PRIMING OF LIQUID AND SIMILAR PUMPS.
The invention relates to the priming of liquid pumps and the like, using a vacuum, and relates in particular to the priming of such pumps when the liquid conveyed is corrosive or loaded, without however being limited. to these applications,
The use of vacuum for priming is known per se.
The invention relates to means by which the priming is obtained in a simple and. safe, avoiding any penetration of liquid into the vacuum system of the equipment.
According to the invention, the internal space of the liquid pump or the like, to be primed is placed in communication with the vacuum system by means of a closed tank or rssrvoir, balanced by counterweight, which, under the 'CI effect. , a partial filling, predetermined, is replaced by driving its counterweight and by simultaneously actuating (the own operating members to break the communication of the pump or similar with the vacuum system.
In this way, communication with the viae source is maintained as long as the internal space of the pump or the like is not filled with liquid, that is, the pump or the like is not actually primed, while no liquid portion can enter the vacuum system,
The priming system may include means for terminating the emptying of the tank or tank at the end of the displacement.

safety devices are then provided to prevent the penetration of liquiae into the viae system anyway.
Advantageously, the system can be arranged to increase

Other peculiarities and advantages of the invention derive from the complement of the description which follows, with reference to the drawing which shows, in a more or less clear manner (,. In a bracket 13 is a support ;, a shaft 14 on which is engaged a sliding sleeve 15, preferably held in place elastically by springs 15 a, mounted on either side of the sleeve, between the latter and the uprights ae the console, and acting as shock absorbers,

Preferably this tap or valve is automatically return, coiiuue figure by the spring 21, so that it occupies its closed position noriua- lemjnt.
On the portion opposite to the lever 17 can move a counterpoise 22, held in the adjustment position by a locking screw 23. A stops 13 a of the console 13 acts as a support for the lever in the

Flexible pipes 24, 25 and 26 respectively connect the upper part of the internal space of the pump 1 to the valve 16, the latter to the upper part of the tank or reservoir 18,

and this to the inlet pipe 10 of the sY6ceili a via,

Due to the vacuum thus created in the internal space of the pump, this space is filled with liquid from the sump 3, which gains through the pipes 24 and 25, and the open valve 16, the tank or
