<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
figure 3.
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
sur la butée 20.
@

A positive motor fluid distributor for the automatic operation of hydraulic or pneumatic controls.
The object of the present invention is a device for distributing working fluid to ensure the automatic operation of the hydraulic or pneumatic controls of all machines with reciprocating movement of translation, rotation, translation and rotation combined, in particular machine tools.
There are distributing devices having the same objective which comprise balancing pistons, compensators and shock absorbers and are very complicated, of delicate and expensive manufacture.
The device according to the present invention avoids these drawbacks; it is simple and precise and enables the operation of the controlled mechanism to be made fully automatic. and, by virtue of its simplicity, the use of servomotors can be generalized to many applications with a view to more intensive work, while making it here easier and faster.
The dispensing device according to the invention consists essentially of a movable dispenser member, such as a conical plug, rotary piston, combination of
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
discs or the like, interposed on the driving fluid conduits between the pump and the servomotor in such a way that at each of its stroke ends, adjustable as required, the latter reacts by means of appropriate members on said distributor to move it to a position which, at will, depending on the location previously assigned to an operating lever, either reverses the movement of the servomotor or stops it at the end of the operating cycle.
Adjustment means make it possible to determine the moment of each stroke when, by means of the organs intended for this, the servomotor reacts on the distributor according to the invention, so as to limit at leisure the movement of the servomotor in each direction and to trigger at the desired time either the reversal or the stop at the end of the operating cycle.
The distributor according to the invention finally has maneuvering members by means of which the servomotor can be adjusted at will either so that it ensures a continuous succession of working periods of the controlled machine, or so that it stops the latter. after each work cycle, either to reverse the direction of travel or stop the machine at any time during a work period.
In order to better understand the subject of the invention and to bring out more clearly other features, we will describe below, by way of example, and with reference to the accompanying drawing, a preferred embodiment thereof. this.
Fig. 1 represents the dispensing device itself.
Fig. 2 shows schematically the various pipe connections leading to the rotary distributor.
Fig. 3 represents the assembly of a hydraulic control in which a distributor device according to the invention is fitted.
The device according to the invention consists essentially
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
tiellement in a movable element 1, having the shape of a cylindrical plug in which are hollowed out two openings 3, 4 and a passage 10. The element 1 pivots in the chamber 2 which carries a number of slots 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13; properly connected with the supply and exhaust lines of the working fluid.
At one of its ends, the element 1 ends with a rod on which the lever 14 is fixed so that it can swing by a certain amplitude around the axis XX 'perpendicular to the axis of element 1. Lever 14 carries two lugs 15 and 16 at the same time as a cam 19 and a lever 17.
A connecting rod 21 pivots about an axis 22 and is subjected to the action of a return spring 23 which tends to make it occupy an extreme position to the left or to the right. The connecting rod 21 is conditioned so that one of its ends is on the path of cams 24 and 25 which move integrally with the toothed wheel 26 actuated by the rack 27. integral itself by appropriate linkages or similar members. - layers with the piston 28 of the servomotor.
The distributor 1 is inserted on the circuit shown in FIG. 3 in which we recognize the fluid reservoir 31, the compression pump 32, the supply line 33 on which is a flow regulator 37; a pipe 35 serves for the escape of the working fluid from the distributor 1 to the reservoir 31. Between the distributor 1 and the servomotor are arranged two pipes 34 and 36 which serve alternately for the supply and the exhaust according to the direction of movement of the piston of the servomotor, the latter comprising the two chambers 29 and 30, which communicate respectively with the conduits 34 and 36.
Line 33, on arrival at distributor 1, is connected to lights 8, 9 and 13 and line 35 is connected to lights 7, 11 and 12; line 34 is connected to port 6 and line 36 to port 5. This situation corresponds to the movement of the piston from right to left on the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
figure 3.
The rack 27 driving the toothed wheel 26, actuates the cams 24 and 25, the position of which is adjusted so that at the desired moment the cam 24 comes into contact with the connecting rod 21 and gives it a pivoting movement which has the effect of increase the tension of the spring 23 until the moment when the connecting rod 21 will have crossed the point of unstable equilibrium, after which, obeying the biasing of the spring 23, this connecting rod is attracted towards its extreme position opposite to that which it has just obtained to leave; in this case it comes into contact with the lug 16 of the lever 14, drives the latter, and thus rotates the element 1 so that ultimately, the element 1, the lever 14 and the handle 17 will occupy the position corresponding to that indicated for the latter by the letter 0 in figure 1.
As a result of this movement, the lights 3 and 4 interrupt the continuity which existed respectively between the lights 13 and 6, and 2 and 7; on the other hand, continuity is established respectively between 6 and 12 and between and 8. The motor fluid now reaches the chamber 30 of the servomotor while the chamber 29 communicates with the exhaust pipes of the motor fluid. The piston therefore moves from 30 to 29 until the moment when the rack 27 driving the toothed wheel 26 will cause the cam 25 to act on the connecting rod 21, which will switch under the action of the return spring 23 to its extreme position, opposite to the one she has just left.
In its movement, by pressing on the lug 15, it causes the lever 14 and the element 1 to move, at the same time as the lever 17. According to the invention, it is possible to determine beforehand, the amplitude of this. return movement, so that at the end of this stroke the movement stops or starts again following the same cycle indefinitely. If the lever 17 stops in the position marked in fig. 1, the movement will continue; if the lever 17 reaches the! position, the motor device will stop.
In fact, for the position A of the lever 17, the element 1 would be located in such a way that there would be con- @
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
tinuity between the pipes 2, 10 and 11 so that the pipes 33 and would be short-circuited, the slots 3 and 4 being moreover separated from the pipes and 6.
According to the invention, the interruption of the cycle or its continuation can be predetermined at will. The lever 17 is integral with a cam 19 which can pivot around an axis located near the lug 15. A spring 27 attracts the cam 19 towards the center of the element 1 and therefore retains this cam 19 in the position shown in pintille in FIG. 1, which corresponds to the position B 'of the lever 17. In this position, when, under the action of the spring, the connecting rod 21 pushes the lever 14 and the lever 17 back from its position 0, said lever 17 will only stop when it has reached position A, which is that which determines the stopping of the motor device.
In order to restart the latter, it suffices to return the lever 17 to its position B, to which corresponds the connection of the slots in the element 1, which causes the movement of the motor piston in the direction 29-30, and the cycle will start again and stop again at the end of it, handle 17 then occupying position A.
Let us now see how we can induce continuity of movement. This is where cam 19 comes in.
When the lever 17 is moved from its position A to the position B, at the same time the cam 19 is forced to pivot, until it bears against a stop 20, which neutralizes the stress on the springs 23 and 37 .
If one wants to cause the continuity of the operation of the device, it suffices to block the lever 17 in its position B and for this, to press on the rod 18 so as to make the end 38, which slides, penetrate into the body of the lever 14. in the arm of the lever, which will have the effect of neutralizing the biasing of the spring 37 and ensuring. the cam 19, at each end of travel of the lever from towards A, its stop in a position which corresponds to the location of. the handle at B, given that then the cam 19 is supported
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
on the stop 20.
@
Whatever the position of the lever 17, whether the latter is adjusted so that the movement ceases after each cycle or that it continues from cycle to cycle without stopping, it is according to the invention possible at any time, whatever the position of the cams 24 and 25, to stop or reverse the direction of travel of the motor device.
In fact, if the lever 17 is pressed so as to cause the lever 14 to swing around its axis X-X ', the lugs 15 and 16 are allowed to slip out under the lever 21 without encountering the latter. ; by means of this maneuver, the lever 17 can therefore always be brought back either to position A which corresponds to the short-circuit of the motor device and to the instantaneous stopping of the latter, or to position C which corresponds to instantaneous reversal of the direction. of the movement of the servo motor, and vice versa respectively.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the only forms described above by way of example, but it also encompasses all other equivalent embodiments based on the same principle and which differ from it only by constructive modifications or by the substitution. one or more organs by others performing the same function.
