Boite-chevalet pour artistes-peintres.
L'invention est relative à une balte-chevalet pour artistespeintres comprenant sous forme compacte, légère et résistante, un nécessaire pour l'artiste se rendant hors de son atelier pour peindre un paysage, un site, des animaux, etc..
Les nécessaires connus de ce genre consistent en une boite ou coffret plat en bois et, séparément, un chevalet partiellement pliable dont l'ensemble est encombrant, relativement lourd et peu résistant.
Suivant la présente invention, on réalise une boîte-chevalet en tôle métallique légère, de préférence en aluminium, alliages d'aluminium (duralumin) et analogues, comportant un jeu de trois pieds formant chevalet lorsque la boite est ouverte et en usage, deux de ces pieds étant montés à pivotement sur l'avant de la boite tandis que le troisième pied n'est pas relié par pivot à ladite boite et peut être détaché d'elle et monté par emboi- tement au milieu de l'arrière de la boite c'est-à-dire au milieu de l'arête arrière constituant charnière du couvercle de la boite et de la boite proprement dite, tandis que, lorsque la boite est

fermée et en cours de transport, ces trois pieds sont rabattus contre et le long de trois cotés de la boite.
Suivant une particularité de l'invention, ces pieds sont, en partie, pliants sur eux-mêmes et en partie à coulissement.
Les parties pliantes permettent l'emploi de la boîte-chevalet par l'usager, soit en position assise, soit en position debout de ce dernier. Les parties coulissantes permettent un réglage plus précis dans chaque position suivant la taille de l'usager. suivant une autre particularité de l'invention, les parties pliantes des pieds comportent, au droit de leurs charnières, des ressorts destinés à provoquer le déployement de ces parties lorsque les pieds sont écartés par pivotement ou détachés des bords de la boite.
Suivant une autre particularité de l'invention, les pieds montés à pivotement sur l'avant de la boite sont munis de deux butées dont l'une limite le déplacement des pieds lorsqu'ils sont rabattus verticalement par pivotement pour servir de pieds et dont l'autre limite l'écartement angulaire des pieds lorsqu'ils sont écartés et placés obliquement dans un plan perpendiculaire aux plans des petits côtés de la boite.
Suivant une autre particularité de l'invention, l'emboîtement du troisième pied arrière est réalisé par une tête de section biseautée s'engageant dans les brides qui servent au maintien de ce pied pendant le transport, tandis qu'une partie du pied est munie d'une encoche s'adaptant sur et dans ces brides pour éviter son mouvement pendant le transport, lorsque le pied est replié et maintenu en place contre le bord de la boite fermée, par exemple par une petite boucle en cuir ou moyen analogue.
D'autres particularités et détails de l'invention apparattront au cours de la description des dessins annexés qui représentent à titre d'exemple seulement, une forme de réalisation de l'invention. Les éléments et parties identiques sont représentée

Figs. 1 et 2 représentent respectivement la boite-chevalet fermée sous forme compacte pour le transport et la boite ouverte, mais avant déployage et mise en place des trois pieds formant support de la boite-chevalet.
Fig. 3 est relative à un accessoire.
Fig. 4 montre la boite ouverte avec les pieds dépliés pour travailler debout.
Fig. 5 montre en détail l'assemblage du pied arrière de la botte-chevalet en position de travail.

En Fig. 1 la boita-chevalet 2 fermée de forme rectangulaire de faible hauteur, est en tôle métallique,-de-préférence en duralumin, Sa fermeture est maintenue par un dispositif à boucle 3 ou analogue. Le long de chaque bord latéral sont disposés deux pieds dont un seul est visible en 4. Ces pieds qui sont montés à pivotement sur l'avant de la boite, à leur tête, c'est-à-dire prés de deux brides 5, sont en partie formés de parties pliantes et en partie formés de parties coulissant l'une par rapport à l'autre comme expliqué ci-après. A la Fig. 1, ces pieds sont maintenus repliés le long des côtés latéraux de la boite, par des boucles telles que 6.
Les brides 5 servent à la fixation d'une lanière (non représentée) de longueur variable, permettant de transporter la boite, soit comme une mallette, soit en bandoulière.
A l'arrière de la boite, c'est-à-dire le long du côté portant les charnières du couvercle 8 de la boite est fixé un troisième pied (non visible) également partiellement pliable, et partiellement à coulissement, ce troisième pied, dont il sera question ci-après,

n'est pas monté à pivotement sur la boite, mais peut en être détaché et inséré dans des attaches ad hoc pour servir de troisième pied de chevalet. Pour le transport ce troisième pied est maintenu en place, replié contre le dos de la boîte par une boucle 11, analogue aux boucles 6, et disposéeau milieu de la longueur du côté à charnière. Cette boucle 11 est partiellement visible Fig.l.
Fig. 2, la même boîte est représentée ouverte, les pieds toujours repliés. Comme visible, la boite 2 comporte des compar- timents séparés par des cloisons 7, égaiement en fine tôle d'alu- minium, pour recevoir le nécessaire pour le peintre.
Le couvercle S de la boite constitue un cadre pouvant recevoir le panneau sur lequel le peintre travaillera et derrière, un ou plusieurs panneaux de réserve. Le degré d'ouverture de la boite est limité par deux tringles articulées 12. Le long du bord supérieur du couvercle, à l'intérieur, est disposé un accessoire de la boite-chevalet représenté plus en détail Fig. 3. cet acces- soire consiste en une tige métallique 9 munie d'une tête 10 pou- vant enserrer des panneaux de format plus grand que la boite (voir ci-après Fig. 4). A cet effet., cette tige peut tourner autour d'un pivot central 13 (Fig. 3) et également coulisser dans ce pivot.
De plus, le bord supérieur du couvercle est lui-même monté à charnière sur le couvercle S, le long de son arête 14, de manière à pouvoir être basculé (comme représenté Fig. 4) et ensuite on peut retirer la tige 9, l'incliner et la fixer en pla- ce, par exemple par une vis de serrage 15, pour maintenir un grand ,panneau\ (comme également représenté Fig. 4). Enfin, à cet ef- fet encore, la tête 10 est montée à pivotement à une extrémité de la tige 9.

visible sur cette figure de quelle manière la tige 9 à tête 10 est utilisée pour maintenir en place un grand panneau 16, repré- senté en traits interrompus.
Grâce aux mouvements de coulissement et de rotation de la tige dans son pivot de centre ainsi que grâ- ra ce au mouvement de/battement du bord supérieur du couvercle et du mouvement de pivotement de la tête 10 par rapport à la tige 9 on peut, d'une part, maintenir tige et tête le long dudit bord supérieur pour le transport (comme visible Figs. 1 et 2) et, d'au- tre part, les adapter pour maintenir des grands panneaux de di- mensions variables (comme schématisé Fig. 4).
En second lieu, comme représenté Fig. 4, on voit qu'un pied, par exemple le pied avant gauche, est constitué par une première partie 4 (visible déjà Figs. 1 et 2) qui est montée à pivotement double sur le bord latéral de la boite. Ce pivotement double per- met d'abord de déplacer le pied jusque dans une position sensible- ment perpendiculaire à sa position de transport (Fig. 2) et ensui- te de le placer légèrement obliquement par rapport à la vertica- le. Le premier pivotement est limité par une butée constituée par la bride 5 et le second pivotement par des arêtes biseautées de la tête de la partie 4. (Voir Fige, 4 et 6).
La partie de pied 4 est munie d'une fente 17 et dans la sec- tion en U de cette partie, coulisse une deuxième partie 18 de même section en U, mais plus réduite et la position relative' de 4 et 5 peut être ajustée par un coulisseau et vis de réglage 4' (Figs. 1 et 4). sur la partie ou élément en U 18 est monté à pivotement un élément 19 semblable 4 l'élément 18, de section en U plus réduite de manière à pouvoir être placé dans la section de l'élément 18 par repliage, autour de la charnière 20 commune à ces deux éléments. Enfin, à l'extrémité de l'élément 19 est montée à pivotement une pointe ou pique 21 qui, pour le transport est re- pliée à l'intérieur de la section en U de l'élément 19.

rence, sur les axes des éléments à pivotement relatif, par exemple sur l'axe 20, on dispose un ressort 21 tel qu'un ressort à boudin qui provoque par ses extrémités libres, le dépliage de 19 par rapport à 18.
Le pied avant de droite est identique au pied avant gauche. quant au pied arrière il est analogue aux pieds avant, sauf en ce qui concerne la tête du premier élément 22. Celle-ci n'est pas pivotée sur ou solidaire de la boite 2. Après le transport, elle peut en être détachée et ensuite fixée dans deux brides 23 solidaires du dos de la boite par une tête biseautée comme représenté Fig. 5. Elle comporte en outre une petite fente dans laquelle s'introduit l'une ou l'autre des brides 23 pendant sa fixation contre le dos de la boite pour le transport de manière à éviter tous mouvement ou déplacement. En dehors de ces différences, elle est identique aux deux pieds avant comportant comme eux, une rainure 17 et un élément coulissant 18, puis un ou plusieurs éléments pivotants 19, 21, etc..
Lorsque le peintre désire travailler assis on peut replier un ou plusieurs des éléments Inférieurs 21 et/ou 19. De plus, lorsque le peintre est de taille moyenne ou petite, on peut opérer un ajustage de la hauteur de la boîte-chevalet par emboîtage, plus ou moins prononcé des éléments 18 dans l'élément qui les surmonte.
Fig. 6 on a représenté à grande échelle, la tête de l'élément supérieur 4 ou 22 des pieds, avec biseau 24. Dans le cas des pieds avant cette tête est munie d'un pivot 25. pour le pied arrière, il n'existe pas de tel pivot.
Fig. 7 est une vue analogue d'un élément 18 avec un orifice 26 pour la vis de fixation 19 et une charnière en 27 pour l'élément suivant 19. Plusieurs éléments tels que 18 peuvent être montés à pliage et emboîtements à la suite l'un de l'autre. A l'extrémité de l'élément inférieur de ce genre est montée une pointe ou pique,

Fig. 9 on a représenté un accessoire complémentaire éventuel, mais non indispensable, celui-ci consiste en un cadre ou châssis pour contenir une réserve de panneaux pour l'artiste usager de la boite lorsqu'il se déplace pour exééuter de nombreux travaux. Ce châssis consiste en un large cadre 29 ouvert à l'avant et à l'ar- riére, portant un côté mobile 30 qui constitue couvercle du cadre et est pivoté autour d'une charnière 31 et muni d'un moyen de fermeture, par exemple à boucle 32. L'intérieur des trois cotés fixes du cadre et, éventuellement le quatrième côté ou couvercle mobile, sont munis de lattes 33 constituant rails ou glissières entre lesquelles on peut insérer une série de panneaux, régulièrement maintenus à légère distance l'un de l'autre par ces glissières.
Enfin, en 34 et 35 on prévoit des moyens, languettes, coins et analogues pour l'emboîtement de cet accessoire sur le couvercle de la boîte-chevalet et son maintien pendant le transport.
Il est évident que l'invention n'est pas limitée à l'exemple décrit et représenté et que bien des modifications peuvent être apportées à la forme, la nature, le nombre, la constitution et le genre d'éléments entrant dans sa réalisation sans pour cela sortir du cadre de l'invention.

Easel box for painters.
The invention relates to a balte-easel for artists-painters comprising in compact, light and resistant form, a kit for the artist going outside his studio to paint a landscape, a site, animals, etc.
Known kits of this type consist of a box or flat wooden box and, separately, a partially foldable easel, the whole of which is bulky, relatively heavy and not very resistant.
According to the present invention, a box-easel is produced in light metal sheet, preferably in aluminum, aluminum alloys (duralumin) and the like, comprising a set of three feet forming an easel when the box is open and in use, two of these feet being mounted to pivot on the front of the box while the third foot is not connected by pivot to said box and can be detached from it and mounted by interlocking in the middle of the rear of the box that is to say in the middle of the rear edge constituting the hinge of the cover of the box and of the box itself, while, when the box is

In Fig. 1 the box-easel 2 closed of rectangular shape of low height, is made of sheet metal, -de-preferably duralumin, Its closure is maintained by a loop device 3 or the like. The cover S of the box constitutes a frame that can receive the panel on which the painter will work and behind, one or more reserve panels. Along the upper edge of the cover, inside, is arranged an accessory of the easel box shown in more detail FIG. 3. this accessory consists of a metal rod 9 fitted with a head 10 able to grip panels of a format larger than the box (see below in Fig. 4). Thanks to the sliding and rotating movements of the rod in its center pivot as well as thanks to the flapping movement of the upper edge of the cover and the pivoting movement of the head 10 relative to the rod 9, it is possible, on the one hand, keep the rod and head along said upper edge for transport (as shown in Figs. 1 and 2) and, on the other hand, adapt them to hold large panels of variable dimensions (as shown in diagram Fig. 4).
Second, as shown in Fig. 4, it can be seen that a foot, for example the front left foot, is constituted by a first part 4 (already visible in Figs. 1 and 2) which is mounted with double pivoting on the lateral edge of the box.
