TREUIL :
On décrira ci-après plus en détails un exemple d'exécution de l'in- vention en référence au dessin annexé, dans lequel : la figure 1 est une vue perspective d'un treuil construit et monté selon l'invention; la figure 2 est une vue en plan du bâti pour supporter le treuil;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

WINCH:
The invention relates to winches operated by a motive force and of the type in which the driving power is transmitted to a winding drum by means of a friction transmission which comprises a member whose axis of rotation is intended to be moved by a hand control for actuating the winch.
The object of the invention is to establish improvements applicable to winches of the general type described above, these improvements being designed to increase the use of the winch by allowing it to be mounted in a fixed or adjustable manner and also to provide the winch with safety devices and automatic devices preventing actuation beyond a certain limit.
According to the invention, a winch of the type indicated comprises a device for mounting it with the possibility of adjustment in direction around a vertical support, an arrow carried by said support and rotating with the winch in one block and a lifting mechanism. trigger to automatically stop winch operation when the load reaches a predetermined height.
According to one form of the invention, a winch of the type indicated above comprises a support frame? a cylindrical sleeve carried in this frame and intended to be pivotally mounted on a steel scaffolding element or the like, around which the winch can be moved, and an articulated boom on this frame and connected to the sleeve by a means for adjusting the degree of inclination of the boom.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention will be described in more detail below with reference to the appended drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a winch constructed and mounted according to the invention; Figure 2 is a plan view of the frame for supporting the winch;
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
FIG. 3 is a detail view showing the device used to adjust the position of the boom of the winch; Figure 4 is a fragmentary view of the hoist pulley yoke; Figure 5 is a fragmentary elevational view of the boom; Figure 6 is a detailed view of the device for stopping the operation of the winch when a load has reached a predetermined height; Figure 7 is a plan view of the device shown in Figure 6.
In the construction shown, the winch comprises a frame, shown in detail in Figure 2, on which is supported a driving element 1, advantageously an internal combustion engine (Figure 1), a three-speed transmission mechanism, a winding drum 2 and a friction wheel 3 for transmitting power to drum 2. The winding drum 2 is mounted in known manner in eccentric bearings to allow its axis of rotation to be moved and to bring the friction wheel 3 into engagement with an outer friction drive wheel 4 actuated by the drive element 1 or to separate it from this drive wheel.
The winding drum 2 and the friction wheel 3, which have the same axis and are mounted to rotate together, are normally maintained in the rest position by means of a counterweight lever 5, connected to the eccentric bearing of the drum d. winding and brought into actuation position by means of a hand lever 33.
The winch element described above can be used as a fixed device forming a winch, hauling device or lifting device, the support frame being anchored to a fixed base, but this support frame is also constructed to allow the winch to be used in other conditions. The support frame, which is advantageously constructed of metal tubes, is shown separately in FIG. 2 and comprises two crossbars 6 and 7 each connected at one end to a spar 8.
This in turn is connected to a third cross member 9 on which is mounted by means of a bracket 10 a cylindrical sleeve 11 which can be engaged on a steel scaffolding element in the form of a tubular post 12, as shown in Figure 1, or on any other cylindrical member capable of passing through the sleeve 11. The frames 6 and 7 support the winch passing through the side parts of the frame of the winch shown in Figure 1, the frame 6 being greater length to form a handle by which the winch can be moved laterally around its support.
In the sleeve 11 are inserted ball bearings to allow the frame and the winch to rotate 360 'to bring a boom connected to the frame 9 of the frame in the position suitable for use.
The boom has two arms 14 connected at their upper ends to cheeks 15 which support the bearings for the pulley 16 over which the cable 17 passes. The boom also has an upper arm 18, the upper end of which is hinged to the cheeks 15 and is capable of occupying three separate positions with respect to the sleeve 11. To ensure adjustment to any of the three positions, the boom arm 18 has a longitudinal slot towards its lower end. 19 (Figure 3), this slot having three notches 20 along its upper edge.
A clamping bolt 21 passes through tent 19 and engages one of the notches 20, with a handle 22 being provided to allow the binding to be loosened when the position of the boom needs to be adjusted. The rear end of the boom arm 18 is operated by a handle 23 by which, when the clamp bolt 21 is loosened, the boom arm can be moved to keep any of the notches 20 in engagement with the bolt. clamping 21, after which the handle 22 is actuated to lock the assembled parts in position.
The lower ends of the two arms 14 of the jib are articulated at 24 to the ends of the frame 9 of the support. The cable 17 is attached to the winding drum 2, passes over the pulley 16 at the head of the boom and also passes around a pulley 25 mounted in a yoke 26 from which hangs a lifting hook 27 and the end of the cable 17 is attached loosely
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
ble at a point 28 near the upper ends of the converging arms 14 of the boom.
This end of the cable 17 carries a hook 29 (see figure
4) which is attached to the cable and the shape of which includes an entry slot 30 in a vertical edge, this slot communicating with a vertical notch
31 oriented at right angles to the slot, For direct lifting, the hook 29 is intended to be attached to the head of the yoke 26, as shown in FIG. 4, the head of this yoke comprising a pin 22 extending transversely between its side plates. The axis 32 has diametrically opposed flats on its faces which come into contact with the walls of the notch 31 of the hook, so that the latter must be rotated by 90 to give it its operating position. This arrangement prevents accidental separation of the hook, even when the cable is loose.
When a double-stroke suspension is necessary, the hook 29 is engaged under the pulley in the screed 26 and is hooked to a cross member 28 provided between the lower arms 14 of the boom, this cross member having a shape similar to that already described for pin 32, in order to prevent accidental separation of the hook. The hook attachment which has been described above for the cable constitutes a safety device because, to pass the cable from the yoke 26 to the boom or vice versa, it is not necessary to disassemble and reassemble the devices. that secure the hook to the end of the cable.
The winch is constructed so that, when abandoned, @ the transmission to the winding drum is automatically disengaged, but a device is also provided by the invention for automatically disengaging the transmission if the load to be lifted reaches a distance. pre-determined of the arrow. The eccentric bearing which carries the shaft of the winding drum 2 is connected to the counterweight lever 5 which is lifted to put the winch into action.
This operation is carried out by means of the hand lever 33 which can be moved around a fixed axis 34 on which is also mounted a plate 35 having a pawl 48 mounted on this plate and able to rotate about an axis 43. The pawl 48 has a shoulder 37 which is intended to meet a stop 38 of the counterweight lever and is normally maintained in contact with this stop by the action of a spring 39.
The upper end of the pawl forms a hook 36 to which is attached a release cable 42. When the hand lever 33 is lowered, the meeting of the shoulder 37 with the stopper 38 raises the lever. counterweight 5 to rotate the eccentric bearing and bring the drum to the driving position, in which it remains as long as pressure is maintained on the hand lever 33.
If the load is lifted beyond the predetermined limit, a trigger arm 40 carried by the boom arms 14 pivots and, as part of an angled lever, its other arm 41 also pivots to exercise. a pull on the trigger cable 42, the other end of which is attached to the hook 36 of the pawl 48, which moves the shoulder 37 away from the stopper 38 and allows the counterweight lever 5 to fall, thus stopping the operation of the winch.
The trigger cable 42 passes under a pulley 45 mounted on the support frame 9, and from there terminates at its point of attachment with the pawl 48. The spring 39, the other end of which is fixed. at 47 to arm 33, returns the trigger mechanism to its normal position after the drop of the counterweight lever 5.
