L'invention prévoit en outre : la disposition d'une cloison séparatrice pivotante ajus- table entre les compartiments de dépôt des piérres et du grain; un dispositif qui permet à la matière légère flottant à la surface de l'eau dans le bassin de dépôt de passer de ce der- nier par dessus une plaque déversoir ajustable avec l'eau de la- vage ayant servi; un dispositif au moyen duquel les pierres du comparti- ment de dépôt des pierres et le grain du compartiment de dépôt du grain sont extraits et déchargés par des éjecteurs d'eau ali- mentés par la pompe qui dessert la tubulure d'admission d'eau dans le bassin de dépôt;

Improvements to washing machines and grain removal.
In washing and stone-removing machines, the grain is separated from stones with a higher specific weight and from materials which have a lower specific weight and which float on the water. Wheat has a slightly higher specific gravity than water and care must be taken to keep it suspended in the water where the separation is carried out while the stones separate and settle. During immersion the wheat absorbs water and any agitation of the water to keep the wheat in suspension also delays the deposit of stones thus prolonging the operation and causing greater absorption of water by the grains, which is often undesirable at this stage of washing wheat.
The object of the present invention is to provide a machine @

for washing and removing stones where the quantity of water absorbed by the wheat is reduced to a minimum and whose construction is simple and economical.
The invention consists of a machine for washing and de-stoning the grain, comprising a deposit basin where the stones and the grain are deposited in separate compartments, a water inlet pipe or container, divided horizontally to determine upper and lower streams of water, and a device for delivering grain to the upper stream only.
The invention further provides for: the provision of an adjustable pivoting dividing wall between the compartments for depositing stones and grain; a device which allows the light material floating on the surface of the water in the deposition basin to pass from the latter over an adjustable weir plate with the washing water having been used; a device by means of which the stones from the stone depositing compartment and the grain from the grain depositing compartment are extracted and discharged by water ejectors supplied by the pump which serves the water inlet pipe in the deposit basin;
a device by means of which water is withdrawn from the end of the basin opposite the inlet end, sent over a weir wall which provides a suitable depth of water in the deposit tank and discharged into the tank. inlet pipe for the basin and in the water ejectors.

The water admitted into the washing and depositing basin a enters through a pipe b which is divided by a horizontal dividing wall. ± into an upper duct d and a lower duct e, the wheat to be washed. chute f in the upper water pipe only.
When the water coming from the two conduits d and e merges into a single current at the entrance to the basin a, the stones easily fall into the deposit compartment g, but the wheat is carried away further, even if it has started to settle on the bottom of the upper duct, by the action of the water coming from the lower duct e, and is deposited in the deposit compartment h. You can have an adjustable pivoting dividing wall! between the deposit compartments g and h and the position of this partition is adjusted so that all the stones are deposited in the compartment d from where they can be extracted and evacuated by the flush j.
The grain which settles in the compartment h is expelled by a water ejector k in another machine.
The light material contained in the water floats on the surface and is carried over the adjustable spillway m with the water which has been used.
The water in compartment n beyond the deposit compartment h is returned to the inlet of the pump which supplies the pipe a and the ejectors 1 and k. However, to ensure the continued existence of a great height of liquid in basin a, the water is withdrawn from compartment n through the bottom of the latter to send it over an adjustable weir o into compartment p and evacuate it through pipe g. The weir plate o thus maintains the desired level of water in the basin a when the machine is operating normally.
By applying the present a perfected process of eliminating

tion of the stones of wheat, or found that the separation can be carried out quickly so that the wheat has time to absorb only a minimum quantity of water compared to that which was absorbed in the usual types washing machines and de-stoning.
