  POUTRE METALLIQUE LEGERE

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  LIGHT METAL BEAM
The present invention relates to lightweight metal beams, constructed in such a way that building materials such as panels, floors, etc., can be nailed or screwed directly thereto as in a wooden beam.

   To this end, in accordance with the invention, these metal beams are made of one or more sheets folded and profiled so as to present at the places intended to receive the nails or aim a slot of which at least one edge forms a re-entrant lip. with a sharp edge to engage with the thread of the screws or the roughness of the nails. Preferably, the slot has two of these re-entrant lips, but only one is sufficient to retain the screws or nails in the slot, the other edge thereof being able to be formed by a fold in the sheet.

   The possibility of nailing or screwing directly into the metal beams the coverings, floors, etc ... constitutes a great advantage in allowing to do away with the special assemblies which were necessary until now, and to build quickly and efficiently. low cost of metal frame constructions, especially prefabricated buildings.,
In order for the invention to be fully understood, embodiments of the invention will be described below which are shown by way of example in the appended drawing, in which:
Figo 1 shows in cross section a metal beam provided with a nailed covering and a screwed covering, and Figso 2 and 3 show two variants.

   The I-beam shown in Figo 1 is made of two sheets 1, 2 folded and symmetrically profiled, which are assembled by welding, riveting, bolting or in any other suitable way, so as to leave in the middle of each of the tables of the I a slot 3 delimited by two retracting lips 4, 5 with sharp edges, which are formed by the edges of the sheets 1, 2.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   On one side of the beam is nailed a covering 6, for example wood, by means of nails 7 hammered into the slot 3, between the lips 4, 5 which firmly clamp the nails together while biting by their sharp edges the notches 8 which the nails are advantageously provided.

   Another coating 9, for example fiber cement, is fixed on the opposite side of the beam by screws 10 screwed into the slot 3 'and retained by the lips 4', 5 'attacking the thread of the screws.

   This metal beam can be used both as a floor joist and as a wall stud in building construction.

   In the variant according to FIG. 2, the beam has only one slot 13 for nailing nails 17 and this slot has only a sharp-edged re-entrant lip 14 formed by the edge of a folded sheet 12, welded or otherwise attached to a another sheet 11 bent in L, which constitutes the core and a wing of the beam. The other edge of the slot, facing the lip 14, is formed by a fold of the sheet 11 which is folded in 11 'symmetrically to the lip 14 but outwards, the nail 17 being guided opposite the lip 14 along the ballot box flat part of the sheet 11.

   The beam according to the second variant according to FIG. 3 is made of three sheets, one of which 21, thicker, is C-shaped, and the other two 22 and 32 are attached to the back of the C, their free edges each forming a re-entrant lip 24, 34 of a side of the slots 23, 33 which are provided at the two tables of the beam and whose edge facing the lip is formed by the folds 21 ', 21 "of the sheet 21. The nail 27 and the screw 30 are held between the lips 24, 34 on the one hand and the flat part of the sheet 21 on the other hand.

   Obviously, other embodiments of the invention are possible without departing from its scope.
