<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Freewheel device for bicycles and other similar vehicles.
The present invention relates to freewheel devices for bicycles and other similar vehicles.
In the known devices, at least one of the raceways for the balls is formed by an insert or else the raceways are formed or arranged on a central part on which the pinions are mounted on either side. other of the location of these raceways, so that they are cantilevered, which is very unfavorable to the point of

view of the solidity and also of the efficiency of the cyclist's effort.
On the other hand, it is necessary to make at least one of the pinions integral with the crown wheel and, therefore, the disassembly is made slow and complicated since, in particular, the freewheel must be removed in order to dismantle the toothed crown. .
The object of the preaente invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to increase the strength of the device while making all the pinions removable and interchangeable.
It also aims to reduce the number of parts entering into the constitution of the device.
With a view to achieving these aims, the device is characterized in that the ring is formed of a single piece (1) comprising two cylindrical parts (2, 3) of different diameters and each externally threaded for receiving the pieces. pinions (5,6), in that the ratchet (8) is on one of these parts and in that the raceways are formed on each of the outer edges of the cylindrical parts of the crown and by these parts.
In the practical embodiment of the invention, the cylindrical part of large diameter of the ring gear comprises a peripheral stop (7) for the pinions while the pinions mounted on the part of relatively small diameter bear against a ring (4). integral with the two cylindrical parts.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The ratchet or ratchet holder is also formed of two parts integral with one another of different diameters and one of the parts of this ratchet holder has on its outer edge a curvature cooperating with a curvature in the opposite direction of the crown in order to create a housing for balls.
The balls of the other bearing are housed in the same way between parts having curvatures in opposite directions formed on the one hand inside the ring and, on the other hand, on a flange taking on the pawl holder .
The accompanying drawings show by way of non-limiting example how the invention can be carried out in practice.
FIG. 1 is a view in vertical section and partly in elevation of the assembly of the device.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken by the innate II-II in Figure 1.
FIG. 3 is a view showing, in deployed form, each of the three parts forming part of the device.
FIG. 4 is a detailed perspective view of the crown.
As is apparent from the accompanying drawings, in the device which is the subject of the invention, the crown of the freewheel is formed as a single part 1 comprising two cylindrical parts 2 and 3 of different diameters made integral by a ring 4. .
Each of the cylindrical parts 2-3 has on
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
its outer periphery a screw thread, which allows the mounting on each of these screw threads of two pinions 5-51 and 6-6. The cylindrical part 2 has a flange 7 against
1 which supports the pair of gears 5-5, while ring 4 forms a stop for gears 6-61.
Inside the cylindrical part 3 is formed the internal snap 8 with which the pawls 9 mounted on the pawl holder or valve 10 cooperate, which also consists of two parts 101 - 102 of different diameters and interdependent with each other.
On the part 102 of the pawl holder is screwed the flange 11 which has a curvature 12 cooperating with a curvature in the opposite direction of the part 3 of the ring 1 to create a housing for balls 14; likewise, the
1 parts 1 and 10 respectively of the crown and of the pawl holder have curvatures in opposite directions 15 and 16 which cooperate with one another in order to also form a housing for the balls 17.
As shown in the drawings, thanks to the arrangement described, the raceways 13 and 15 for the balls are formed by the same part 1 and, more importantly, not in the central part of the device. , but to the outside.
The stresses are therefore manifested between the two bearings and the assembly therefore has greater strength than in known devices. In addition, the two parts of the crown form, as already said, a single element and permanently possess perfect concentricity. '
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
In addition, this design makes it possible to form two spans each having a sufficient width to ensure, on each of them, the mounting of two plgnons.
From this leak, one can avoid making one of the pinions integral with the crown wheel and the four pinions may become interchangeable. We can thus arrange them in a normal progression and remove them all without having to remove the freewheel.
In summary, therefore, an assembly is created consisting only of three parts of simple shapes in which the parts do not undergo, on the part of the pinions, abnormal forces, tending to give rise to deformations.
