Elastic articulated fork for suspension of the front wheel of cycles and motorcycles.

The invention relates to suspension devices for the wheel having cycles and motorcycles in which the fork is made independent of the steering tube by virtue of its articulation on the fork crown and its connection to the latter to the head. means of elastic organs.

In such a construction, the fork crown rests freely on the front fork legs by means of an elastic system consisting of springs wound around rods fixed to the pivoting fork crown and bearing against components attached to the sleeves.

It was observed: that the functioning of the elastic system was unfavorably influenced as a result of the inclination that the said rods take under the action of the tre-

pidations imposed on the fork by the unevenness of the road, which almost friction of the springs against the sleeves.

The object of the invention is to eliminate this defect; in addition it provides a provision which facilitates the attachment of the mudguard of the front wheel.

The drawing appended to this specification shows in Fig.l a partial view of the recommended assembly in the de.repos position, and in FIG.

2 in working position. Fig.3 is a rear view corresponding to Fig.1.

As shown in the drawing, the fork head 1 ends at its part: by a cylindrical body 2 arranged perpendicular to the head 1 and provided at the front with two tabs 3 'between which a socket is inserted. 4 integral with arms 5 integral with lugs 6 welded respectively to the sleeves 7 of the front fork.

Above the legs 6, the sleeves 7 are extended by a curved part forming cradles 8 on which rests in the rest position the cylindrical body 2 of the fork head, capable of pivoting about an axis 9 passing through the legs. 3 and socket 4.

At the rear, the cylindrical body 2 projects two forks 10 arranged on either side of the axis of the fork and traversed horizontally by a rod 11 forming a pivot for two vertical rods 12 each provided with a head. 13 fitted into the forks 10. These rods pass through a suitable orifice drilled in the front part of the legs 6 from the sleeves. Around each rod 12-, under these tabs, is wound a spring 14, pressing on the one hand against them and on the other hand against a nut 15 'screwed onto a threaded part of said ti ge s.

Claims (1)

Under the effect of shocks and tremors caused by the passage of the front wheel over stones or other rough edges of the road, the cylindrical body 2 pivots around the axis 9 of the sleeves leaving its support on the cradles 8, as shown in Fig. 2. These movements of the fork are slowed down by the springs 14 which compress, while the rods 12 undergo vertical displacements by pivoting on their axis 11. Under these conditions the springs 14 keep their distance from the sleeves, so that the rods 12 can move freely and it is the same for the fork crown] In the present case, the legs 6 of the sleeves 7 are joined at the rear by a bridge piece 16, 'qui renforce le dispositif. 'which strengthens the device. In addition, in its center, it has a tab 17 with a buttonhole, which will facilitate the fixing of the mudguard, CLAIM. Elastic fork for suspension of the front wheel of cycles and motorcycles, having the following characteristics, together or separately: 1 on the fork head freely pivoting on the fork sleeves are pivotally mounted the rods around which are wound the shock braking springs; 2 under the curved part of the sleeves freely supporting the fork crown is provided a bridge piece sur- @ mounted with a fastening device for the mudguard.
