PERFECTIONNEMENTS APPORTES AUX:EJECTEURS POUR DES MACHINES ENTETEUSES OU
ANALOGUES.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

IMPROVEMENTS PROVIDED TO: EJECTORS FOR MACHINERY MACHINES OR
ANALOGUES.
The present invention relates to machines of the type of those in which a work, generally consisting of a piece of wire or rod, is introduced into a die, its internal end being in contact with the tip of an ejector finger then that its outer end protrudes from the die so that a header or other operation can be performed while the work is prevented from moving axially by said ejector finger, means being provided for moving the finger axially up to '' that its outer end occupies a defined and predetermined position to eject the work after the desired operation has taken place
For a machine of this kind it is sometimes important that the outer end of the ejector finger.,
when it moves outwards, generally does not protrude from the end of the die as it is customary to provide tool holders for the work which slide across this end of the die. the matrix. In addition, works of very different lengths can be processed in the machine and it is therefore necessary to be able to adjust the ejector control mechanism so that the internal position of the outer end of the finger The ejector can be set at the correct distance from the end of the die to come into contact with the work and to support the work during header or other machining operations.
Below is indicated the adjustment of the internal position of the end of the ejector finger to adapt it to the length of the work by a fit "and that for moving this finger axially until its extremity. external moth arrives at the end of the die by maneuver
Hitherto it has been customary for machines of the type in question to provide two separate controls, one of which is used for adjusting the adjustment position and the other for adjusting the amplitude of the displacement of the member. which actuates the ejector finger and it has been observed in practice that it was difficult to obtain operators who make these two adjustments correctly.
As a result, in some cases the control member is adjusted so that its displacement is greater than necessary, hence a dead travel takes place in the mechanism. This dead travel produces unwanted noise and wear of the components' as well as momentary important accelerations for certain parts of the mechanism.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The object of the present invention is, above all, to overcome these difficulties and to obtain uniform and smooth acceleration and deceleration for the movement of the ejector finger for each active stroke.
It is customary, in most machines, to use an ejector finger which slides in the die and an ejector finger, established in Malignment of the preceding finger to activate this one. However, these fingers are hereinafter considered to be in one piece which will be referred to as the "ejector finger".
The invention consists mainly in effecting the adjustment position and the corresponding adjustment of the amplitude of the displacement of the ejector finger by actuating a single adjustment member which acts on the adjustment and control members. maneuver connected to an articulated assembly actuated by a mechanically driven control member.
It also consists in having recourse to a single member to regulate the adjustment and operating means for the ejector finger, these means comprising separate adjustment and operating levers, articulated to a common axis, these levers being specific to move together without being able to move relative to each other when the mechanism is adjusted, the operating lever making an oscillating movement independently of the adjustment lever when this operating lever moves the ejector finger and when it makes its return stroke, the levers being connected by an articulated assembly a link of which is articulated to the operating lever while being in contact with a control lever oscillating with a curvilinear active surface and which, before its active stroke,
is concentric with the center at which the operating and adjustment levers are articulated, the adjustment having the effect of varying the distance between the pivot of the control lever and the point of contact between the link connected to the operating lever and the active surface of the control lever so that the amplitude of the movement transmitted to the operating lever by the control lever varies automatically to suit the adjustment position of the operating and adjustment levers.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Figures 1 and 2 show, respectively in longitudinal section and in cross section according to 2-2 Figure 1, an ejector mechanism established in accordance with the invention.
The mechanism, as shown, comprises a frame formed by the parts 10 11, 12, 13 14 and 15 which are interconnected by means not shown.
The parts 10 and 14 form guides for the ejector finger 16 which can slide between these parts in a reciprocating movement. This finger carries a collar 17 on which acts a spring 18 which bears on the bottom of a notch 19 formed in the part and which serves to return the ejector finger to its initial position.
In the part 14 is formed a cylindrical passage 20 in which is engaged the work and out of which it is expelled by the finger 16
The part 12 of the frame comprises a threaded hole 21 in which can be screwed a threaded sleeve 22 with an end 23 other than circular so that it can be rotated to adjust its axial position, this sleeve 22 being coaxial with the finger 16. In addition, the end of the sleeve 22 carries a flange 24 and contains a socket 25 which serves to guide one end of the finger 16. In addition, the end of the sleeve 22 has a flange 24 and it contains a sleeve 25 which serves to guide one end of the finger 16
Part 11 of the frame comprises two spaced ears 26 carrying a pivot 27 to which the adjustment and operating levers are articulated.
The adjustment lever is constituted by an angled lever with a primary arm 28 and a secondary arm 29. The arm 28 is terminated by a fork 30 overlapping the ejector finger 16 and carrying a boss 31 in contact with a face of the collar. 17. The opposite face 32 of the end of the arm 28 is flat.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The adjustment lever comprises two spaced parts 33 having cha- ou.ne the form of an angled lever, these parts being articulated to the pivot 27 and being established on either side of the operating lever. The adjustment lever comprises two primary arms 34 placed one beside the other and between which is interposed a block 35. The arm 34 is terminated by a fork 36 of which one branch 37 is flat. by being in contact with the face. plane 32 of the operating lever while the other face 38 of the fork has a curvilinear shape and is in contact with the end of the sleeve 25 and the flange 24 of the threaded sleeve 22 The adjustment lever comprises a secondary arm daire 39 formed in two spaced parts.
The arms 29 and 39 of the maneuvering and adjustment levers carry pivots 40 and 41. On the pivot 41 is articulated a control rod 42 consisting of two parts placed side by side, this rod being parallel to the secondary arm 39 adjustment lever.
The articulated assembly also comprises a link 43 mounted on the pivot 40 and on a pivot 44 carried by the two parts of the control link 42 The link 43 is parallel to the secondary arm 29 of the operating lever.
The control rod 42 is extended beyond the pivot 44 and it carries a roller 45 freely engaged on a pivot 46 carried by the two parts of this rod. This is extended at its other end 47 and carries a rod 48 to which are attached three tension springs 49 The end of one of these springs 49 is attached to the rod 48 between the two parts of the rod 42 while the ends of the other two springs 49 are engaged on the parts of the rod 48 which protrude from the aforesaid two parts.
The part 13 of the frame carries two ears 50, oriented upwards, the upper part of each ear carries a tab 51. Each of these tabs is articulated, by pivots 52, a control lever 53 mu- ni of ' a curvilinear boss 54 in contact with the roller 45 The boss 54 before the active stroke of the operating lever is concentric with the axis of the pivot 27 One face of the control lever 53 carries an arm 55 which is in contact with a pivots 52 or comprises this pivot and the end of which is terminated by a fork 56 carrying a pivot on which is freely engaged a roller 57 which cooperates with a control cam 58 mounted on a drive shaft 59. L ' other face of the control lever carries an arm 69 which carries the other pivot 52 or is in contact with the latter.
The roller 57 is kept in contact with the cam by the springs 60. The control lever 53 carries two spaced lugs 61 which carry a pivot 62 to which are articulated three rods 63 urged by springs. Each rod 63 can slide in a tube 64 provided with a collar 65 and a finger 66 housed in a block 67 fixed to the internal face of the frame. The springs 60 are interposed between the flanges 65 and the collars 68 of the rods 63 to urge the lever elastically in the indirect direction and with respect to FIG. 1 while the roller is in contact with the cam.
This includes a plateau on about half of its contour or half of a revolution during which the ejector finger is fixed and its boss is such that one obtains a uniform acceleration and, a deceleration and smooth for the movement of the ejector finger for each of its active strokes.
The lower ends of the springs 49 are hooked to a rod 70 carried by the ears 51
The adjustment lever 34, 39 can be adjusted by rotating the sleeve 22 with the aid of its non-circular part 23 and this adjustment changes the position of the outer end of the ejector finger 16 at the end of its travel towards the end. inside. This adjustment is transmitted to the operating lever 28, 29 for the reason that the two surfaces 32 and 37 are in contact during the adjustment. Each adjustment produces a corresponding effect on the amplitude of the displacement of the lever arm 28 so that the outer end of finger 16 advances to the desired position for each operation. In addition, any backstop is eliminated and the above-mentioned drawbacks are avoided.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Further, the adjustments cause the roller 45 to move along the boss 54 to increase or decrease its distance from the axis of the pivots 52. When the roller 45 moves towards said axis, the amplitude of movement of the lever arm 28 decreases in accordance with the adjustment which has taken place.
