<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La présente presse est essentiellement caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend : une pluralité de presses élémen- taires disposées en étoile sur un support rotatif, tournant autour d'un axe horizontal, sur lequel elles sont montées de manière à être entraînées dans un mouvement de révolution et à pouvoir se déplacer dans le sens de la profondeur, c'est-à-dire dans une direction parallèle à l'axe de rotation ; un dispositif peut entraîner la bande de tôle à ouvrager suivant un trajet comportant une partie courbe concentrique audit axe de rotation, avec, dans cette partie courbe, une vitesse angulaire égale à celle de l'ensemble support-presses élémentaires ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Multiple press, rotary, for cutting, stamping, bending.
The present invention relates to a new press for all cutting, stamping, bending work, to be carried out starting from a continuous sheet metal strip, which has been specially designed so as to have an incomparably higher output than presses. currently in use for such work.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present press is essentially characterized in that it comprises: a plurality of elementary presses arranged in a star shape on a rotary support, rotating about a horizontal axis, on which they are mounted so as to be driven in a movement of revolution and to be able to move in the direction of depth, that is to say in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation; a device can drive the strip of sheet metal to be worked along a path comprising a curved part concentric with said axis of rotation, with, in this curved part, an angular speed equal to that of the elementary support-press assembly;
a device for guiding and controlling the elementary presses in depth, adapted so that at any time a determined number of these presses are in the same vertical plane, with their tables in correspondence with the curved part of the sheet metal strip, while that the other presses are outside the path of this belt; and a device for actuating the tools of each elementary press during its passage in the aforementioned vertical plane.
Of course each elementary press can be of any desired type established for the desired kind of work: die-cutter, stamping press, stamping and stamping press; cutting and bending press, etc.,
In a currently preferred but non-limiting embodiment, the invention can also be characterized, in particular, by all or some of the following points:
a) The table top of each elementary press has the shape of a cylindrical surface portion
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
concentric with the axis of rotation and the sheet metal strip is applied, by a tension effect, to the tables of the elementary presses located in the operating zone, that is to say in the vertical plane above. indicated, so as to be dragged, by friction, by these tables themselves to the point where it leaves them. b) The frame of each elementary press is provided with a roller, with a vertical axis, engaged with those of the other presses in a fixed cam, with a profile groove determined by which the in-depth movements of each elementary press are caused.
c) One or more fixed cams are provided in the operating zone to determine, by reaction on corresponding rollers linked to the tools of each elementary press, the movements of these tools, possibly in combination with return springs.
Other characteristics of the invention will become apparent in the course of this memory.
Figs, 1 and 2 show, by way of example, an embodiment of the press, object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view.
Fig. 2, a cross-section on a larger scale taken along the line 11-11 of FIG. 1.
Figs. 3 and 4 show, respectively in profile view and front view in section, an example of an elementary press which can be mounted on the press, object of the invention.
Fig. 5 shows, in front view, another example of an elementary press which can be mounted on the press, object of the invention.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The rod 6 is a side view of an elementary double-acting press, which can also be mounted on the press, object of the invention.
Fig. 7 is an elevational view showing the pairing of two presses according to the invention.
Figs. 8 and 9 show, in plan, two examples of the cuts which can be made in a strip of sheet metal by means of twin presses.
In the embodiment shown in figs. 1 and 2, the machine comprises a frame 1 which, with the aid of a removable bearing 2, supports a horizontal shaft 3, driven in rotation, for example by a gear train 4 and 5 drawing its movement from. a pulley 6.
On a bearing surface 3a of 1 * shaft 3 is wedged a plate 7 which has, on one side, bosses 8, arranged at regular intervals, between which are arranged radially the elementary presses ,, for example sixteen in number, designated by p1 to P16 ,.
Each elementary press box is wedged and can slide on a central hub 9, driven by the shaft 3 by means of the keys 10. For this purpose, each frame b can include a heel 11 embedded in a longitudinal groove 12 of said hub, in which he can move. b
On the other hand, each elementary press frame is flanked, on each side, by a bar or slide 13, movable in a groove 14 of the corresponding boss, 8, of the plate 7. The slides 13 are held in the grooves 14. by an advanced edge 15a of a ring 15 fixed to the periphery of the plate 7.
On each slide formed by the two bars 13 is mounted a roller 16 with a vertical axis, which roller is +
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
engaged in the groove 17 of a cam 18, fixed in the frame 1 in any suitable manner, the groove 17 being intended to react on the rollers 16 so as to make it move in depth, that is to say in one direction parallel to the axis of the shaft 3, each frame b, under conditions which will be specified later.
The table t of each elementary press is shaped so that its top forms a portion of cylindrical surface concentric with the axis of the machine, and the groove 17 is shaped so that at any time a certain number of elementary presses (in the present example the seven presses P1 to P7) are located in the same vertical plane (XX in fig. 2), so that at this moment the tops of the tables t of these presses form an almost continuous cylindrical spindle on which is applied with pressure the strip of strip to be worked F, so that this strip is driven by the rotation of these tables up to the point where it leaves them, which is the case at the place where the press P7 is located in fig. 2.
Said strip F, which is supplied by a reel (not shown in fig. 2 but indicated at Bd in fig. 7), passes for example between two rollers 19 mounted on a support at the base of the machine, bypasses the tables t of the seven presses P1 to PY located in the aforementioned vertical plane XX, then descends and passes between two other rollers 19 ', after which it exits outside the machine where a winding device is provided for friction, for example of the known type, / ensuring the belt at a constant linear speed. The resistance offered by the coil Bd is generally sufficient to ensure a suitable tension of the strip F. If this were not the case, one could provide adjustable braking means acting on this coil, or on the rollers 19.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
However, this is generally superfluous because, in most cases, the tools of at least one of the elementary presses are at all times engaged with the belt F, so that the latter is advanced not only by its friction engagement with tables 5 but also by the grip that the tools exert on it.
The groove 17 of the cam 18 is shaped, on the other hand, so that once any elementary press has passed, around its revolving movement, in the aforementioned vertical plane XX which constitutes the operating zone, it moves back with respect to said plane, so as to clear the path of the strip F. Thus, as in the present example, all the presses, apart from the seven presses P1 to P7 located in the plane operating vertical XX, can be in the same vertical plane behind the previous one (YY in fig.
2).
Apart from what has been said about the table and the guiding system of elementary presses, these can be of any type appropriate to the kind of work to be performed: cutting, die-cutting and stamping, stamping and stamping, etc. and include, in themselves, one or more tools.
It is thus possible, for example, to mount on the machine cutting and stamping presses of the type shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 where 2 designates the cutting tool, p the punch, f the blank press, e the ejector. In this case, the cutting tool is integral with a slider cl, the head of which carries two rollers with a horizontal axis 20 and 21.
Two fixed cams 23, and 23
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
mounted in an abanoée of the frame 1.are adapted to, respectively, cause the descent then the gradual rise of the cutting tool e, during the portion of the trajectory, of each press, included in the frontal vertical plane (left of fig. 2) by reacting respectively on the roller 20 and the roller 21, things being established, of course, so that the work is finished and the part ejected when the elementary press considered arrives at the end of this portion of path. At this point, all appropriate means are provided, for example a receiving chute, for the evacuation of the finished parts.
It is also possible, for example, to mount on the machine elementary cutting and stamping presses of the type of FIG. 5 in which the head of the cutting tool is articulated with a lever 1, pivoting on the frame b and terminated by a roller 24. In this case, a cam 25 can be provided with two flanks, one serving at the descent the other to the ascent.
It is also possible, still by way of example, to mount on the machine elementary double-acting presses, of the type shown in fig. 6. In this case, the slide c1, cutting tool holder, is provided with two rollers 26 on which react two identical cams 27, while the punch holder slide p1 is provided with a roller 28 on which reacts a cam 29, the case-hardening of both being provided by springs.
The present multiple press, in addition to its high throughput, also offers the advantage of being able to be grouped in series with others of the same type, that is to say that it is possible to feed several juxtaposed multiple presses.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
with the same strip of strip F circulating continuously, so as to use the maximum of the surface of the strip.
This is how it is possible, for example, as shown in FIG. 7, use two twin presses fed by a strip of strip F which unwinds from a coil Bd and winds up on a coil Be, the latter controlled positively by friction, so that the linear speed of the strip does not vary , notwithstanding the variations in diameter of said coil.
In the case where the elementary presses mounted on these two multiple presses each perform a single cut, it is possible, by suitably determining the spacing of the axes of the two machines, to obtain that the cuts d2 made by the second, are inserted between the deo or - pes d1 performed by the first (see fig 8).
E employing as elementary presses, presses with several tools, for example three, it is possible to obtain, by pairing two multiple presses, cutouts d1 and d2 (fig. 9) interlocking with one another.
It goes without saying that the invention cannot be limited to the embodiment shown and described, of which it all encompasses / the variants resulting from the application of the same principles of establishment.
