<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Construction material, in particular for coatings and its manufacturing process".
The present invention relates to a construction material, in particular for coverings, usable for example for tiles, tiles, slates, etc.
Its aim is to produce a material of this type which, while having excellent resistance, can be easily obtained with perfect shine on the visible face.
To this end, the material according to the invention essentially contains magnesite, a carrier agent preferably consisting of magnesium chloride dissolved in water, and optionally a dye.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention, the carrier agent is a mixture of water and a high proportion of magnesium chloride.
The present invention also relates to a method of manufacturing the aforesaid material, which makes it possible to obtain a perfect gloss and a resistance comparable to that of earthenware with a minimum of operations, by eliminating the firing and by carrying out a simple casting with cold. This saves labor and fuel and reduces the risk of accidents.
To this end, according to the invention, the aforementioned ingredients are mixed so as to form a kind of mortar and the latter is brought into contact with a plate either of glass, or of ice, or of polished metal, or of analogous material, until setting has occurred.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a material in accordance with the invention and of its manufacturing process, a description given below by way of non-limiting example.
The material is mainly based on magnesite. To the latter is added a suitable amount of a carrier agent, consisting of magnesium chloride dissolved in the eu. The degree of dilution is chosen according to the thickness and nature of the coating and taking into account its absorption power. In general, a mixture of water and a high proportion of magnesium chloride is used.
It is generally necessary to provide a dye.
The various ingredients are mixed to make a sort of mortar. For covering tiles and the like, a sole made of material, sufficiently hard, such as cardboard, asbestos, stone, cement, concrete, wood, brick, etc. is provided.
The shine is given by placing the aforesaid mortar in contact with a plate of glass, ice, polished metal or the like. You can spread the mortar on the plate and cover everything
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of the sole. You can also cover the base with mortar, turn everything over and place it on the plate. The solution to be adopted depends on the nature of the product to be obtained and in particular on the fluidity of the mortar.
It is possible to use a mold, one of the faces of which is the aforesaid plate and which is made completely or partially of glass, ice or similar material. This is the case, for example, when it is desired to manufacture objects without a sole, cast in solid mass and which must have more than one shiny face. Decorative objects such as ashtrays, statuettes, etc., can in fact be obtained according to the invention. In this case, the meaning of the word "plate" must be broadened, which then designates a surface corresponding to the whole part of the exterior surface of the object which must be shiny.
After placing in contact with the plate or the mold, pressing can optionally be carried out.
Setting and drying are quick and are usually completed within a few hours.
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described above, and that many modifications can be made thereto, without departing from the scope of the present patent application.
