PERFECTIONNEMENTS APPORTES AUX APPAREILS DE CHAUFFAGE ET DISTRIBUTION D'AIR,
DITS "AEROTHERMES".
Dans les appareils, jusqu'à présent proposés, les agencements de la source de chaleur et du faisceau, ainsi que les conditions des échanges thermiques sont tels que l'encombrement de l'appareil est important, notamment en hauteur ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Figo 1 est une vue en élévation, partie en coupe, d'un appareil aérotherme selon l'invention;
Fige 2 est unevue en plan, montrant, dans sa partie de gauche, une coupe selon A B fige 1, et, dans sa partie de droite, une coupe selon C D figo 1;
Figo 3 est une vue fragmentaire, en coupe, à 90 de la fig. 1;
Figo 4 montre, d'une manière analogue à la fig. 1, une autre réa- lisation, comportant également une disposition différente d'échangeur;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

IMPROVEMENTS TO HEATING AND AIR DISTRIBUTION APPLIANCES,
SAID "AEROTHERMES".
The invention relates to apparatuses for heating and distributing air known as "air heaters" o
Such devices are known and generally consist of a casing in the form of a column, in which are housed a heating device, such as a hearth, and a tube bundle in which circulate on the one hand the combustion products of the stove. fireplace and on the other hand the air to be heated, most often propelled by a mechanical means, such as a ventilator.
In the devices so far proposed, the arrangements of the heat source and of the bundle, as well as the heat exchange conditions, are such that the size of the device is important, in particular in height;
in addition to the accessibility and removal of the most exposed parts - focus and beam - are only relatively easy, and by the play of their dilations, these parts can influence the behavior of the apparatus.
The object of the invention is above all to remedy these drawbacks, and the object of an apparatus of the type defined, in which, according to one feature of the invention, an assembly made up of a heat source and a exchanger is arranged so that it can be easily inserted and removed from an enclosure, on or by which it is, or its elements are freely supported, so as to eliminate or at least reduce to a minimum the effects resulting from the dilations of these parts
According to another characteristic of the invention,
the exchanger is established so as to ensure a high degree of transmission to the air to be heated, in particular taking into account the paths that this air must travel through the appliance
In a preferred embodiment, the assembly of the heat source and the exchanger is engaged in and supported by the upper part of a column serving as a casing, which may be in one piece; another embodiment, the column by which said assembly is supported is formed of several ferrules which adapt to each other and are supported.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
carrying each other.
In the exchanger, the elements are equipped with members immersed in the fluid currents, which not only amplify the contacts with these fluids by increasing the exchanges, but also distribute and guide these currents in their paths through the device, by avoiding the drawbacks of changes in direction in the flow of these currents, inherent in said paths.
For the same useful effect, the size of the changer can thus be reduced and, all other things being equal, the dimensions of the device can be reduced by increasing its installation possibilities.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following description of certain embodiments, given by way of example, and illustrated by the appended schematic drawings, in which:
Figo 1 is an elevational view, partly in section, of an air heater device according to the invention;
Fig 2 is a plan view, showing, in its left part, a section along A B Fig 1, and, in its right part, a section along C D Figo 1;
Figo 3 is a fragmentary view, in section, at 90 of fig. 1;
Figo 4 shows, in a manner analogous to fig. 1, another embodiment, also comprising a different exchanger arrangement;
Fig. 5 is a plan view, in section along 5-5 of FIG. 4.
With reference to figs. 1 and 2, 1 designates an envelope, in the form of a column, of straight section in principle any, but rectangular in the example, having at its base an enlargement 2, and at its lower part a chamber 3, separate by a partition 4 provided with a central opening 5, and in communication with the ambient space by openings 6.
These openings 6 can be replaced by fittings on which are fitted conduits coming from the outside if the air to be heated is not taken in the room where the device is mounted.
In chamber 3 is mounted a fan 7 whose propeller occupies the opening 5.
At the top of column 1 are provided discharges 8 for the heated air, these discharges being able to be extended by conduits leading this air to a place of use other than the room in which the apparatus is installed.
In column 1 and its enlargement 2 is introduced a heat source-exchanger assembly, which comprises a heating chamber 9 containing any hearth, and a bundle of exchanger elements 10 surmounting chamber 9 and connected to that. -this.
As can be seen in figure 1, the transverse dimensions of the column 1 and of the widening 2 on the one hand, and of the bundle 10 and of the chamber 9 on the other hand, are such that the whole 9-10 can be engaged in the set 1-2 by the upper part of the column, and that once reached its operating position, there remains between the widening 2 and the chamber 9 as well as the lower part of the exchanger, a peripheral passage 11, while in portion 1 of the column, the remaining free space is extremely small and can be occupied by any removable gasket 12.
The assembly 9-10 is retained at the upper part of the column by a fixing ring 13, or by any other suitable means ensuring the free suspension of this assembly.
At the top of the column is disposed a cap 14 to which is connected a duct, not shown, discharging to a chimney the combustion products which have passed through the bundle 10.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
As stated above .. room 9 can contain any fireplace. E location. an oil-fired furnace arrangement has been illustrated comprising a burner 15 penetrating into the chamber 9 through an opening 16 sufficiently large to tolerate the expansions and contractions of the assembly 9-10, the burner 15, in its passage. of the space 11, being surrounded by a sleeve 17 fixed on the enlargement 2 and forming a tight seal against the wall of the chamber 9 thanks to a gasket 18 held in place by a ring or collar 190 Advantageously the bottom of the chamber 9 can be shaped as a pyramid
The bundle is made up of tubes 20 open at their lower end towards the chamber 9 and at their upper end towards the cap 14.
Between the tubes 20 can circulate 1-air propelled by the fan 7 ascending the space 11, then the bundle 10 to exit through the discharge 80
It can be seen in FIG. 1 that by traveling such a path, the air is forced to change direction several times, in particular when entering the beam, at 21, and at the exit of the beam, at 220
The tubes 20 are lined with members projecting on their inner and outer faces and immersed in the fluids which bathe these faces.
In this way, it is possible to extract hot fluid and transmit to the fluid to be heated an additional amount of heat and all other things being equal, to reduce the size and dimensions of the heat source 9, the bundle 10 and finally from the device
The gain thus achieved will be all the greater as the flow of fluids will be less disturbed, that is to say will be harmonized with the paths that these fluids have to travel through the device.
To achieve this aim, the principles and arrangements more especially described in a patent application of the same date from the applicant for: "Improvements to heat exchangers" and consisting of immersed members, in particular in shape, can be used with advantage. fins or ailerons, oriented in the general direction of flow of the fluid where the fluid actually follows that direction, while in places or areas where the fluid must change its direction of flow relative to in this general direction, oriented guides are planned in accordance with the required change of direction
Furthermore, because of these arrangements and the resulting absence of disturbances, it is possible, in certain areas in contact with the hottest portions of the hottest fluid,
eliminating the parts immersed in this fluid, with the advantage of considerably increasing the service life of the exchanger elements
Figures 1 and 2 show that in areas such as 21 and 22, the outer faces of tubes 20 are provided with guide fins 23 of orientation harmonized with the changes in direction of the air stream in these areas. , while between these areas, said faces are provided with fins 24 oriented in the general direction, vertical .. flow.
Internally, the tubes are devoid of plunging members or fins in the portion of the tubes adjacent to chamber 9, and equipped with fins 25 oriented vertically over the remaining portion of their length.
Also with a view to ensuring harmonization in the flow of fluids, in particular air, guide members, not shown, can be associated with the internal walls of the enlargement 2, in space 11, without compromising the ease of assembly and disassembly of the device.
Instead of the tubes shown in the example, the elements of the exchanger could be constituted by assembled plates forming tubes or passages, as described in the aforementioned patent application.
In order to protect the lower end of the tubes from too intense calorific actions, they can be fitted with a protective lining, \)
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
advantageously in refractory, as shown at 26 in FIG. 3.
In the arrangement described, the chamber 9 with its burner 15 is arranged and fixed to the lower end of the bundle 10, and the fan 7 is mounted under said chamber. shine It will be understood that the fan and burner could be interchanged, or the locations of the fan and the burner could be interchanged, or else these components could be occupied by other locations than those illustrated in the case where one or other of these alternative arrangements would be more favorable to meet specific local conditions. It could likewise be necessary to reverse the relative positions of the bundle of exchanger elements and of the combustion chamber, the latter being mounted at the upper part, freely suspended from column 1, those arranged at the lower part, hanging from the bedroom.
Again, the chamber mounted at the top of the column could rest on the column and the beam be suspended from that column.
In the arrangement of Figures 4 and 5, the chamber 9 is transversely more developed and preferably of circular cross section, the bundle 10 receiving on the whole a quadrangular cross section.
As before, part 1 of the column adapts to the periphery of the bundle 10 and the widening 2 which, in cross section presented the shape of the chamber 9, leaves it between itself and this chamber -'- 9 not a peripheral saga 11, but parts 1 and 2 are made up of distinct parts, adapting to each other, and, if necessary, connected to each other as described above. see in 26.
Under these conditions, the chamber 9 - bundle 10 assembly is engaged by the bundle 10 in part 1 and connected to this part as in 13, then this assembly is placed over part 2 and possibly connected to it, or else the assembly The chamber 9 - bundle 10 assembly is engaged and temporarily supported in part 2, after which part 1 is put in place and assembly 9-10 connected to it as in 13.
As previously, guide members, not shown, can be associated with the internal wall of the enlargement 2. Alternatively, such members could be mounted on the external peripheral face of the chamber 9.
The remainder of the arrangement is similar to what has been described, except that the bundle 10 is made as follows, or in a similar manner.
Plates 27, provided with edges 28 and 29 projecting on their opposite faces, are joined together, either by edge-to-edge welding of the aforementioned edges, or by flanges that these edges include as illustrated, thus saving passages 30 and 31 for the gaseous combustion products from the chamber 9 and the air to be heated, respectively. In the rims 28 are formed cutouts 32 allowing the entry and exit of air in the bundle 10, respectively at its vessel and at its top, and in the corresponding zones of the plates 27, the faces facing the passages. ges 31 are provided with guides 23, while in the intermediate extent of these faces, these are equipped with fins 24 oriented in the vertical direction.
On the faces of the plates facing the passages 30, these plates are equipped with fins oriented in the vertical direction, these fins preferably being omitted in the lower portion of the passages 30 adjacent to the chamber 9.
Instead of ailerons and guides being provided on each of the plates, they could as well equip only one plate in two, this modification and the variants of the same kind obviously coming within the limits of the invention.
As another variant of the arrangement according to FIGS. 4 and 5, the air to be heated could be introduced tangentially into the peripheral passage 11, the guides possibly provided on the internal face of the widening 2 or the external face of the chamber 9, being suitably organized for this purpose. .
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In addition and naturally., For all the arrangements described, and their variants, the arrangement of the cold air intakes and the heated air discharges may vary according to the particular conditions to be satisfied.
