil and the removed soil rises rearward along the blade which unloads it on the path of the spreading wing 44; the latter then unloads the loose soil laterally and rejects it upwards so as to form a furrow or a flower bed at the rear of the moving tractor.
When the blade assemblies 24 are not in use, they are tilted inwardly into the transport position and lie along the adjacent sides of the tractor 2 extending longitudinally and substantially parallel to the direction of travel. (See the position of one of the blade assemblies on the left of fig. 2).
The invention describes a tool for working the land, a very efficient and practical tool for cleaning and leveling the edges of ditches, for laying out irrigation control furrows or flower beds in fields and for plotting. other earthworks falling within the scope of the tool. For example, the tool may be adapted so that it can be used for road maintenance, especially where roads have steeply sloping side edges and ditches which occasionally require cleaning.
The invention described in detail relates to a preferred construction of the tool, however in practice it is possible to make modifications to the execution details, as long as these modifications do not fall outside the e-sprit. of the invention as described and defined in the following claims
